In this paper is presented the performance analysis of a differential pair sinusoidal oscillator with a surface acoustic wave sensor in the feedback loop. The oscillator components were selected for an oscillation frequency of 117.6 MHz and the SAW sensor model used was based on a piezoelectric crystal. The oscillator performance was verified through computer simulations by analysing the oscillation frequency and the amplitude of the the output voltage. The first analysis showed an amplitude greater than zero and an oscillation frequency close to the resonance frequency of the sensor model. Subsequently, the oscillator performance was analyzed by varying the value of one component at a time using Monte Carlo method. Based on this analysis, it was possible to determine a range of values for each component in which the output maintains oscillation. Finally, the oscillator's performance was analyzed with simultaneous variation in the values of its components. For this simulation, the range of values found in the previous analysis was used, and the variation was carried out using the Monte Carlo method. In this case, the circuit maintains oscillation in 76.8% of the iterations. These results confirm that the oscillator performance is adequate, maintaining oscillation even with variations in the values of its components. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, a pre-synchronization strategy for Grid-Forming inverters is proposed. This strategy is inspired by the phenomena of spontaneous synchronization of networked oscillators. Contrary to previous works, this solution does not rely upon power set-points, so that implementation for operation in non-rated grid conditions is straightforward, without a control structure to adjust these set-points. The proposed strategy is applied to Dispatchable Virtual Oscillator and Syn-chronverter Grid-forming inverters in a Controller Hardware-In-the-Loop (CHIL) testbed. The results obtained shows that pre-synchronization is achieved in both rated and non-rated grid conditions. The results also shows that the Grid-Forming inverters are able to seamlessly transition to grid-connected operation for the studied Grid-forming strategies. © 2023 IEEE.

The tightening global emission regulations are com-pelling original equipment manufacturers and researchers to prioritize electrified solutions. In developing countries, fossfl fuel-powered vehicles are expected to continue being the primary choice for light-duty passenger vehicles in the medium term. It is crucial to recognize that micro and mild hybrid electric vehicles can make a significant contribution to reducing emissions and mitigating environmental impact. Electric machine designs with fewer or no rare-earth permanent magnets will play an important role in the widespread adoption of hybrid solutions. In this context, doubly salient reluctance machines exhibit a simple structure, robust mechanical strength, excellent fault tolerance, and a wide speed regulation range, making them well-suited for in-wheel applications. Particular emphasis should be placed on flux-switching ma-chines, which offer great operating flexibility, efficient heat dissipation, and power density of up to 4.8 kW/kg. This paper introduces a wound-field flux-switching machine designed for in-wheel applications, featuring individual field current control. Firstly, the machine is reconfigured to enable independent control of field currents, with a dedicated test bench equipped for precise current control. The primary objective of this research is to enhance the machine's operational versatility by facilitating electronic adjustment of the number of poles, promoting balanced operation' and auamentina field-weakenina capabilities. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent advances in distribution networks, driven by the integration of renewable energy sources, have spurred the emergence of microgrids, elevating concerns regarded reliability and stability. In this context, precise monitoring of events, particularly those elusive to detection like high-impedance faults (HIFs), becomes imperative. The development of phasor measurement units (PMUs) with their harmonic synchronized measurements has enhanced the monitoring task and fostering the application of synchrophasors even on microgrids. This work introduces a novel method for event classification in microgrids, utilizing combined low-rate PMU data and harmonic synchrophasor time series. Central to our approach is the usage of a state-of-the-art transformer neural network, based on the attention mechanism, to effectively discern HIFs from other faulty and non-fault events. Notably, this methodology accounts for prevalent PMU data quality issues, including noise, missing data, and synchronism errors. Results from real-world HIF data demonstrate a robust performance, with an accuracy rate of approximately 98% in event classification. This harmonic synchrophasor-based strategy showcases promise as an original approach for handling commercial PMU data, offering sufficient robustness for deployment in real-world applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

This work presents the architecture and development of the Serious Game (SG) Memô which is aimed at exercising the Short-Term Memory (STM) of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This serious game proposes an individualized functional approach through Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment (DDA), which considers the performance, the expressed facial emotions, and the level of eye attention during child performance. In addition, it is used to recording the presence of hand and eye stereotypies. The SG is developed in Unity 3D, uses MediaPipe to determine the points of the hands, and is executed by our Socially Assistive Robot (SAR), termed Mobile Autonomous Robot for Interaction with Autistics and Trisomy 21 (MARIA T21). We believe that the creation of SGs to assist in the cognitive development of children with ASD and explore the detection of other stereotyped movements, associating them with a communicative and emotional proposal, is feasible. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This study comprehensively describes the application of linear electromagnetic actuators in automotive suspension systems, focusing on the electromagnetic force necessary in suspension systems operating in passive, semi-active, and active modes and their capability for energy regeneration. The use of electromagnetic actuators as an alternative to traditional shock absorbers makes easy the energy harvesting that is typically lost during vertical vehicle displacement. An initial sizing technique for dimensioning electromagnetic actuators is applied to estimate the requirements for heavy vehicles. Experimental tests are conducted to validate the proposed method and assess the performance of the electromagnetic actuator in the suspension system for passive, semi-active, and active operations. A suitable extrapolation of the validated data is performed to determine the feasibility of the application of the proposed solution for heavy vehicles and identify potential applications and markets based on the road conditions of the ISO 8608 standard. This study offers a comprehensive approach to determining the actuator force for the suspension system and/or studying its potential for energy regeneration. As a result, it becomes possible to analyze the viability of the actuator replacement and provides important insights for further research and development. © 2023 SAE International. This paper proposes the Zero Harmonic Distortion Converter (ZHD) as a master converter (MC) for medium voltage microgrids, delivering sinusoidal waveforms in both grid-connected and islanded mode without sinusoidal capacitive filtering elements. The ZHD MC ensures seamless transitions between modes using a simple control approach that eliminates the need off a voltage closed-loop control for grid-connected, islanded, and transition modes, using only a current closed-loop control for grid-connected operation. Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop results show the performance of the ZHD MC converter. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper presents an off-board charger system for any electric vehicle based on a single-stage power converter operation that performs as a three-phase pulse width modulation rectifier. To enhance the safety issue by itself, a step-down transformer with galvanic isolation is added. Additionally, the off-board charger system allows bidirectional power flow in both grid-to-vehicle (G2V) and vehicle-to-grid operations. To analyze this system, only G2V operation is shown by comparing a two-level power converter charger with a three-level neutral point clamped power converter charger. In light of its controller, the off-board charger is designed to charge a battery in constant current and constant voltage mode in compliance with Level 2 of charging power. Based on this controller, it can support grid power quality under a unity power factor. Simulation-based verification is conducted on a maximum power rating of 22 kW to claim the performance of steady-state operation and dynamic operation. © 2023 IEEE.

Despite the potential benefits that the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) can bring to the system, it may cause problems related to power quality constraints, such $as$ reverse power flow in substation and overvoltages. An effective approach to address these problems involves the adoption of reactive and active power control in grid-tie inverters associated with DER. Therefore, this paper assesses the impacts of grid-tie inverter control modes, including both Volt-Var and Volt-Watt strategies, on the DER hosting capacity. In order to improve the overall system operation, modifications in the Volt-Var and Volt-Watt curves were proposed. It is noteworthy that these control strategies can have adverse effects on certain distribution system performance indicators, such $as$ voltage deviation and power losses;for this reason, these indicators are also evaluated in this study. A stochastic approach was adopted to deal with the uncertainties associated with DERs and loads. Finally, from tests conducted in the IEEE 33-bus test system, it was concluded that the proper adjustment of the Volt-Var and Volt-Watt control curves significantly influences DER hosting capacity, $as$ well $as$ voltage deviation and power losses. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents the control of three-level PWM committed to a three-level twelve-switch inverter-fed induction motor drive. The proposed control is totally capable of extracting the maximum DC utilization with the classical continuous and discontinuous PWM. Moreover, in the light of the multi-level inherency, the low switching frequency is attractive to this application to avoid the high power losses, while it can maintain the stability of the operation. Regardless of the single or double carrier waves, optimized switching states associated with the proposed logical operation part, which is responsible for obtaining the multi-level characteristic of the inverter, are also proposed. Importantly, through the MATLAB/Simulink program, the steady-state and dynamic response of the high-performance drive with the classically indirect vector control are definitely investigated to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. © 2023 IEEE.
