Photovoltaic energy has gained prominence in the current context of energy generation. The fundamental element of a photovoltaic system connected to the electric grid is the electronic converter. In order to be marketed, electronic converters must be tested and certified in accordance with current standards. In the certification process, an equipment known as a solar array simulator (SAS) is used. This work presents the modeling and the control structure of a 10 kW SAS for tests of electronic converters for photovoltaic systems. The novelty introduced in this work is the insertion of a passive filter at the SAS output. The purpose of this filter is to reduce the output current ripple, which is directly influenced by the input capacitance of the inverter under test (uncertain variable). It is considered a structure with 2 stages that allows a greater flexibility in relation to the arrangements to be emulated. The results showed that with the use of a passive filter the topology presented operational advantages being able to represent the characteristics of the photovoltaic arrangement and a considerable reduction in the output current ripple of the simulator.

A distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) optical fiber system has been studied using intensity-based optical time-domain reflectometry (i-OTDR). The fiber strain originated by sound waves (pressure waves) is in general quite small to enable the detection using conventional Rayleigh backscattering intensity based systems (low signal to noise ratio). Here, a 10 m portion of optical fiber has been rolled following a plane spiral shape in order increase the fiber surface subjected to the acoustic waves pressure and improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR). The performance of the system within the human voice frequency range (300-3400Hz) has been studied showing to effectively acquire voice signals at different points along a ~2.5 Km fiber.

The sense of agency (SoA) refers to the subjective feeling that an individual can control their own action with their own will. However, it is still unclear which aspects of the motor control process precisely affect the sense of agency. In this study, we investigated how the SoA is modulated by the online motor performance (trajectory error) and the outcome of the reaching movement (endpoint error). The results showed that the invalid priming and the visual feedback delay significantly increased both the trajectory and endpoint errors and that these errors significantly attenuated the SoA. The further correlation analyses showed that the decrease in SoA was significantly correlated with the trajectory error, but not with the endpoint error, when the error was explicitly noticed. We suggest that the deterioration in online motor performance, at least in a reaching movement, is the main cause of the attenuation in the SoA.

This paper will discuss the use of optimal control and Power System Stabilizer (PSS) in improving the oscillation of electric power system. Oscillations in the electric power system can occur due to the sudden release of the load (Switcing-Off). The oscillation of an unstable system for a long time causes the equipment to work in an interruption. To overcome this problem, a control device is required that can work effectively in repairing the oscillation. The power system is modeled from the Single Machine Infinite Bus Model (SMIB). The state space equation is used to mathematically model SMIB. SMIB system which is a plant will be formed togetherness state variables (State-Space), using riccati equation then determined the optimal gain as controller plant. Plant is also controlled by Power Stabilizer System using phase compensation method. Using Matlab Software based simulation will be observed response of rotor speed change and rotor angle change for each of the two controlling methods. Simulation results using the Simulink-MATLAB 6.1 software will compare the analysis of the plant state in Open loop state and use the controller. The simulation response shows that the optimal control and PSS can improve the stability of the power system in terms of acceleration to achieve settling-time and Over Shoot improvement. From the results of both methods are able to improve system performance.
