Electricity Consumption Prediction using Generative Models

Recently, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) has been deployed for power demand distribution and energy saving, and correspondingly traditional watt-hour meters installed in apartments and industrial sites are also being replaced with AMIs. Accordingly, power demand prediction using AMIs will become increasingly important to save electrical energy consumption. In this paper, we develop various deep learning-based electricity consumption prediction models using simple neural networks, convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks, and encoder-decoder-based generative models. To build prediction models, we use average power demand data collected from various home smart meters. Experimental results show that the generative model outperforms other deep learning-based models in terms of mean squared error, and we roughly explain why the generative model is better than other models by examining the activation layer output distributions. © 2022 Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of interconnected objects, which congregate and exchange gigantic amounts of data. Usually, predeployed embedded sensors sense this massive data. Soon, several applications of IoT are anticipated to exploit emerging 6G technology. Healthcare is one of them, where the 6G-inspired paradigm may facilitate the users to exchange information through hundreds of sensors under the assumption of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT). Integration of medical sensors with AIoT is known as Artificial Intelligence of Medical Things (AIoMT). The secure and seamless interactions among 6G-enabled AIoMT users should be the primary challenge. Furthermore, resource-constrained wearable sensing devices, with their inability to execute complex security solutions, provide an ideal attraction for malicious entities to launch diverse attacks. These challenges have motivated us to design a cost-effective authenticated solution (CAS) for 6G-enabled AIoMT healthcare applications. Our CAS protocol not only prevents cyber threats like impersonation session key secrecy but it can also prevent physical threats like hardware tampering. We observe formal and informal security validations to endorse its robustness and effectiveness. Performance comparison reveals that the CAS protocol offers maximum security enrichment. Moreover, CAS is cost-effective as it has achieved 33% and 60% reduction in computation and communication overheads, respectively, compared to contemporary competing related protocols. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper investigates the integration of advanced deep learning architectures, namely ResNet-18, GoogleNet and enhanced GoogleNet (GoogleNet Plus), into the Semantic-Forward (SF) relaying framework for cooperative communications in 6G networks. The SF relaying framework enhances transmission efficiency and robustness by leveraging semantic information at relay nodes. We analyze and compare the performance of these deep learning models in terms of validation accuracy, semantic accuracy, and Euclidean distance (ED) metrics on the CIFAR-10 dataset. Results indicate that ResNet-18 achieves the highest performance due to its residual learning architecture. GoogleNet Plus, incorporating Automatic Mixed Precision (AMP) training and the Adam optimizer, demonstrates improved stability and efficiency compared to the original GoogleNet. The results highlights the potential of deep learning models to enhance semantic processing capabilities in SF relaying, contributing to the development of more efficient, resilient, and adaptive cooperative communication systems in 6G networks. © 2024 IEEE.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a brain disorder that causes dementia and affects the memory, cognitive, and behavioral function. Early detection for AD can help to reduce the symptoms and slow down AD progression. Deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), a component of artificial intelligence, has demonstrated efficacy in resolving image-related issues and has gained widespread use in the analysis of medical images. CNN works well on large datasets, however, in imbalanced datasets, it can perform poorly by misclassifying minority classes. In this study, the random over-sampling technique is used to address the imbalance in the dataset, while Albumentations is used for image augmentation to prevent overfitting. The results demonstrate that the combination of these techniques leads to improved classification performance compared to traditional approaches. The proposed method has the potential to improve the accuracy of AD diagnosis and contribute to the development of effective treatments for this debilitating condition. © 2023 IEEE.

The rapid growth of digital payment platforms like OVO, ShopeePay, and GoPay in Indonesia has driven the need for businesses to optimize marketing strategies by analyzing customer interactions through social media. This study leverages Social Network Analysis (SNA) and Power BI to extract insights from Twitter data, offering a comprehensive view of how these platforms engage with consumers and shape brand perceptions. By applying sentiment analysis and classification using IndoBERT results, this study aims to identify key influencers, assess the sentiment around these brands, and visualize marketing communication patterns. The integration of SNA and BI tools provides a detailed, data-driven approach to improving business decision-making in the competitive digital payment market, by utilizing them to evaluate e-wallet tweet activity and user interactions in Indonesia and identifying key periods and regions for targeted marketing. Strategies like loyalty programs and segmented campaigns are recommended to enhance user engagement, address security concerns, and maximize market reach during culturally significant periods such as Eid and the holiday season. © 2024 IEEE.

One way to save time and resources in the human recruitment and hiring process is to post open job positions on the Internet, but the overload of applications creates challenges for hiring managers and companies to select an adequate candidate. One of the solutions is to apply intelligent tools such as Deep Learning and recommender system algorithms to speed up the hiring process and identify the right candidates. In this paper, we propose a two-fold algorithmic approach to 1) building an RNN classifier for resume classification;2) using cosine similarity for resume recommendation to find a candidate that fits job requirements best after selecting all the resumes that belong to the right category. The performance of the proposed RNN classifier is evaluated in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrix criteria. The experiment results have shown that the RNN classifier performs better than the other classifiers such as GNB, Linear SVM, RF, and BERT on the same dataset. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

The authors investigate the potential of pulsed power technology in recycling of E-waste. Applying the pulsed discharge can separate composite materials into plastic and metal. In this study, pulsed discharge was applied to indium tin oxide (ITO) coated plastic films. We used two electrode types: rod-To-rod electrode and a pair of flat plate electrodes to investigate the effect of electrode structure on the metal removal area in detail. A series of single pulse discharges were applied at various electrode distances. As a result, it was revealed that metal can be removed over a wide range by the pulsed discharge using a pair of flat plate electrodes. When the gap between the electrodes was 30 mm, the removal area by the flat plate electrodes was approximately 3.4 times that by the rod electrodes. Analysis of the current density also revealed that the metal removal area was greatly affected by the current density. © 2024 Eindhoven University of Technology.

Batik is an Indonesian world cultural heritage. Batik consists of many kinds of patterns depending on where the batik comes from, Batik-making techniques continue to develop along with technology development. Among the batik making techniques that are widely used are hand-written, stamping, and printing. Batik motifs have been widely used as research material, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. The diverse appearance of batik motifs has attracted many researchers to carry out research on making synthetic batik patterns, one of which uses a Generative Adversarial Network. This paper presents a synthetic batik pattern model based on the Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network with Gradient Penalty. This model has been proven to create new synthetic batik patterns quite well and almost identical with images provided in the dataset, with the notes if the dataset provided is large. © 2023 IEEE.

The process of using ICT to provide services to the public is known as the Indonesian e-Government system, or Sistem Pemerintahan Berbasis Elektronik (SPBE). The e-Government initiative in Jakarta Provincial Health Office involves enhancing collaboration among public health entities for efficient data exchange and streamlined processes, especially between the Provincial and District Health Offices, public hospitals, government clinics, and primary health care centers (Puskesmas). Achieving interoperability requires standardized protocols and a well-defined architectural model to integrate data seamlessly. This study presents a provincial-level architectural model focused on improving electronic health records interoperability, aiming to promote the adoption of the national Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) health information exchange platform and enhance the integrity of health data in Jakarta. The study methodology involves conducting literature reviews, observations, and discussions with representatives from healthcare facilities to develop the e-Government architecture model and prototype of the infrastructure layer aiming to facilitate the interoperability of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) across 93 healthcare facilities, all of which are part of the SPBE users. © 2024 IEEE.

Education stands out as one of the most impactful applications of the metaverse, holding immense potential for the future. Within the realm of satellite communication system science education, the integration of immersive learning through the metaverse adds a layer of interest and interactivity to the teaching and learning process. Numerous design and evaluation techniques have been employed in a growing body of research, aiming to understand how immersive learning via the metaverse can effectively contribute to specific educational objectives. Hence, this research is dedicated to delving into the development of an immersive learning metaverse model for the science of satellite communication systems. The research contributes a model that advocates for a holistic learning approach by integrating metaverse technology, VR, the 6E Instructional Process Model, and the MSLQ evaluation instrument.
