In this study, a Terahertz (THz) band antenna which can regulate its own resonant frequency without the requirement of manual adjustment is simulated. A polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) substrate is applied onto a rectangular graphene patch antenna. With a voltage potential applied onto the PVDF, the patch antenna can attenuate its frequency by physically changing the shape of the antenna, and in turn its resonant frequency. These antennas are within a 0.1 THz band between 1.32 THz to 1.22 THz measured from a radial bend of a flat surface to r = 75 μm, fitting into a return loss (S11) above -30 dB. Although the return loss did not show consistency, the resonating frequency shifted at a linear rate relative to the cylindrical bending.

This research paper examines the accuracy of the logistic regression method in predicting employee attrition. Employee attrition is of particular interest to human resources departments due to its impact on organizational performance and employee satisfaction. Specifically, this study aims to establish the relationships between various control variables and the binary response variable representing employee attrition. Using the popular IBM HR Analytics Employee Dataset, we assess the contribution of each control variable to prediction accuracy. Additionally, we determine the correlation between each control variable and employee attrition data. For binary control variables, we use the phi correlation, while for non-binary control variables, we employ the point-biserial correlation coefficient. Our results reveal a positive correlation between the value of the correlation coefficient and the improvement in prediction accuracy, highlighting an important principle in building logistic regression models for similar cases.

The use of multiobjective optimization procedures for control tuning has been constantly explored, presenting satisfactory results, and generating significant contributions to control engineering. In this way, the field of robust control can benefit significantly from the integration of multiobjective optimization design procedures for robust Proportional-Integral-Derivative (RPID) controller synthesis, enabling innovative solutions to complex control challenges. Due to this fact, this paper explores an approach to utilize multiobjective optimization algorithms in a simplified procedure, considering uncertain systems in the form of interval plants with uncertain poles, the Kharitonov theorem is used to obtain a region of stability as search space for the multiobjective algorithm, being the optimization process performed over a nominal system model. Two numerical cases and a flexible actuator model were used to demonstrate the procedure for RPI synthesis, resulting in robustly stable controllers with optimized performance over error and control signal effort measures.

Lithium-ion batteries (LIB) are the best technology for supplying and storing energy for electric mobility systems. Despite that, this technology is sensitive to abuses that can compromise its lifetime and cause fire and explosion risks. In this context, if LIB is not correctly controlled, some abuses, such as overcharging (OC) and over-discharging (OD), can be observed and provoke a loss of capacity. Therefore, this work presented the application of several experiments in cells, of the NMC type, under OC and the combination of OC and OD. The results indicated that cells charged until 4.4 and 4.5 V and discharged until 3.0 V do not lose capacity for twenty-five cycles, but more cycles should be done to understand the impact over time. On the other side, the cell charged until 4.6 and 4.8 V had its security protection romped in the fourth charging cycle, and the cell charged until 5.0 V had its safety compromised in the first charging cycle. Conversely, cells with a combination of OC and OD were more compromised. In this context, while a cell is submitted only with OC and does not lose capacity, a cell under OC and then under OD had its protection romped in the third charging cycle. Cells under 4.6 V and 4.8 V lost capacity during the second charging cycle. In conclusion, OC provokes a high level of degradation in the cell, but the combination of OC and OD causes even more degradation.
