In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company's business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal. © 2023 IEEE.

This study focuses on the analysis of lightning flashes (th, 2021, between 13:00 and 17:00 local time (UTC+8). Three flash flood events have been observed at three sites namely Kg. Sungai Putat (Site 1), Melaka International Trade Centre (Site 2), and Lebuh Raya Ayer Keroh Lama (Site 3). The observations of lightning activities were using a fast-antenna (FA) system, a constant altitude plan position indicator (CAPPI) radar echo, and cloud top height from Himawari-8 satellite image. The total number of detected lightning in this study is 208 flashes. Out of 208 flashes, 59 positive cloud-to-ground (+CG), 15 negative cloud-to-ground(-CG), 66 positive narrow bipolar event(+NBE), 7 negative bipolar event(-NBE), and 110 intracloud flashes have been identified. The highest reflectivity value was 53 dBZ recorded at Site 1 with estimated cloud top height (CTH) value of around 14 km. The relationship analysis between lightning activity and flash floods demonstrates that tropical thunderstorms generate a greater number of positive cloud-to-ground lightning strikes when cloud top reached 14 km. Moreover, there is a substantial correlation between lightning flash rate and the highest reflectivity value, which exceeds 50dBZ, at all three flash flood locations. Therefore, it is evident that persistent rainfall is a significant contributing factor to the occurrence of flash floods, even if the intensity of the rainfall is not particularly high. © 2024 IEEE, © VDE VERLAG GMBH ∙ Berlin ∙ Offenbach.

Circular eight-room maze for assessing spatial learning and memory functions in rats: An example using a traumatic brain injury model

Background and objectives: This study introduced an animal cognitive function assessment system using a novel circular eight-room maze (CERM). The CERM, designed for tracking path trajectories in animal models of cognitive impairment pathologies such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), comprised a 120-cm diameter disk with eight rooms (30 cm × 25 cm × 30 cm). Methods: These rooms have magnetic interfaces for modular assembly and disassembly. Notably, one room remained dark and contained food, while the remaining seven rooms automatically lit up when a rat entry, facilitating the assessment of the rat's learning and spatial memory. An infrared night vision camera captured the animal's search trajectory, and binary image processing techniques were employed to eliminate noise and extract the rat's position coordinates to record the rat's path trajectories. The system automatically calculated various cognitive assessment parameters, such as latency, distance traveled, time spent in each quadrant, inner and outer area exploration times, short-term and long-term memory errors, and the number of entries to all the rooms by chance/by memory. Results: The analysis of overall path trajectories revealed increasingly erratic movement and a growing reliance on chance to enter rooms in rats with TBI over time, likely due to declining memory and the consequent inability to locate the food room. Moreover, increased trajectories in the first quadrant and inner area characterized the behavior of rats with TBI, with statistically significant differences from the sham group observed on day 7. By day 28, all cognitive parameters except short-term memory error significantly differed between the two groups. Conclusion: Experimental data indicated a substantial increase in irregular search behavior in the TBI group over time, suggesting deterioration in cognitive function and an inability to accurately recall the food room. LoRaWAN is a network protocol characterized by low latency, long-range wireless transmission reaching distances of tens of kilometers, and low power consumption of end devices (nodes). These properties favor the application of this technology in various fields related to the Internet of Things, such as environmental monitoring. This article presents methodological strategies for implementing and analyzing a wireless sensor network based on LoRaWAN technology in a landfill to promote future monitoring of system variables. Therefore, a radio station consisting of a LoRaWAN gateway was installed. Physical variables that could influence the proper functioning of the network were considered, such as physical location and specification of the LoRaWAN gateway antenna, obstacles between devices and data transmission parameters. Finally, the analysis of the network performance in the landfill indicated that the most significant issue pertains to the shaded areas resulting from the irregular terrain.

This work presents a performance comparison between the newly developed Manta Ray Foraging Optimization (MRFO) and two different variants created for tuning a decentralized fractional order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controller for a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) application. The application consists of a ball mill pulverizing system to pulverize coal and maximize fuel efficiency. MRFO and its applications have the task of finding the optimal controller variable values to control the system's temperature and pressure. The MRFO is a metaheuristic based on the behavior of manta rays, and although it shows efficient performance it may be improved through the use of techniques which generate new variants of the algorithm. Two techniques were used in the de-velopment of new variants: Quantum mechanics and opposition-based learning. The three different versions of MRFO were used to minimize a custom fitness function which is a combination of the integral time squared error (ITSE) and the overshoot of the system response. Simulations were carried using Simulink and Matlab softwares. For analyzing the performances, statistical measures such as minimum, maximum, best, mean, median, and standard deviation of the fitness function over 50 runs were used. Additionally, the different variants were also compared for minimizing 10 benchmark functions. The results show that the use of the previously mentioned techniques improve the performance of the original MRFO in optimizing the FOPID to control the ball mill pulverizing system.

Batik is an Indonesian world cultural heritage. Batik consists of many kinds of patterns depending on where the batik comes from, Batik-making techniques continue to develop along with technology development. Among the batik making techniques that are widely used are hand-written, stamping, and printing. Batik motifs have been widely used as research material, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. The diverse appearance of batik motifs has attracted many researchers to carry out research on making synthetic batik patterns, one of which uses a Generative Adversarial Network. This paper presents a synthetic batik pattern model based on the Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network with Gradient Penalty. This model has been proven to create new synthetic batik patterns quite well and almost identical with images provided in the dataset, with the notes if the dataset provided is large. © 2023 IEEE.

Diamond radiation detector with $\mathrm{Ti} / \mathrm{Pt} / \mathrm{Au}$ electrodes was fabricated from a heteroepitaxial diamond grown on a Ir/sapphire substrate. The diamond substrate measured $4 \mathrm{~mm} \times 4 \mathrm{~mm} \times$ 0.5 mm was cut and polished. The $\mathrm{Ti} / \mathrm{Pt} / \mathrm{Au}$ electrodes were deposited on the polished surfaces by spattering method. Thin gold wires were bonded between the electrodes and a printed circuit board. The device was irradiated with high-energy X-rays from a radiation therapy treatment system at room temperature. The X-rays at 6 MV were irradiated for 12 seconds. The total amount of absorbed dose was about 1 Gy. The device exhibited linear response corresponding to the applied bias voltage between the electrodes of the front and back sides. The higher bias voltage resulted in higher charge amount and less standard deviation. The charge amount per unit volume was about 14000 times higher than that of a conventional ionization chamber at maximum. The results indicated that the heteroepitaxial diamond detector with $\mathrm{Ti} / \mathrm{Pt} / \mathrm{Au}$ electrodes had a capability for high energy X-ray radiation detection with high sensitivity and high reproducibility.

Revisiting Near-Far Field Boundary in Dual-Polarized XL-MIMO Systems

Extremely large-scale multiple-input multiple-output (XL-MIMO) is expected to be an important technology in future sixth generation (6G) networks. Compared with conventional single-polarized XL-MIMO, where signals are transmitted and received in only one polarization direction, dual-polarized XL-MIMO systems achieve higher data rate by improving multiplexing performances, and thus are the focus of this paper. Due to enlarged aperture, near-field regions become non-negligible in XL-MIMO communications, necessitating accurate near-far field boundary characterizations. However, existing boundaries developed for single-polarized systems only consider phase or power differences across array elements while irrespective of cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) variances in dual-polarized XL-MIMO systems, deteriorating transmit covariance optimization performances. In this paper, we revisit near-far field boundaries for dual-polarized XL-MIMO systems by taking XPD differences into account, which faces the following challenge. Unlike existing near-far field boundaries, which only need to consider co-polarized channel components, deriving boundaries for dual-polarized XL-MIMO systems requires modeling joint effects of co-polarized and cross-polarized components. To address this issue, we model XPD variations across antennas and introduce a non-uniform XPD distance to complement existing near-far field boundaries. Based on the new distance criterion, we propose an efficient scheme to optimize transmit covariance. Numerical results validate our analysis and demonstrate the proposed algorithm's effectiveness. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Nearly two billion air-conditioning (AC) units are currently being used for space cooling worldwide. The majority of these ACs use R134a as the working fluid, a greenhouse gas (GHG) with a global warming potential (GWP) of 1300 kg-CO2-eq. According to the rules set by the world environment safety organizations, the GWP of domestic air-conditioning systems must not exceed 750 kg-CO2-eq. Hence, the R134a must be phased out by 2025, and an alternative refrigerant with similar thermodynamic properties yet low GWP is required. Therefore, the authors have investigated several potential binary/ternary refrigerant blends in this study. Among the studied refrigerants, R445A, R30A, and NPB2 (newly proposed blend: 8% R152a + 92% R1234yf) can reduce 90–99% global warming impact (more than 200 million tonnes of CO2 emission equivalent) caused by the domestic air-conditioning systems every year. © 2023, The Institution of Engineers (India).

The implementation of Gated Recurrent Neural Networks (GRU) to generate background music (BGM) combines deep learning technology with music that is used for the visual content of a commercial or educational. Indeed, this BGM is necessary to enhance the intended message expressed to the other audience. This work aimed to provide the model network of GRU which is based on RNN to generate multi-label genres of music by using the open source of GTZAN to evaluate the new BGM. Our GRU networks can solve the vanishing gradient problem by utilizing both the reset gate and the update gate on the network. In the results, we achieved a new BGM that synchronized with the human mood which made more variety of sounds.
