Recent literature reviews point out that active data physicalizations still lack evaluation scenarios. These evaluations mainly focus on the perception of visual and physical characteristics of physicalizations and users' performance of analysis tasks. This paper addresses a proposed accuracy assessment of data physicalization for data representation. The data physicalization used is a physical and dynamic bar chart using 3D printed models (3D bars) and LED strips inside the bars, both controlled by microcontrollers (Arduino), being possible to represent different datasets. The accuracy assessment of this physicalization is based on the height and color of the 3D bars. For this, distance sensors measure the actual height values of the bars, and a computer vision camera/algorithm collects and estimates the RGB value of the bars. From original and measured values datasets, bar charts images are built to perform a similarity comparison between the images. The similarity metric is used as an accuracy metric of the bar heights to represent data and obtained as initial results value higher than 96%. Furthermore, an evaluation scenario of the distance between the reference and measured colors 2000) classifies most of them as having proper perception. Additionally, the accuracy loss was evaluated on data physicalization in a scenario of continuous use (ten configurations without any calibration), and the variation of errors was around 2%.

This research explores multiple varieties of effective and child-friendly learning approaches for mathematics and memorization among young children in today's increasingly digital age considering their specific developmental needs. This type of approach includes in-person teaching, engaging online videos, interactive textbooks, and innovative educational games. This research employs a detailed comparative analysis, considering both ‘User Experience’ and measurable learning outcome factors, and spans a range of age groups from preschoolers to elementary school children. Through highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each method, this research aims to inspire the adoption of efficient, child-centric, and novel teaching techniques by educators and institutions, thereby advancing the quality of education in Indonesia. The results show that using serious game in education presents high usefulness score alongside positive user experience, suggesting its viability for educational purposes.

VANETs make it possible to execute specific vehicular applications, in particular those with the aim of turning traffic safe and avoiding congestion. However, it is difficult to maintain communication between vehicles when these vehicles move dynamically at high speeds. Context-aware systems have been studied as a way to monitor context information from sensors, which can be used by systems to adapt to changes in their environment or in application requirements. This concept is used by VANET protocols and applications in different ways. Quality of Context (QoC) metrics are used to qualify the context information considering different characteristics of sensors and of the information, being a base for systems to decide if it is safe and interesting to use specific information. In this paper, we propose QoC metrics related to the stability of the updating process for a vehicular communication context. In addition, we also analyze the Age QoC metric and show how to calculate it for distinct context information. We simulate scenarios to verify the QoC metrics behavior. The results showed that the proposed QoC metrics can properly qualify the vehicular communication context.

Low Earth Orbit satellite constellations are highly mobile and thus have time-varying network topologies. Such time-varying networks face various challenges due to intermittently available links and devices. Consequently, many routing algorithms that work well on the terrestrial Internet may not be suitable for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations. This paper provides an analysis of the impact that different types of routing algorithms may have on the performance of LEO constellations. The provided study analyses not only link-state routing algorithms, as used in well-known routing protocols for LEO constellations such as Contact Graph Routing (CGR), which follows a Software Defined Networking (SDN) approach, but also distance-vector algorithms, as well as the potential combination of link-state and distance-vector algorithms when network clusters are used in a LEO constellation.

The development of technology and the internet is one of the critical factors that must be considered by companies especially those engaged in e-commerce. The web-based application is one of the tools used by e-commerce in making it easier for users to conduct transactions and data processing. The application that developed must be calculated carefully so the effectiveness and efficiency can be appropriately maintained. In this research, the calculation of the size of the software, effort, time, staff, and the total cost needed to work on an application was calculated using the Function Point Analysis (FPA) and Constructive Cost Model II (CoCoMo II) methods. The application that has been analyzed and estimated is Merchant Application Portal (MAP) which is an application designed by one of the companies in Indonesia. The estimation results obtained, scilicet the size of software amounted to 10,02972 KLOC, effort amounted to 48.521 Person Month, time development of 13 months, staff needed as many as four staff, and the estimated cost amounted to IDR 13,828,852.79 or $ 971.54. In addition, this calculation can be used by other companies to find out the resources needed in making a software to be more effective and efficient. © 2021 ACM.

In recent decades, several studies have suggested and validated user models (e.g., Bartle, and Hexad) to represent different user profiles in games and gamified environments. However, when applying these user models in practice (e.g., to personalize gamification), several studies reported contradictory outcomes. Recently, some studies outlined that one of the possible explanations for these contradictory findings is that people can present changes in their user profiles over time. In this study (N = 118), we present an analysis of the consistency of gamification user orientations after six months of the initial identification, by analyzing the association between user orientations in the first and second data collection. Overall, our results corroborate prior research demonstrating that user orientations can not be considered stable over time and also that the strongest tendency of the users might not be sufficient to determine how users change. Furthermore, we were able to identify that some user orientations can be more stable than others and model some relationships between their profiles after six months. Based on the results, we indicate a research agenda that can further the knowledge about the topic, as well as indicate a set of suggestions on how to model user profiles based on our results. © 2023 Owner/Author.

This paper compares the performance of five commercial speech recognition APIs under noisy environments, namely those provided by Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google, Kakao, and Naver. To this end, we used an open dataset for development and evaluation of multi-channel noise processing technology provided in AI Hub. We tested each API's performance with respect to the speaker's gender and location and the speech content, and measured their error rate using both word error rate (WER) and character error rate (CER). Except for the AWS API, the error rate was higher when tested with female's data than male's one, and when tested with the data recorded from the side than the front. The error rate was also relatively high when the test sentences contained proper nouns such as person's names and local names, and the shorter the sentences, the higher the error rate. Moreover, the Google API outperformed all the others in terms of both WER and CER, with 53% and 18% of error rate, respectively. © 2022 Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. All rights reserved.

A location's Take-up Rate was significantly influenced by its Internet connectivity and availability. The purpose of this research is to answer concerns about internal Internet Service Provider issues that affect Internet connectivity in clusters of West Java, Indonesia. It also aims to evaluate the results of models that forecast how these internal factors will affect internet connectivity. According to the research findings, the FTTH Cluster has eight significant Internet predictor connectivity out of 18 elements. Activation delay and Administration Documentation of Activation with Connectivity were the two major parameters modeled out of the 18 components. Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Decision Tree (DT) models were used to predict Internet Broadband Connectivity Classification based on the two most important variables. According to the study, ANN is the best model, with 99% accuracy and 99.6% precision when compared to SVM and DT. Furthermore, it exceeds previous studies that used the ANN model and achieved 97.92% accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

The industrial landscape has witnessed a growing demand for components exhibiting superior performance and extended lifespan, especially in parts made of stainless steels like AISI 409 steel, widely used in automotive exhaust systems, heat exchangers, and lightweight structural components. This study investigates the enhancement of surface properties of AISI 409 stainless steel through cathodic cage plasma nitriding (CCPN) and cathodic cage plasma deposition (CCPD) processes, focusing on the novel implementation of duplex treatments. The research aims to improve the mechanical strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance of the steel by forming nitrides and vanadium nitride films on its surface. The duplex treatments, specifically N400D450 and N450D450, were found to significantly enhance the hardness of AISI 409 stainless steel, with the N450D450 sample achieving a maximum hardness of 1100 HV—a 461.22% increase compared to the untreated steel. This enhancement is attributed to the formation of a thick, uniform nitrided layer followed by a vanadium nitride film. The critical role of processing order was highlighted, with the sequence of nitriding followed by deposition proving more effective than the reverse. Corrosion resistance was markedly improved in the duplex-treated samples. The N450D450 sample exhibited an Ecorr of -198 mV and reduced jcorr values, indicating superior resistance to corrosive environments. These results underscore the synergistic effect of combining nitriding and vanadium deposition, which optimizes the formation of protective surface layers. Overall, this study demonstrates that duplex treatments significantly enhance the surface properties of AISI 409 stainless steel, offering the potential for extended component lifespan and reduced maintenance in industrial applications. The findings suggest that careful control of process parameters and treatment sequence is essential for achieving optimal results. © 2024, The Authors. All rights

Automated language translation involving low-resource language has gained wide interest from many research communities in the past decade. One lesson learned from the past COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in Indonesia, is that many local Governments have to release regular public announcements to keep people following health protocol especially when they are in public areas. Many studies showed some evidence that rural people in Indonesia which covers a large proportion of Indonesia's population, feel more convenience receiving official announcements in their local language. However, translating official announcement from the national language to many local languages in Indonesia require many experienced bilingual translators and time. This paper presents exploration results in developing an automated language translator model to translate texts in Bahasa Indonesia to the Sundanese language. In particular, this study aims to explore the effect of ReLU, Sigmoid, and Tanh activation functions of the Vanilla Transformer Model on its translation performance. The experiment results showed that the activation function under study gives similar training accuracy (0.98). However, ReLU achieves better performance than Tanh in terms of validation accuracy, training loss, and validation loss. © 2023 IEEE.
