Production of single crystal seeds of organic nonlinear optical materials (4-dimethylamino-N-methly-4-stilbazolium tosylate, DAST) by laser ablation was demonstrated. Here, laser ablation of DAST crystals in a supersaturated solution was induced with focused laser pulses, which resulted in the generation of crystal seeds that grew independently from the original (mother) crystal. We found that the seed crystals showed single crystallinity with nonlinear optical properties (terahertz wave generation), indicating that laser irradiation did not deteriorate the quality of the seed crystals. Systematic screening of laser parameters showed that the number of seed crystals tends to increase with laser energy and pulse duration. High-speed imaging of the microseeding dynamics revealed that the generation of seed crystals could be attributed to not only primary effects of laser ablation (e.g., melting, vaporization, and mechanical disruption via photoexcitation of crystals) but also secondary effects such as mechanical stimuli due to laser-induced cavitation bubbles. This laser ablation method is expected to be used as a practical tool for the precise spatial control of the microseeding of various functional materials. © 2023 American Chemical Society.

Opinion has always affected businesses and individuals especially from the Public. People react through social media and spread it incompletely. The situation was then accepted as public opinion. There are three categories of opinion i.e., positive, negative, and neutral. To investigate public opinion on a particular issue of interest, sentiment analysis might be employed. By offering a solution to the text classification challenge, this experiment focuses on the perception of airline tweets among the American public. We offer a method to classify tweets as positive, negative, or neutral using three machine learning classifiers: Random Forest Classifier, Naive Bayes Classifier, and K-Nearest Neighbors Classifier. We examined the performance of three machine learning classifiers in terms of accuracy, average precision, average recall, and average f-1 score. The results demonstrate that the Random Forest Classifier, which produces 82% accuracy, 80% average precision, 82% average recall, and 80% average f1-score, performs the best among the machine learning classifiers. © 2023 IEEE.

Seed treatment with non-thermal plasma has seen a tremendous increase in both direct and indirect applications recently. In this review, we examined the effects of direct plasma irradiation, plasma-activated water (PAW), plasma-activated Ringer’s lactate solution, and plasma-treated soil on seeds, resulting in positive, negative, and neutral changes. Furthermore, we will compare the impact of pressure and feed gases on seed germination and seedling growth. Addition-ally, we focused on the types of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) and their concentrations produced in the gas and liquid phases, as these play a crucial role in germination percentage and seedling growth. In conclusion, we find that plasma agriculture’s success is contingent on seed morphology, the types and concentrations of reactive species, and specific plasma characteristics. © 2023 by Begell House, Inc.

Nonlinear negative imaginary systems find application in a range of engineering fields, including the control of flexible structures and air vehicles. Nevertheless, unlike their linear counterparts, the theory for nonlinear negative imaginary systems is not as well-established. In this paper, we propose a generalized k-th order dissipativity framework with respect to a supply rate which is a function of the k-th time-derivative of the system output. It is shown that positive realness and negative imaginaryness can be defined in this general framework in a unified manner. Then, necessary and sufficient conditions for first order dissipativity of nonlinear systems are obtained. These capture and are more general than the negative imaginary property. Moreover, the concept of exponentially negative imaginary systems for both linear and nonlinear systems is developed and the required conditions are obtained.

Indonesia has enormous geothermal potential, but it only contributes 5% to Indonesia's energy matrix. During 37 years of operation, PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy Kamojang area has been operating to produce electricity and is currently capable of supplying and distributing electricity to the Java-Bali area with a capacity of 60 MWe. However, this can run into a decrease in the efficiency and effectiveness of system performance due to energy losses in several geothermal power plant components during energy conversion. In this case, exergy analysis at PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy Kamojang area Unit 4 direct-dry steam cycle was done on each component and state. This aims to know the energy and exergy stream and where it happened irreversibly at the component. The biggest irreversibility value occurred at the turbine and main condenser, with a value of 21,693.890 kW and 21,688.148 kW. The total irreversibility of all systems is 58,326.201 kW, while the total exergy inlet systems is 119,308.457 kW, so the value efficiency exergy obtained is 51.13%. Based on the environment as dead state analysis, an efficiency exergy value is inversely proportional to the irreversibility value and ascending environment temperature. System optimization was done with the genetic algorithm method, with variable values at the pressure wellhead and inlet turbine for the overall exergy efficiency value. The value obtained from optimization is 11.98 bar at the wellhead and 10.023 bar at the inlet turbine, and the overall efficiency exergy increased by 51.22%. © 2023 The Author(s)

This paper proposes a scaled nonlinear H control of an Unmanned Aerial Manipulator (UAM) from the perspective of the end-effector. The equations of motion of the UAM, obtained from the Euler-Lagrange approach, describe the end-effector dynamical behavior, taking into account the multi-body mechanical system composed by a quadrotor UAV and a planar manipulator. Then, a single-layer control strategy is designed in order to directly control the pose of the end-effector. Aiming to improve the inertia matrix conditioning, the UAM dynamic model is scaled to be used into the proposed nonlinear H controller, which is implemented in an embedded system. Finally, a numerical experiment is executed in a Hardware-In-the-Loop framework using the ProVANT Simulator software, corroborating the good performance of the proposed controller. © 2021 IEEE.
