This paper presents a methodology for the indirect calibration of hyperspectral images using radiometric measurements from field samples. While hyperspectral imaging (HSI) is essential in remote sensing, its accuracy depends on precise calibration, which is often challenging in the field. Most approaches rely on a single standard panel used as absolute reference and the empirical line method. This often leads to mistakes and uncertainties in the analysis. In this paper we propose an alternative that utilizes radiometric data from rock samples with known spectral properties to indirectly calibrate hyperspectral images. The results show specific improvements in accuracy, particularly in the shape of the curves, compared to standard calibration method. The calibrated images offer better material differentiation and more reliable spectral signatures, which are crucial for geological mapping and mineral exploration. This approach can enhance the reliability of hyperspectral data analysis in geological and environmental studies, especially in situations where time and logistics are challenging.

The Mean Tropospheric Temperature (Tm) is important for the sake of the conversion between Zenith Path Delay (ZPD) to Precipitable Water Vapor (PWV) because of the proportionality constant that takes Tm to be calculated. In Brazil, Tm modeling’s been traditionally performed using Multiple Linear Regression Models (MLR). However, recent works suggest the use of Deep Learning methods to model Tm values. In this work, we propose models based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) using radiosonde data from 1961 to 2010. The results show that CNN models can outperform the traditional methods considering different statistic metrics like R, standard deviation, and RMSE.

This paper presents the development of a versatile mobile robot platform designed for precision agriculture. The robot’s proposed overview architecture and its manufacturing are presented while it further discusses the incorporated vision-based perception modules for road segmentation in farm environments and maize stem detection. For road segmentation, the Segment Anything Model (SAM) based on Zero-Shot Segmentation was utilized. The SAM algorithm effectively extracted navigable spaces in challenging scenarios, demonstrating its robustness and adaptability. Furthermore, considerations were made for computational efficiency, motivating future implementation on low-power devices. In the maize stem detection module, a comprehensive dataset of maize stem images obtained from a local agricultural field was created. The images were processed using the YOLOv5 model, resulting in a highly accurate and efficient maize stem detection module. The validation of both perception modules highlights the successful integration of vision-based technologies into the platform. The platform’s adaptability and robustness make it a valuable tool for precision agriculture applications. By leveraging these technologies, the proposed vehicle contributes to improving crop monitoring and management, enhancing overall agricultural practices.

Superior and quality human resources are based on healthy human resources with indicators of adequate nutritional intake according to age development. However, the world still faces the problem of hunger and malnutrition today. According to a UNICEF report, the number of people suffering from malnutrition in the world will reach 767.9 million people in 2021. The World Health Organization (WHO) said that malnutrition is a dangerous threat to the health of the world's population. Stunting also has an impact in Indonesia, the prevalence of toddlers experiencing stunting in Indonesia is 24.4% in 2021. The solution created is to classify and cluster the prevalence of stunting to produce a pattern that can be used as best practice to be transmitted to other affected areas. The algorithm used is Euclid. The Euclid algorithm can cluster stunting prevalence data into 4 clusters with the very little category at 79%, the little category at 67%, the many categories at 51%, and the very much category at 21%. The results of the classification and clustering of the best stunting prevalence in cluster one with a very small number, can be used as a source of accurate and updated information that can be used by the government in its efforts to optimize stunting handling in each district/city based on artificial intelligence which can provide handling and optimization patterns. stunting in every district/city.

This paper explores the development of a multilabel machine learning system for predicting both gender and age from human gait patterns. Gait analysis, a non-intrusive method of identifying subtle nuances in human movement, has proven to be a rich source of information related to demographic characteristics. The research extends beyond traditional single-label classification approaches, adopting a multilabel framework to simultaneously predict gender and age *** study evaluates various multilabel machine learning algorithms, with the Random k-labeLsets (RAKEL) algorithm demonstrating superior performance in predicting gender and age labels from human gait datasets. The accuracy of the algorithm can reach up to 87%. We also compared the multilabel approach with several multiclass algorithms such as Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, K-Neighbors and XGBoost. However, when we also considering the training time, Classifier Chain algorithm showed the best trade off with the accuracy of 86% and the training time is twice faster than the RAKEL algorithm.

Proteins are base molecules present in live organisms. The study of their structures and functions is of considerable importance for many application fields, particularly for the pharmaceutical area. This paper presents a multi-objective model to the Protein Structure Prediction problem, using three objectives: energy score, secondary structure information, and contact maps information. A BRKGA method is used as a global optimizer and adapted to work with multiple objective problems. Also, the MUFOLD-CL clustering method is applied to select a single predicted structure. Experiments were carried out to analyze the proposed model performance using state-of-the-art ab initio algorithms for comparison. Results obtained indicate that the proposed approach is competitive in terms of RMSD and GDT metrics.

Mixed reality is becoming more popular, and a lot of technology companies trying to develop and enhance mixed reality technology and using it not just in manufactures or industries but lately the technology is used for teaching and learning, either in school or for training purposes. While traditional teaching and learning processes are not effective anymore and most of the time, the learning objectives are not reached. This paper has an objective to point out the benefits of using mixed reality for teaching and learning. 99 articles have been collected and reviewed carefully as a quality assessment process, there are 41 articles has been selected for further review and top 5 benefits will be discussed. This review informs educators and scholars that there are common benefits, and the most popular benefit is better learning engagement. © 2021 IEEE.

The recent proliferation of hyper-realistic deepfake videos has drawn attention to the threat of audio and visual forgeries. Most previous studies on detecting artificial intelligence-generated fake videos only utilize visual modality or audio modality. While some methods exploit audio and visual modalities to detect forged videos, they have not been comprehensively evaluated on multimodal datasets of deepfake videos involving acoustic and visual manipulations, and are mostly based on convolutional neural networks with low detection accuracy. Considering that human cognition instinctively integrates multisensory information including audio and visual cues to perceive and interpret content and the success of transformer in various fields, this study introduces the audio-visual transformer-based ensemble network (AVTENet). This innovative framework tackles the complexities of deepfake technology by integrating both acoustic and visual manipulations to enhance the accuracy of video forgery detection. Specifically, the proposed model integrates several purely transformer-based variants that capture video, audio, and audio-visual salient cues to reach a consensus in prediction. For evaluation, we use the recently released benchmark multimodal audio-video FakeAVCeleb dataset. For a detailed analysis, we evaluate AVTENet, its variants, and several existing methods on multiple test sets of the FakeAVCeleb dataset. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms all existing methods and achieves state-of-the-art performance on Testset-I and Testset-II of the FakeAVCeleb dataset. We also compare AVTENet against humans in detecting video forgery. The results show that AVTENet significantly outperforms humans. © 2016 IEEE.

Population diversity management is crucial for the quality of solutions in Evolutionary Algorithms. Many techniques require assistance to handle diverse problem characteristics and may prematurely converge in local optima. Maintaining diversity enables the algorithm to search the space and produce better results effectively. Parallel models are a common approach to preserving diversity;however, design decisions affect optimization process characteristics. For example, the Island model’s migration policy affects convergence speed. This study proposes and evaluates a fitness-based migration policy for the Biased Random-Key Genetic Algorithm (BRKGA) and compares it to two traditional strategies. The results in continuous search spaces demonstrate that the proposed policy can enhance BRKGA optimization with appropriate parameters. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Multivariate time series (MTS) data, when sampled irregularly and asynchronously, often present extensive missing values. Conventional methodologies for MTS analysis tend to rely on temporal embeddings based on timestamps that necessitate subsequent imputations, yet these imputed values frequently deviate substantially from their actual counterparts, thereby compromising prediction accuracy. Furthermore, these methods typically fail to provide robust initial embeddings for values infrequently observed or even absent within the training set, posing significant challenges to model generalizability. In response to these challenges, we propose SCAlable Numerical Embedding (SCANE), a novel framework that treats each feature value as an independent token, effectively bypassing the need for imputation. SCANE regularizes the traits of distinct feature embeddings and enhances representational learning through a scalable embedding mechanism. Coupling SCANE with the Transformer Encoder architecture, we develop the Scalable nUMerical eMbeddIng Transformer (SUMMIT), which is engineered to deliver precise predictive outputs for MTS characterized by prevalent missing entries. Our experimental validation, conducted across three disparate electronic health record (EHR) datasets marked by elevated missing value frequencies, confirms the superior performance of SUMMIT over contemporary state-of-the-art approaches addressing similar challenges. These results substantiate the efficacy of SCANE and SUMMIT, underscoring their potential applicability across a broad spectrum of MTS data analytical tasks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.
