In this paper, we investigate the performance of HWMP, OLSR and DD protocols in a VANET crossroad scenario. The mobility patterns of vehicles are generated by means of SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility) and as communication protocol simulator is used NS3 (Network Simulator 3). For the simulations, we used IEEE 802.11p standard, Two Ray Ground Propagation Loss Model and sent multiple CBR flows over UDP between 20 source-destination pairs. We use Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), throughput and delay as evaluation metrics. We compared the performance of three protocols and the simulation results shows that the DD protocol has better PDR and throughput compared with HWMP and OLSR protocol. However, the DD protocol has a long delay because is a delay tolerant protocol.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted gaps in health surveillance systems, disease prevention, and treatment globally. Among the many factors that might have led to these gaps is the issue of the financing of national health systems, especially in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), as well as a robust global system for pandemic preparedness. We aimed to provide a comparative assessment of global health spending at the onset of the pandemic;characterise the amount of development assistance for pandemic preparedness and response disbursed in the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic;and examine expectations for future health spending and put into context the expected need for investment in pandemic preparedness. Methods: In this analysis of global health spending between 1990 and 2021, and prediction from 2021 to 2026, we estimated four sources of health spending: development assistance for health (DAH), government spending, out-of-pocket spending, and prepaid private spending across 204 countries and territories. We used the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s Creditor Reporting System (CRS) and the WHO Global Health Expenditure Database (GHED) to estimate spending. We estimated development assistance for general health, COVID-19 response, and pandemic preparedness and response using a keyword search. Health spending estimates were combined with estimates of resources needed for pandemic prevention and preparedness to analyse future health spending patterns, relative to need. Findings: In 2019, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, US$9·2 trillion (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 9·1–9·3) was spent on health worldwide. We found great disparities in the amount of resources devoted to health, with high-income countries spending $7·3 trillion (95% UI 7·2–7·4) in 2019;293·7 times the $24·8 billion (95% UI 24·3–25·3) spent by low-income countries in 2019. Due to the amount of anonymity afforded to users of the Tor infrastructure, Tor has become a useful tool for malicious users. With Tor, the users are able to compromise the non-repudiation principle of computer security. Also, the potentially hackers may launch attacks such as DDoS or identity theft behind Tor. For this reason, there are needed new systems and models to detect the intrusion in Tor networks. In this paper, we present the application of Neural Networks (NNs) for intrusion detection in Tor networks. We used the Back propagation NN and constructed a Tor server and a Deep Web browser (client). Then, the client sends the data browsing to the Tor server using the Tor network. We used Wireshark Network Analyzer to get the data and then use the Back propagation NN to make the approximation. The simulation results show that our simulation system has a good approximation and can be used for intrusion detection in To networks.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of First Contact, Prophet and Spray-and-Wait protocols in a Vehicular Delay Tolerant Network (VDTN) crossroad scenario. The mobility patterns of vehicles are generated by means of SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility) and as communication protocol simulator is used ONE (Opportunistic Network Environment). For the simulations, we used IEEE 802.11p standard and TwoRayGround Propagation Loss Model. We use Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Relay Delivery Ratio (RDR), hop count and delay as evaluation metrics. We compared the performance of three protocols and the simulation results show that for PDR the Prophet protocol has better performance than other protocols. Considering RDR, the performance of First Contact and Spray-and-Wait protocols is better than Prophet protocol. For hop count, the performance of Spray-and-Wait protocol is better than other protocols. While for delay, the performance of Prophet protocol is better than other protocols.

Several solutions have been proposed for improving the Quality of Service (QoS) in wireless cellular networks, such as Call Admission Control (CAC) and handover strategies. However, none of them considers the usage of different interfaces for different conditions. In this work, we propose a Fuzzy-Based Multi-Interface System (FBMIS), where each node is equipped with two interfaces: the traditional cellular network interface and Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET)interface. The proposed FBMIS system is able to switch from cellular to ad-hoc mode and vice versa. We consider four input parameters: Distance Between Nodes (DBN), Node Mobility (NM), Angle between Node and Base station (ANB), and User Request Security (URS). We evaluated the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations using MATLAB. The simulation results show that our system has a good performance.

With the fast development of wireless technologies, Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are becoming an important networking infrastructure due to their low cost and increased high speed wireless Internet connectivity. In this paper, we used our proposed and implemented system based on Hill Climbing algorithm, called WMN-HC for mesh router node placement in WMNs. We analyze WMN-HC simulation system data for different number of nodes using Friedman test. We took into consideration 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 mesh routers and 24, 48, 96, 192, 384 mesh clients. We use Size of Giant Component (SGC) and Number of Covered Mesh Clients (NCMC) as metrics. From the analysis, for all cases, the p-value of SGC is more than 0.05. Thus, we adopt H0. On the other hand, for NCMC, we adopt H1 because the p-value is less than 0.05. Friedman test results show that there is not difference for SGC parameter. However, there is difference for NCMC parameter.

With the accelerating development of aged tendency of population and rapid growth in the number of the disabled caused by diseases or injuries, the wheelchair with good performance for the aged and disabled is attracting the attention from the society. A wheelchair can provide the user with many benefits, such as maintaining mobility, continuing or broadening community and social activities, conserving strength and energy, and enhancing quality of life. The wheelchair body must be compact enough to go through narrow doorways. The wheelchair must be wide enough to prevent the patient from falling on the floor. A large footprint is therefore desirable for stability and safety, while wheelchairs must conform to dimensional constraints. In this paper, we present the implementation and evaluation of an Omni directional wheelchair, which has a small size and can move easily in narrow spaces. In order to evaluate the implemented wheelchair, we carried out some experiments and discussed some implementation and application issues. The experimental results show that the implemented wheelchair in general works properly, but its still needs improvements.

Ad-Hoc Networks, Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs), Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are attracting a lot of attention from wireless network researchers, because of their potential use in several fields such as collaborative computing and communications. Considering mobility of the terminals, routing is a key process for operation of WMNs. In this paper, we present the implementation of a simulation system for these networks. We analyze the performance of AODV, OLSR and HWMP protocols considering static and mobile node scenarios. For evaluation we considered throughput, delay and remaining energy metrics. The simulation results show that for both scenarios, the AODV protocol performs better than other protocols. The delay of AODV in static scenario is lower than other protocols. However, the delay of HWMP is better than other protocols in mobile scenario. For all routing protocols, the remaining energy of mobile scenario is higher than static scenario.
