This paper presents an educational support system of skill succession with body motion based on 3D (three-dimensional) biomechanics evaluation. Skill succession using body motion seems different because human cannot attain the perfect copy or imitation of the reference skill motion. We call it the imperfect imitation problem. Then, we propose the 3D skeleton motion viewer and e-learning education system. The learner cannot move the expert motion, however, watching only 3D skeleton motion movie. So, our system supports learner using the judgment of the expert instructors (teacher). In experiment, to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed system, some education of sports such as swimming, darts game and karate are adopted. The evaluation is a learner's improvement and teacher's satisfaction from the interview.

Motivation Here, we make available a second version of the BioTIME database, which compiles records of abundance estimates for species in sample events of ecological assemblages through time. The updated version expands version 1.0 of the database by doubling the number of studies and includes substantial additional curation to the taxonomic accuracy of the records, as well as the metadata. Moreover, we now provide an R package (BioTIMEr) to facilitate use of the database. Main Types of Variables Included The database is composed of one main data table containing the abundance records and 11 metadata tables. The data are organised in a hierarchy of scales where 11,989,233 records are nested in 1,603,067 sample events, from 553,253 sampling locations, which are nested in 708 studies. A study is defined as a sampling methodology applied to an assemblage for a minimum of 2 years. Spatial Location and Grain Sampling locations in BioTIME are distributed across the planet, including marine, terrestrial and freshwater realms. Spatial grain size and extent vary across studies depending on sampling methodology. We recommend gridding of sampling locations into areas of consistent size. Time Period and Grain The earliest time series in BioTIME start in 1874, and the most recent records are from 2023. Temporal grain and duration vary across studies. We recommend doing sample-level rarefaction to ensure consistent sampling effort through time before calculating any diversity metric. Major Taxa and Level of Measurement The database includes any eukaryotic taxa, with a combined total of 56,400 taxa. Software Format csv and. SQL.

Accompanying a person is one of the core capacities of a companion service robot and demands a smooth movement function with collision avoidance. In previous studies, on companion service robots, a robot moves in synchrony with a walking partner. However, in some cases, especially where potentially dangerous obstacles appear in the environment, a robot should lead its partner. A robot that leads its partner in appropriate environments should also enable smoother and more effective movement with the partner. This study aims to develop a motion design that realizes smooth cooperative movement with a human partner. Our proposed robot not only estimates its partner's intention and moves accordingly, but also reveals its own intention to the partner. To realize this objective, we investigate conditions that induce the partner's movement and propose a motion design that follows the partner's intended movement. Our method was installed in a prototype vehicle and evaluated in experiments, and was proved useful as a leading mechanism.

This paper proposes a novel driving assistance system for a manual wheelchair. On an inclination road, there is a high risk of moving the direction, which a manual wheelchair user does not intend, because of a gravitational force. Our proposed system cancels the wheel traction, which is generated according to the inclination of the road, using only servo brakes on each wheel. Our system measures the inclination of the road and estimates the wheel traction generated by a gravitational force. Then, our system cancels this traction and its user can use this wheelchair as its user drives it on no inclination flat ground. Its user can use it intuitively because its user drives this wheelchair by rowing its hand rims as usual and our assistance system works passively with their own intentional force. For realizing this idea, our system uses only servo brakes which can generate the various required brake traction. Our system does not require actuators, and its mechanism is simple and low cost. There is no risk by malfunction of servomotors. We test our proposed assistance system by the experiments with our prototype and verify its effectiveness.

Commonplace objects are being redesigned with digital functionality. Near invisible networks of radio frequency identification tags (RFID) are being deployed on almost every type of consumer product, and the "Ambient intelligence" promises to form a global network of physical objects as ubiquitous as the worldwide web itself. This diverse global network, "the internet of things" (IoT), provides digital connectivity on top of existing infrastructure and items. Nascent "smart object" developments like the presented "UCF Smart Mailbox," not only reformulate our relationship with the objects themselves, but they can also support social relationships that contribute to the sustainability of the society. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

From Art Educational Perspective to Analyze Taiwan Siraya Tribe's Transculturation

Under the impact of the powerful culture and also from the colonial history, this new situation constantly marginalizes and threat ensour local culture. Therefore, Siraya tribe is becoming a disappearing ethnic group under the above impact. This study aims to explore cultural herit agerevit alization, to help the aborigines of facing these tough challenges. Through investigating Siraya tribes’ actual situation, researchers try to first discover the causes then find out solutions to amend this condition, by formulating cultural development patterns through this study Our society should maintain the development of cultural diversity with multiculturalism. However, after three hundred years of colonization by different intruders in the history, the gap between urban and rural areas has brought job shortages and other factors such as the aging population, resulting in the losing balance of development in rural area. Since the hybridculture and multinational ethnic laden with strong mainst ream culture, they subvert the value of material life and affect to the aborigines’ development opportunities. Through cultural homogenization, Siraya people gradually lost it sautonomy, local cultural elements, and even the possession of land. T hese research target son T aiwan's Siraya Aborigines, who live in the disadvant aged areas, are our main case for study. The second author of this paper is actually a Siraya people; we have the mission to help the tribes through art educating process, to convey cultural elements to the young generation and also to the public. It is our hope to set up Siraya tribe as a model, in hope to increase Siraya's cultural ident ification, and bring the positive aspect of multicult uralism through educational process.
