The advancements in technology during the 20th century resulted in the onset of the digital computer era. This study investigates the relative importance of earlier algorithms in comparison to more recent ones. Various research projects suggest improving vectorization by combining conventional and modern techniques, while others suggest optimizing it through algorithmic methods. This study primarily focuses on employing Bayesian optimization to optimize hyperparameters, hence improving the performance evaluation of TF-IDF FastText sentiment classification models. This study presented four models: the initial model utilized FastText with a preprocessing step that involved removing stopwords, the second model employed Fast-Text without any optimization using Bayesian optimization, the third model utilized FastText with optimization using Bayesian optimization, and the fourth model combined FastText with TF-IDF and was further optimized using Bayesian optimization. The Support Vector Machine (SVM) technique will be employed to evaluate all of the models. The findings suggest that the model's performance stays unchanged when stopwords are eliminated (Precision, Recall, F1: 0.9007). The model demonstrates a slight enhancement through the utilization of Bayesian optimization, resulting in a 0.02% increase, reaching a final accuracy of 0.9019%. Bayesian optimization is frequently employed to improve performance. The performance of Bayesian optimization is affected by the magnitude of the learning rate, and models that do not utilize Bayesian optimization demonstrate inferior performance. Both the TF-IDF FasText model and FastText model yielded comparable outcomes, attaining an F1 score of 0.9019 after being tuned by Bayesian optimization. © 2023 IEEE.

The ability to differentiate various products in the retail store plays an essential role to provide effectiveness to customers and reduce or even eliminate long queues. However, traditional machine learning algorithms are incapable of recognizing many subordinate categories in various retail product. This paper aims to recognize the retail product recognition algorithm based on the YOLOv7 model in terms of intra-class variations, with the sub-categories of brand and size. We used two schemes of the dataset to compare recognition performance between them. Firstly, the YOLOv7 is applied in the two schemes of the dataset that is annotated with the subordinate category to detect the brand as meta category. Secondly, the proposed method is applied by adding the object size classification into the YOLOv7 model where the square area of the bounding box was calculated to classify the product according to size. Confidence score and square area are used to verify the object and to obtain the product size, which represents sub-category of the product. The experimental results show that our proposed method achieves higher recall compared to baseline object detection. © 2023 IEEE.

In real life, many activities are performed sequentially. These activities must be carried out sequentially, such as the assembly process in the manufacturing production process. This series of activities cannot be reduced or added so that the main goal of the series of activities is achieved. Apart from that, there are also time series events that occur naturally, such as rainy and hot conditions in a certain area. The classification process of time series activities is very important to see the possibility of anomalies occurring. The significant development of machine learning models in recent years has made the process of classifying time series data increasingly researched. Several previous studies stated that deep learning models were more accurate in classifying time series data. In this paper, we will compare Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Transformer deep learning models in classifying time series data. Experimental results using the same public datasets for CNN and Transformer model show that the CNN model is more accurate than the Transformer model. The results of measuring accuracy using confusion matrix show that CNN has an accuracy of 92% and Transformer has an accuracy of 80%. © 2023 IEEE.

Data selection can be used in conjunction with adaptive filtering algorithms to avoid unnecessary weight updating and thereby reduce computational overhead. This paper presents a novel correntropy-based data selection method as an alternative to conventional data selection mechanisms based on squared error values. We developed a variable correntropy sensing algorithm to maximize the instantaneous correntropy function for the Gaussian kernel function to mitigate the impact of impulse noise and other forms of noise that can be disregarded in data selection. The proposed data selection mechanism can be implemented with any adaptive filtering algorithm. In simulations, the proposed method (implemented with the least mean squared algorithm) outperformed comparable error-based data selection schemes in terms of hit rate and miss rate, and the resulting weight updating ratio was close to the expected weight updating ratio. © 2023 IEEE. The growing focus on microcredentials emphasizes the urgent need for precise and widely accepted definitions, as existing uncertainties hinder their effective implementation. This research aims to investigate the comprehension of microcredentials definitions in the context of higher education by conducting a systematic literature review. The goal is to identify current definitions of microcredentials to facilitate standardization initiatives. Following The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology to systematically search in Scopus database within 2019-2024 resulting 940 articles, by removing the duplicates, 280 articles were initially reviewed, with 29 selected for detailed thematic analysis based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. By adapting the six phases of thematic analysis, selected articles were identified analyzed, organized, described, and themes found the data set were reported. Key findings reveal that, while a universally accepted definition is lacking, common themes emerge: microcredentials are competency-based, modular, portable, stackable, and often include quality assurance. These attributes highlight microcredentials as valuable for upskilling and reskilling in a flexible manner. The study concludes that establishing standard definitions can increase the recognition and utility of microcredentials across educational and professional sectors and recommends further research to strengthen core elements for consistency. © 2024 IEEE.

As cryptocurrencies become more popular as investment vehicles, bitcoin draws interest from businesses, consumers, and computer scientists all across the world. Bitcoin is a computer file stored in digital wallet applications where each transaction is secured using strong cryptographic algorithms. It was challenging to forecast the future price of bitcoin due to its nonlinearity and extreme volatility. Several recent classic parametric models have been found with limited accuracy. To address the limitations and fill the existing research gaps, there is a need for a good prediction model which will provide the desired accuracy in the case of uncertainty and dynamism. This research suggested a deep learning-based framework for predicting and forecasting Bitcoin price. The research will be helpful for worldwide consumers and industries to take their decision on whether to invest or not. The research utilizes Yahoo! finance dataset for the period of 01-03-2016 to 26-02-2021 having 1828 samples. The experimental outcomes of the proposed Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model outperformed similar deep learning models by securing minimum loss and confirming that it can be used for future price prediction of the cryptocurrencies, which is helpful for the buyer to take their decision. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

This article describes the architecture of software services that provide registration of small boat data to build maritime safety. The proposed system architecture which so-called SIMKAPEL aims to support small boat registration for maritime safety. It is developed from a conventional service-oriented architecture (SOA) with an open standard for data interoperability between elements. The goal of this research is to implement and evaluate the proposed architecture to support small boat registration and e-certification. Several parts of the architecture have been implemented as a platform that provides core services and data sources to be used by Ministry of Transportation, Directorate General of Sea Transportation, and other government agencies. Finally, the proposed SIMKAPEL platform with the SOA architecture is evaluated for its benefits to users through the expert opinion survey to measure its efficiency. The analysis results showed that SOA-based SIMKAPEL is feasible to use as a boat e-certification system. Furthermore, experiment results provide three parameters (e.g., maritime safety, namely, cargo/passengers, boat safety facilities, and maritime safety systems) with efficiency values of 42%, 46%, and 42%, respectively. The parameter with the highest efficiency shows a big effect on the level of safety of the boat and passengers. Thus, the parameters that need to be prioritized and need boat owners’ attention are cargo/passenger, boat safety equipment, and maritime safety system. © 2023, The Author(s).

Herein, we propose high-performance Ti/STO/n+-Si and Ag/STO/n+-Si write-once-read-many-times devices, where the resistance transition mechanisms are controlled by oxygen vacancies in the STO layer and metal atoms from the electrochemically active Ag electrode, respectively. The as-deposited STO films have a low oxygen-vacancy content of 12.2%. When the Ti electrode is deposited, the formation of a thin TiOx interfacial layer at the Ti/STO interface is achieved, which leads to an increase of oxygen vacancy content in the STO layer to 28.6%. The relatively higher oxygen vacancy density means that the Ti/STO/n+-Si device can provide a voltage-polarity-independent memory function. In contrast, the resistance transition of the Ag/STO/n+-Si device can be limited in the positive voltage region because Ag cations can only be driven into the STO layer using a positive bias. Both devices show high ILRS/IHRS ratios, superior data retention capability, and fast transition speeds. © 2024 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) is a useful cryptographic primitive. It makes a third-party manipulate data in the ciphertext space and therefore is a key technology for privacy-preserving outsourcing services. Theoretically, FHE can evaluate any circuits. However, the implementation is not trivial. The reason it lacks lots of basic operations like conditional check and branch control. In this paper, we focus on extended Euclidean algorithm operation over FHE. We introduce the problems we encounter and show how we solve these issues. We implement our design and evaluate its performance on a real computer. As big data,Artificial Intelligence,and Vehicle-to-Everything(V2X)communication have advanced,Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS)are being developed to enable efficient and safe transportation *** Toll Collection(ETC),which is one of the services included in ITS systems,is an automated system that allows vehicles to pass through toll plazas without stopping for manual *** ETC system is widely deployed on highways due to its contribution to stabilizing the overall traffic system *** ensure secure and efficient toll payments,designing a distributed model for sharing toll payment information among untrusted toll service providers is ***,the current ETC system operates under a centralized ***,both toll service providers and toll plazas know the toll usage history of *** raises concerns about revealing the entire driving routes and patterns of *** address these issues,blockchain technology,suitable for secure data management and data sharing in distributed systems,is being applied to the ETC *** enables efficient and transparent management of ETC ***,the public nature of blockchain poses a challenge where users’usage records are exposed to all *** tackle this,we propose a blockchain-based toll ticket model named AnonymousTollPass that considers the privacy of *** proposed model utilizes traceable ring signatures to provide unlinkability between tickets used by a vehicle and prevent the identity of the vehicle using the ticket from being identified among the ring members for the ***,malicious vehicles’identities can be traced when they attempt to reuse *** conducting simulations,we show the effectiveness of the proposed model and demonstrate that gas fees required for executing the proposed smart contracts are only 10%(when the ring size is 50)of the fees required in previous studies.
