Wireless transmission is vulnerable to malicious jamming attacks due to the openness of wireless channels, posing a severe threat to wireless communications. Current anti-jamming studies primarily focus on either enhancing desired signals or mitigating jamming, resulting in limited performance. To address this issue, intelligent omni-surface (lOS) is a promising solution. By jointly designing its reflective and refractive properties, the lOS can simultaneously nullify jamming and enhance desired signals. In this paper, we consider an lOS-aided multi-user anti-jamming communication system, aiming to improve desired signals and nullify jamming by optimizing lOS phase shifts and transmit beamforming. However, this is challenging due to the coupled and discrete lOS reflection and refraction phase shifts, the unknown jammer's beamformer, and imperfect jammer-related channel state information. To tackle this, we relax lOS phase shifts to continuous states and optimize with a coupling-aware algorithm using the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality and S-procedure, followed by a local search to recover discrete states. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme significantly improves the sum rate amid jamming attacks. © 2025 IEEE.

A super resolution (SR) accelerator with variable bit compression method is proposed for 4K restoration with > 60 frames-per-second (fps) in mobile devices. Since 4K SR has huge intermediate feature maps, large external memory access (EMA) bandwidth is required that recent mobile processors cannot support. Previous SR processors quantized feature maps and weights for EMA reduction, but it has a trade-off between data compression rate and performance drop. To facilitate > 60 fps 4K SR on mobile processor, this work proposes two key features: 1) Tile-based distribution-aware statistical encoding that results in 61.2% compression rate without information loss; 2) An energy-efficient SR processor which supports variable bit encoding, achieving 59.1% reduction of EMA. Designed with 28 nm CMOS technology, the proposed system can accelerate ×2 scale 4K image restoration at 68.7 fps. It shows 3.69 TOPS of peak performance and 422.1 Mpixels/J of energy efficiency, achieving 1.35× higher energy efficiency than the previous SR processor.

YOLOS-MCI: Automating Microservices Coupling Index Calculation using Vision Transformers

Microservice Architectures (MSA) provide flexibility and scalability in software development. However, accurately measuring the level of interdependence among Microservices continues to be a difficult task. Precisely evaluating this connection is essential for efficient MSA design, maintenance, and future development. Conventional techniques for assessing Microservice coupling are frequently done by hand, require a significant amount of time, and are susceptible to mistakes. This impedes the capacity to make well-informed judgments regarding the integration and adjustment of services. This study introduces a new method for automating the computation of the Microservice Coupling Index (MCI) by utilizing the You Only Look at One Sequence (YOLOS) object identification technique in combination with Vision Transformer (ViTs) technology. YOLOS is utilized for identifying constituents within Unified Modeling Language (UML) Component Diagrams, facilitating precise classification and effective assessment of coupling. The model exhibits varying performance over multiple Intersection over Union (IoU) thresholds and object sizes, with an average precision (AP) of 0.406 over IoU values ranging from 0.50 to 0.95. The maximum precision is achieved at an IoU of 0.50, with an AP of 0.709. The model demonstrates good performance in identifying smaller components, especially when evaluated at a 0.75 IoU threshold. However, it faces challenges in detecting small items, suggesting potential areas for improvement in future iterations. Initial results indicate that this automation greatly decreases the need for manual, labor-intensive tasks and enhances the precision of measuring coupling in MSA, hence facilitating effective decision-making in service integration and modification. Automating the computation of the coupling index has the potential to significantly influence the design and management of durable and readily controllable microservice architectures.

Today, information centric networking enables adaptive video streaming clients to further improve QoE by applying flexible content-based control. However, an adaptive bitrate algorithm makes a client occupy the bottleneck link at excessively high bitrate, reducing the QoE fairness to other clients sharing the bottleneck link. Then, we propose fairAccel, a method of accelerating bitrate-based feedback control for achieving QoE fairness. fairAccel assigns more bandwidth to clients selecting the lower bitrate while suppressing content requests from clients selecting the highest bitrate on the bottleneck link. In addition, to further improve QoE fairness, fairAccel exploits the symmetric routing of ICN content request / response and applies bidirectional feedback control to the content request / response path. Thus, fairAccel accelerates feedback control by mitigating router queues under control of suppressing content requests before excessive traffic is delivered to the response path. Through simulation experiments, fairAccel improves the average bitrate and further improves QoE fairness for representative ABR algorithms.

This research successfully developed an independent Ge-based VCSEL epitaxy and fabrication technology route, which set the stage for integrating AlGaAs-based semiconductor devices on bulk Ge substrates. This is the second successful Ge-based VCSEL technology reported worldwide and the first Ge-based VCSEL technology with key details disclosed, including Ge substrate specification, transition layer structure and composition, and fabrication process. Compared with the GaAs counterparts, after epitaxy optimization, the Ge-based VCSEL wafer has a 40% lower surface root-mean-square roughness and 72% lower average bow-warp. After device fabrication, the Ge-based VCSEL has a 10% lower threshold current density and 19% higher maximum optical differential efficiency than the GaAs-based VCSEL. © 2024 Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Optica Open Access Publishing Agreement.

Data poisoning attacks against recommender systems (RecSys) often assume a single seller as the adversary. However, in reality, there are usually multiple sellers attempting to promote their items through RecSys manipulation. To obtain the best data poisoning plan, it is important for an attacker to anticipate and withstand the actions of his opponents. This work studies the problem of Multiplayer Comprehensive Attack (MCA) from the perspective of the attacker, considering the subsequent attacks by his opponents. In MCA, we target the Heterogeneous RecSys, where user-item interaction records, user social network, and item correlation graph are used for recommendations. To tackle MCA, we present the Multilevel Stackelberg Optimization over Progressive Differentiable Surrogate (MSOPDS). The Multilevel Stackelberg Optimization (MSO) method is used to form the optimum strategies by solving the Stackelberg game equilibrium between the attacker and his opponents, while the Progressive Differentiable Surrogate (PDS) addresses technical challenges in deriving gradients for candidate poisoning actions. Experiments on Heterogeneous RecSys trained with public datasets show that MSOPDS outperforms all examined prior works by up to 10.6% in average predicted ratings and up to 11.4% in HitRate@3 for an item targeted by an attacker facing one opponent. Robust fractional-order sliding mode tracker for quad-rotor UAVs: Event-triggered adaptive backstepping approach under disturbance and uncertainty

In this paper, tracking control of the quad-rotor UAVs in the presence of exterior perturbations and dynamical uncertainties is accomplished using an event-triggered adaptive backstepping fractional-order sliding mode control scheme. For this reason, tracking errors are considered as the difference between the actual and desired states of the quad-rotor system. Moreover, event-triggering errors are defined as the difference between tracking errors at time ti and tracking errors at time t. Afterward, a dynamical model of the quad-rotor system under external disturbance and model uncertainty is obtained based on the tracking errors’ states. Then, the fractional-order sliding mode surface based on the tracking errors and virtual control inputs is proposed to guarantee the convergence of desired tracking errors. Hence, to avoid the complexity in the control process, the virtual control inputs are presented as fractional-order integral-type laws to avoid high derivatives of virtual control inputs. In addition, the event-triggering condition is applied for backstepping fractional-order sliding mode control to prevent frequent periodic action of control inputs. Moreover, employing the backstepping control procedure and the Lyapunov stability concept, the convergence of fractional-order sliding surfaces is guaranteed. Later, the fractional-order adaptive laws are designed to estimate the unknown upper bounds of perturbations and uncertainties. Finally, to demonstrate the efficiency of the control algorithm recommended in this paper, the simulation results on MATLAB/Simulink environment are presented. A comparison between the control method in this paper and another existing technique is prepared to prove the productivity of performance of the offered control method on the quad-rotor system. © 2024 Elsevier Masson SAS

This work focused on plasma-induced nitrogen-doped indium gallium zinc oxide (InGaZnO:N) based resistive switching devices. Nitrogen atoms in the InGaZnO:N can reduce the randomness of oxygen vacancy formation and conducting filaments, resulting in stable and uniform resistive switching (RS) and artificial synaptic performance. Optimized nitrogen and oxygen ion concentration improves the redox reaction depending on their reactivity with InGaZnO due to optimal VO concentration in the switching layer confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) analysis. Device-to-device promising RS variability with ION/IOFF ratio >10 confirmed with multiple devices with low average SET/RESET voltages of 1.35 /[sbnd]1.5 V. Pulse-induced short-term memory learning characteristics with linear weight-update, including synaptic function of short-term potentiation (STP), paired-pulse facilitation (PPF), spike rate-dependent plasticity (SRDP), and experience dependent synaptic weight modification are successfully emulated and demonstrated. The optimization of InGaZnO:N-based memristors provides efficient temporal information processing capability, serving as the physical reservoir computing system, demonstrated through experimental pattern recognition. The potentiaiton/depression of conductance was used for on-chip learning with the street view house numbers (SVHN) dataset. This study suggests that moderate nitrogen-doped ITO/InGaZnO:N/ITO memristors possess potential as synaptic devices for neuromorphic systems. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

The article describes a new method for malware classification,based on a Machine Learning(ML)model architecture specifically designed for malware detection,enabling real-time and accurate malware *** an innovative feature dimensionality reduction technique called the Interpolation-based Feature Dimensionality Reduction Technique(IFDRT),the authors have significantly reduced the feature space while retaining critical information necessary for malware *** technique optimizes the model’s performance and reduces computational *** proposed method is demonstrated by applying it to the BODMAS malware dataset,which contains 57,293 malware samples and 77,142 benign samples,each with a 2381-feature *** the IFDRT method,the dataset is transformed,reducing the number of features while maintaining essential data for accurate *** evaluation results show outstanding performance,with an F1 score of 0.984 and a high accuracy of 98.5%using only two reduced *** demonstrates the method’s ability to classify malware samples accurately while minimizing processing *** method allows for improving computational efficiency by reducing the feature space,which decreases the memory and time requirements for training and *** new method’s effectiveness is confirmed by the calculations,which indicate significant improvements in malware classification accuracy and *** research results enhance existing malware detection techniques and can be applied in various cybersecurity applications,including real-timemalware detection on resource-constrained *** and scientific contribution lie in the development of the IFDRT method,which provides a robust and efficient solution for feature reduction in ML-based malware classification,paving the way for more effective and scalable cybersecurity measures.
