A collaborative research project established between the university of Tennessee (UT) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) lab and the federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) sought to validate CFD prediction of the environmental control system (ECS)-generated ventilation velocity vector field with induced mass transport. The results of the velocity field validation exercise were published previously. An FAA Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) project generated an experimental database of time-dependent inserted mass distributions in the CAMI Aircraft Environmental Research Facility (AERF). The companion CFD mass transport simulations were conducted at the UT CFD Lab using both commercial and proprietary computer codes. This paper reports the qualified results of the mass transport validation exercise.

The Transmission Control Protocol - TCP has been widely researched in many different networking technologies such as wireless, optical, satellite, sensor, and wired since it is the most used protocol on the Internet. In Wireless mesh networks, this protocol still has challenges due to its origin and implementations for wired networks. This paper proposes an adaptation on the congestion control mechanism using information from the network layer to improve TCP performance through the vertical calibration across layer technique. Wireless mesh networks constitute an emerging technology that is quickly gaining popularity due to its countless advantages in terms of coverage area and low implementation cost. Wireless mesh networks are also capable of self- organization. The eminent advantage of a self-organized network is its ability to perform network control and management, which reduces both the developmental complexity and the need for maintenance of these networks. In this paper, we propose a self-organizing approach for the optimized link state routing protocol (OLSR) in wireless mesh networks, based on the agent technology. Based on the results we obtained, we argue that our architectural self-organization model increases throughput and improves the delay and packet delivery of the overall network, when compared to the original OLSR protocol.
