A step-based tutoring system for linear circuit analysis is being developed with the capabilities to automatically generate circuit problems with specified characteristics, including randomly generated topologies and element values. The system further generates fully-worked, error-free solutions using the methods typically taught in such classes, and accepts a rich variety of student input such as equations, matrix equations, numerical and multiple-choice answers, re-drawn circuit diagrams, and sketches of waveforms. A randomized, controlled study was conducted using paid student volunteers to compare the effectiveness of two of our tutorials in comparison to working conventional textbook-based problems. The average learning gain was only 3/100 points for the textbook users, but 29/100 points, about 10 times higher, for the tutorial users. The effect size on the post-test scores was 1.21 pooled standard deviations (Cohen d-value) and was statistically significant. A motivational survey administered to these students yielded a 0.53 point higher rating for the software than for the textbook (on a 1-5 scale). The system is being used in Spring 2013 by over 340 students in EEE 202 at Arizona State and two community colleges. About 99% of these students rated the system as “very helpful” or “somewhat helpful”.

Valley notch filter in a graphene strain superlattice: a Green’s function and machine learning approach

The valley transport properties of a superlattice of out-of-plane Gaussians deformations are calculated using a Green’s function and a Machine Learning approach. Our results show that periodicity significantly improves the valley filter capabilities of a single Gaussian deformation, these manifest themselves in the conductance as a sequence by valley filter plateaus. We establish that the physical effect behind the observed valley notch filter is the coupling between counter-propagating transverse modes;the complex relationship between the design parameters of the superlattice and the valley filter effect make difficult to estimate in advance the valley filter potentialities of a given superlattice. With this in mind, we show that a Deep Neural Network can be trained to predict valley transmission with a precision similar to the Green’s function but with much less computational effort. At the Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe determining accident-prone areas on roads in Lhokseumawe still using manual systems. Determination of accident-prone areas are less effective because the police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe just using the data of the last year and had to repeatedly calculate manually accident-prone areas based on the number of human casualties. In this study the system implementation CUSUM method (Cummulative Summary) to determine the accident-prone areas designed using the web-based programming language PHP. In this system there are three processes to determine areas prone to accidents, the accident rate calculations based on the weighted severity, blacksite calculations using the Z-Score method for determining areas prone to accident blackspots and calculations using the CUSUM method to determine the critical points of an accident. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe years 2009-2013. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This paper addresses the reference tracking control problem for Medical Cyber-Physical Systems (MCPS). The control theory is employed to guarantee the suitable concentration of drugs in the body of patients to guarantee a safe treatment. The MCPS is modeled as a switched system, and the modes consider the different scenarios for the problem. A discrete-time model is utilized for the pharmacokinetic process, and the zero input control strategy is employed to design state-feedback controllers with a guaranteed exponential convergence rate. A numerical experiment is presented to illustrate the validity and effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.

E-voting is an electronic voting information technology service, while E-participation is an information technology service for citizens of the public to provide reports, polls, or suggestions on government policies electronically. The Technology Services E-Participation-VOT (EPV) model is a combined E-Participation and E-Voting service model. The concept of this service model is that citizens transform from E-participation and E-voting services into an EPV model. The purpose of this model is to provide information to participants (citizens) about online-based voting services. This method of developing the EP-Voting Anticipation (EPV) technology model uses agile methods that are effective and flexible in various cases of designing Information Technology models for Information Technology (IT) services that apply a Framework Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). The results obtained from this study are an Information Technology service system model that provides recommendations for participation in conducting electronic elections (E-Voting). © 2020 IEEE.

As the need for achieving optimal performance in prediction models, several recent and complex models have been developed. However, many of these models operate as black boxes, providing little insight into their predictive results. In recent years, three gradient-boosting methods based on Decision Trees have been recommended, i.e., XGBoost, CatBoost, and LightGBM. These methods have proven to deliver competitive performance with fast training times. Nevertheless, in critical domains like security, there is a growing need for increased transparency among stakeholders. One pressing concern in the security field is the proliferation of phishing websites. To address this issue, we propose an explainable machine learning-based approach using gradient-boosting methods with hyperparameter optimization on three phishing website datasets. Our best methods surpass the state-of-the-art phishing website detection methods, achieving accuracy rates of 97.45%, 99.16%, and $\mathbf{9 7. 8 5 \%}$ for the UCI (2015), Mendeley (2018), and Mendeley (2020) datasets, respectively. Subsequently, we implement posthoc explainability using SHAP and LIME for the selected dataset. The experimental results indicate that three features, i.e., length_url, directory_length, and time_domain_activation, are consistently identified as the most influential features in the dataset. Moreover, our proposed approach demonstrates promising results for detecting phishing websites with both high accuracy and explainability.

Immersive learning has gained significant attention with the rising trend of spatial computing, particularly in the after-pandemic era. Numerous research has explored the potential of immersive learning in higher education, primarily on the educational sector. However, prior research has frequently focused too narrowly on the effects of technology and neglected to address the crucial element influencing successful immersive learning in higher education. This study seeks to pinpoint the crucial element contributing to the development of immersive learning experiences. The methodology uses a systematic literature review (SLR) from 2018 up to 2023 to investigate the critical factors of immersive Learning in Higher Education. From the 728 papers initially retrieved, 274 were considered potential candidates, and ultimately, 86 articles were selected based on their relevance to the research question. The results reveal that the critical factors include learning design, technology, immersion, engagement, interactivity, and usability. Academic interests will benefit from this SLR's consequences as institutions create models for designing suitable immersive learning, especially within the context of higher education.

Dynamic programming is a fundamental algorithm that can be found in our daily lives easily. One of the dynamic programming algorithm implementations consists of solving the 0/1 knapsack problem. A 0/1 knapsack problem can be seen from industrial production cost. It is prevalent that a production cost has to be as efficient as possible, but the expectation is to get the proceeds of the products higher. Thus, the dynamic programming algorithm can be implemented to solve the diverse knapsack problem, one of which is the 0/1 knapsack problem, which would be the main focus of this paper. The implementation was implemented using C language. This paper was created as an early implementation algorithm using a Dynamic program algorithm applied to an Automatic Identification System (AIS) dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Energy sector is one of the contributors to climate change besides forestry, environment, and transportation sectors. Then, the results of the COP 26 in Glasgow meeting states that Indonesia have a target to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060 if there is international support for funding and technology with some note that this project does not interfere with availability and affordability. In achieving the zero-emission target, the government is implementing five main principles, which include increasing the use of new renewable energy (NRE), reducing fossil energy, explore the use of electric vehicles in the transportation sector, increasing the use of electricity in households and industries, and utilizing Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). In this paper several proposals can be made to further reduce production costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the North Sulawesi system compared to Electricity Supply Business Plan by PLN which is called RUPTL. Two additional scenarios can be used for the proposal, which are addition of geothermal, solar and pump hydro to replace coal power plant and construction of North Sulawesi interconnection with Central Sulawesi. From the simulation results of the cost and carbon emission analysis between three scenarios, the scenario from RUPTL is the cheapest in terms of cost at 3.295 billion USD and the interconnection scenario is the smallest in terms of emissions, with CO 2 emissions reaching 0 Mt.

Errors in data transmission cannot be known directly when the data transmission process is fulfilled, but error is often prevalent in data transmission. Faulty or missing frames or bits are standard errors and to control or check errors requires a unique method, in this case, the Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject are methods that can be used to do so, comparison of time of error checking process with Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject is very important to get the right method to check the ignorance, from testing performed that the method of Go-Back-N is much faster than the other methods. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
