Environmental Disinfection Based on Mobile Intelligent Networking Highly Efficient Ultraviolet Light Machines

Since 2019, the world has suffered from the outbreak of the "Coronavirus Disease (COVID)-19 pandemic. This study used the principle of Ultraviolet (UV)-C disinfection to produce a mobile high-power UV-C sterilizer. It focused on combining intelligent control systems, human sensors, and Internet of Things (IoT) systems to carry out disinfection tasks in unmanned indoor spaces. Because of its mobile nature, the sterilizer could be moved at any time in various learning, research, and activity rooms for disinfection. In addition to manually controlling the sterilizer, a Wi-Fi or Narrowband (NB)-IoT-enabled remote control was provided to start the disinfection process. In order to prevent ultraviolet light from harming the human body, sensors were employed self-acting to detect the presence of people and turn off the ultraviolet light when people were detected in the area. At the same time, a camera on the sterilizer would capture an image and notify the relevant personnel through a LINE notification, to prevent the human body from being exposed to ultraviolet light, causing harm to the teachers and students on campus. During operation, voice broadcast reminders and a status indicator could provide information about the operation status. After disinfection, users could view the disinfection process through a mobile device application or a webpage, which would automatically notify relevant personnel of the disinfection status through a LINE notification. In this way, the disinfection progress could be updated at anytime, anywhere and the current disinfection status in the classroom could be displayed in real-time, allowing teachers and students on campus to carry out teaching and learning in a safe and secure environment. © The Author(s).

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that can attack the lungs and other organs. In the diagnosis of TB, the interpretation of X-ray radiological images requires special skills from medical specialists. However, the lack of experience of medical personnel and focus on X-ray examinations can be a challenge for radiologists because it has the potential to cause diagnostic errors in image interpretation. Therefore, we proposed a web-based application of real-time chest X-ray interpreter by integrating the deep learning model of Vision Transformer (ViT) to interpret chest X-ray images. The inference model was trained and tested on 652 normal and 652 tuberculosis X-ray images. The data preprocessing of Contrast Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) was implemented to increase chest X-ray image contrast as well as inference model performance. The proposed real time system can inteprete the tested chest x-ray images with an accuracy of 95% and with simulation duration time of 4.7 seconds.

Wireless Sensor and Internet of Things (WSIoT) networks are characterized by nodes scattered throughout the environment, posing a significant challenge when it comes to battery replacement. The task of developing an algorithm that effectively reduces energy consumption in IoT networks through the utilization of artificial intelligence and fuzzy logic is a formidable one. Heuristic algorithms emerge as valuable tools in this context, capable of swiftly addressing non-deterministic polynomial problems or approximating optimal solutions with remarkable accuracy. Conversely, mathematical optimization approaches often falter due to their sluggishness or inefficiency, rendering them less suited for the dynamic demands of IoT networks. This study embarks on a novel approach, leveraging the synergy of fuzzy clustering to intricately connect sensors to the network and particle optimization to approximate the initial values of head clusters within the realm of WSIoT. A comprehensive evaluation of our proposed strategy is meticulously conducted through extensive simulations utilizing the NS2 simulator. In this evaluation, we distinguish our algorithm from existing methods, including IoTbWSN and REcsIoT. The results of this comparative analysis are illuminating. In contrast to other methodologies, our proposed approach demonstrates a notable 9.57% improvement in network throughput and a substantial 8.47% reduction in energy consumption. This signifies a remarkable leap forward in the quest to address the challenges posed by energy consumption and battery replacement within the complex landscape of IoT networks. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2023.

The Internet of Drones (IoD) extends the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles, enabling them to participate in a connected network. In IoD infrastructure, drones communicate not only among themselves but also with users and a control center. This interconnected communication framework holds promise for various applications, from collaborative decision-making to real-time data exchange. However, the expansion of communication in IoD also introduces new challenges, particularly in terms of security, privacy and authentication. Unfortunately, the current authentication protocols are inadequate in offering robust security features against various attacks in the IoD environment. To address these security issues and limitations, we proposed a secure protocol for the IoD environment using chaotic maps and hash functions. In addition, we also employed a physically unclonable function in the development of the proposed protocol. We assess the security of the protocol through both informal and formal security analysis. The formal security analysis is conducted through a widely used random or real (RoR) model. The informal analysis shows the rigorous security features against various attacks, such as masquerading, anonymity violation, and physical cloning attacks. Moreover, we compare the performance of the devised protocol with similar existing protocols across important performance parameters, such as communication overhead, computation overhead, and security features. The devised protocol provides a 67.86% and 17.80% reduction in computation and communication overheads, respectively, as compared to related protocols. The analysis demonstrates the proposed protocol's capacity to support secure communication in the IoD environment and satisfy desirable security attributes. © 2014 IEEE.

Smart Buildings are buildings that integrate and combine intelligence, management, control, materials, and construction as a single system to meet all the needs of the building, such as comfort, energy efficiency, and durability. In universities, laboratories are used less frequently than other facilities and classrooms. Courses and students may change in the same classroom, and the period of use of such classrooms is much more extended than in laboratories. However, classrooms may only be used for classes during long breaks or for short periods of non-use between exams. In addition, there is no provision for when the heating system will start to heat up before classes or when it will be turned off after classes. By planning heating and lightning, energy and costs will be saved. This paper presents data acquisition methods for preparing a dataset to create a machine learning (ML) model to save energy loss in university laboratories. The developed model will predict energy consumption in classrooms and laboratories based on weather conditions. The study is being conducted in two stages. The first stage describes how to collect data using electronic devices such as Internet of Things (IoT) controllers of Smart Building Management Systems. The second stage gave possibilities for data analysis and preparation using the phases of the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM). © 2024 IEEE.

Majorization theoretical approach to entanglement enhancement via local filtration

From the perspective of majorization theory, we study how to enhance the entanglement of a two-mode squeezed vacuum (TMSV) state by using local filtration operations. We present several schemes achieving entanglement enhancement with photon addition and subtraction, and then consider filtration as a general probabilistic procedure consisting in acting with local (nonunitary) operators on each mode. From this, we identify a sufficient set of two conditions for these filtration operators to successfully enhance the entanglement of a TMSV state, namely, the operators must be Fock orthogonal (i.e., preserving the orthogonality of Fock states) and Fock amplifying (i.e., giving larger amplitudes to larger Fock states). Our results notably prove that ideal photon addition, subtraction, and any concatenation thereof always enhance the entanglement of a TMSV state in the sense of majorization theory. We further investigate the case of realistic photon addition (subtraction) and are able to upper bound the distance between a realistic photon-added (-subtracted) TMSV state and a nearby state that is provably more entangled than the TMSV, thus extending entanglement enhancement to practical schemes via the use of a notion of approximate majorization. Finally, we consider the state resulting from k-photon addition (on each of the two modes) on a TMSV state. We prove analytically that the state corresponding to k=1 majorizes any state corresponding to 2≤k≤8 and we conjecture the validity of the statement for all k≥9.

Flash flood is a naturally occurring calamity, espe-cially in tropical countries like the Philippines. The wreckage and grief caused by catastrophic typhoons emphasized the need for an Early Warning System (EWS) specifically for flash flood and storm surge applications. This study focuses on the development of an EWS enclosed in a buoy that will operate by floating along the highland rivers of flood-prone areas and sending notifications to disaster management authorities if a flash flood occurs. This system will be able to gather data from the behaviors of water just by observing the Euler angles - yaw ($\lambda$), roll ($\theta$), and pitch (φ) while partially submerged in the middle of a river. The main distinction between this EWS from other systems is that it is an off-grid circuit, can also be submerged in the ocean for storm surge applications, and will utilize an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor to monitor the water behavior. Experiments done for this study confirmed the buoy's waterproof capability not only in securing the integrity of its electrical components but also by gathering Euler angles as the basis of water flow characterization. The program's data yields a graphical representation of yaw, roll, and pitch angles if the water flow is normal, disturbed, and turbulent. Hence, this system is leaning towards low power consumption given that power saving modes like deep sleep mode will be applied to the system which means that using one mode compared with another mode will result in 13.46% better power use optimization. Meanwhile, tests conducted for this study are done in a flume simulator since we can't fully simulate a flash flood. © 2023 IEEE.

This article presents a multimodal electrochemical sensing system-on-chip (SoC), including the functions of cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and temperature sensing. CV readout circuitry achieves an adaptive readout current range of 145.5 dB through an automatic range adjustment and resolution scaling technique. EIS has an impedance resolution of 9.2 mΩ Hz at a sweep frequency of 10 kHz and an output current of up to 120 μA. With an impedance boost mechanism, the maximum detectable load impedance is extended to 22.95 kΩ, while the total harmonic distortion is less than 1%. A resistor-based temperature sensor using a swing-boosted relaxation oscillator can achieve a resolution of 31 mK in 0-85 °C. The design is implemented in a 0.18 μm CMOS process. The total power consumption is 1 mW. © 2007-2012 IEEE.

Exams are an important component of any educational program, including online education. In any test, there is a possibility of cheating, so its detection and prevention is important. This study aims to conduct an in-depth study of the online exam monitoring model approach based on facial recognition used to detect cheating. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria designed, 13 selected studies were obtained. From these studies, we conducted further analysis regarding the Face Detection Method, Face Recognition Method, Initial Feature, Behavior Analysis and Evaluation Metrics used in each study so as to provide answers to research questions. the most frequently used Face detection method was Viola-Jones with a presentation of 20%, then CNN and MTCNN with a total presentation of 21%. The most widely used face recognition method in selected studies is CNN and metrics Accuracy is one of the most frequently used evaluations with a percentage of 33%. While the features that are usually used to detect cheating during online exams include facial motion and head pose which occupies the first position. The second is eye movement, then multiple faces gaze estimation and facial expression is in third place. Other features that also play a role in analyzing cheating behavior are mouth detection, facial vector, landmark location, gesture and posture. © 2022 IEEE.
