This article discusses the interaction between the public and the Digital Museum, using as a case study the Museum of Tomorrow [Museu do Amanhã], in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The study is based on the use of hashtag and its marking in social networks, making an analysis of the specific places, conceived in design, for the practice of selfies and later publication and marking. The study presents a typical relation of contemporary societies and their relationship with museum and technology, raising the possibility of construction and/or reconstruction of totally digital spaces earmarked for the exhibition of art and history. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

In recent years, with the increase in the number of dogs, paralysis of the lower limbs due to herniated discs in dogs has become a problem. There is no fundamental cure for this condition, and the main treatment is physical therapy. Usually, these dogs need physical therapy with a physical therapist every day, but it’s not realistic. Therefore, it is required that the owner be effective rehabilitation at home. However, quantitative evaluation methods have not been established for physiotherapy because physiotherapy is performed by veterinarians based on their experience. In this paper, we proposes a musculoskeletal model of the dog’s lower limb to analyze the dynamics of rehabilitation movements and confirm its validity by comparing the muscular activity obtained from the model with the measured EMG data. Using proposed model, we performed a simulation experiment to discuss the relationship between the timing of the input force and muscular activity by changing the timing of the input force. From the data obtained in the experiment, we investigated the relationship between the timing of the input force and the muscular activity and clarify how to input a support force for the physical therapy.

In recent years, dogs are commonly kept indoors. Dogs, as animals that inherently walk on grippy outdoor ground, sometimes slip when walking on indoor wooden flooring, which can lead to injuries and arthritis. We have therefore developed a method to increase the coefficient of friction by applying a special coating to the wooden flooring to make it less slippery when the dog walks on it. The objective of this paper is to investigate whether the friction coefficient of the flooring can prevent dogs’ lower limbs from slipping when they walk, and to analyze the effects of lower limb slippage on the musculoskeletal system of dogs when they walk on the flooring. In the measurement experiment, walking movements were performed with and without paint coating on the wooden flooring, the test dogs were applied to a 3D musculoskeletal system simulation software model, and the amount of muscular force exerted was calculated through a simulation experiment with measured data. In addition, the floor reaction forces of the lower limbs during walking were measured and compared, and the effects of the friction coefficient of the floor environment on walking behavior were discussed.

This paper proposes a simple Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) program to classify epileptic seizure. The diagnosis of epileptic seizure involves the identification and different characteristic of the Electroencephalography (EEG) signal. As such, it needs a method for identifying and classifying epileptic seizure. Deep learning is part of a neural network that has the ability and pattern to identify and classify epileptic seizure. CNN has been demonstrated high performance on image classification and pattern detection. In this paper, we combine the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) and CNN to classify epileptic seizure. This experiment uses the wavelet transform to convert signal data of EEG to time-frequency domain images. The output of the wavelet transform is an image that will classify into five attributes. In this experiment, we develop a simple program that will compare with other CNN approach (AlexNet and GoogleNet). The results of this experiment are two kinds of data, accuracy, and loss. The resulting accuracy is 72.49%, and the loss is 0.576. This result has a better learning time than GoogleNet and smaller loss result than AlexNet. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Semantic communication technologies enable wireless edge devices to communicate effectively by transmitting semantic meaning of data. Edge components, such as vehicles in next-generation intelligent transport systems, use well-trained semantic models to encode and decode semantic information extracted from raw and sensor data. However, the limitation in computing resources makes it difficult to support the training process of accurate semantic models on edge devices. As such, edge devices can buy the pretrained semantic models from semantic model providers, which is called "semantic model trading". Upon collecting semantic information with the semantic models, the edge devices can then sell the extracted semantic information, e.g., information about urban road conditions or traffic signs, to the interested buyers for profit, which is called "semantic information trading". To facilitate both types of the trades, effective incentive mechanisms should be designed. Thus, in this paper, we propose a hierarchical trading system to support both semantic model trading and semantic information trading jointly. The proposed incentive mechanism helps to maximize the revenue of semantic model providers in the semantic model trading, and effectively incentivizes model providers to participate in the development of semantic communication systems. For semantic information trading, our designed auction approach can support the trading between multiple semantic information sellers and buyers, while ensuring individual rationality, incentive compatibility, and budget balance, and moreover, allowing them achieve higher utilities than the baseline method. Total Hip Replacement (THR) is surgery on the human hip joint to replace the damaged hip joint due to calcification, accidents, and age factors. The replacement aims to restore the joint architecture and improve functional mobility in the joint. This study aimed to know the effect of hip joint implant fenestrations on the maximum stress produced. This study carried out using the Finite Element Analysis method using the ANSYS workbench Transient Structural module. Four fenestration models were analyzed, namely implant model without fenestration, elliptical fenestration, one large fenestration, and many small hole fenestration. The load used is dynamic in walking conditions. In this study, two materials were compared, namely SS 316 L and Ti-6Al-4V. Both materials were chosen because of their great biocompatibility. The results obtained are that in the dynamic load of the SS 316 L material is not safe because the maximum stress value produced is higher than the yield strength value, while the Ti-6Al-4V material is safe under dynamic load because the maximum stress value is lower than the yield strength.

Dementia is a very common disease among the elderly, and its main symptom is cognitive dysfunction. Relevant research suggests that the course of dementia can be delayed through non-pharmacological intervention. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop a cognitive training system with the aid of digital technology to help people with dementia strengthen their brain and slow their cognitive function degradation. This research cooperates with the Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan, and the research subjects are a total of 16 mild dementia patients with an average age of 79.6 years old, who are divided into a traditional group and a digital group. The experimental tool is the "Recall" digital cognitive application system, as developed by this research, which includes sharing nostalgic storytelling and the introduction of technology for cognitive training. There are five types of systematic cognitive training questions: quiz questions, calculation questions, puzzle questions, weight questions, and silhouette questions, which mainly train memory, logic, and concentration. After treatment, the subjects are investigated via behavior observation, questionnaires, and interviews to learn their perceptions of the usability and experience of digital cognitive application systems for patients with dementia, and the Pearson correlation coefficient is used to analyze the relevance of the four factors of the experience, namely, feel, sense, relate, and think. The results show that the experience of using this system is significantly related in the factors of sense, relate, and think. On the whole, the application system developed in this research should have benefit in the introduction of technology into reminiscence therapy for patients with mild dementia via cognitive training through games. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
