The use of renewable and alternative energy sources has been encouraged and has grown in recent years, with solar energy composing 2.6% of the Brazilian national energy matrix. However, to democratize and expand its use in remote non-grid-connected regions, it is necessary to search for feasible alternatives to replace diesel-based generators mainly used in isolated systems. Therefore, this paper presents a technical and economic feasibility analysis of a hybrid power generation plant composed of solar and gas sources focused on isolated applications. A case study comparing the proposed hybrid system to a conventional solar off-grid system is also presented.

Industry 4.0 (I4.0) is a transforming and global phenomenon based on connectivity and improvement of the industrial data usage. I4.0 relies on some technological pillars, such as computer simulation, in order to optimize processes in real time and maximize their efficiency. However, there are uncertainties on how these technologies must be implemented at a strategic, technical, and human capital level. In fact, a gap can be found in scientific literature regarding how different I4.0 technologies will support the automotive electrification process. That said, this paper first provides a comprehensive review of the challenges associated with automotive electrification, which then allows the proposition of a preliminary correlation to I4.0 features, frameworks, and their benefits.

This paper introduces a novel interleaved inverter topology for DC-AC conversion in power electronics applications. The proposed topology leverages a semiconductor-level interleaving technique to overcome the limitations of conventional interleaved inverters. Through comprehensive analysis and simulation studies, it is demonstrated that the interleaved inverter achieves higher power density and improved ripple frequency as compared to conventional counterparts. One of the main advantages of the proposed technology over conventional interleaving converters is the use of a single inductor, which enables its use not only in grid-tied applications but also in electric drives.
