Belawan Port is one of the main ports in Indonesia whose role and function are important in the national logistics system. Belawan Port is a gateway for the Province of North Sumatra. The port must have sustainability in carrying out its role and function as transportation and economic infrastructure. In this research, Belawan Port sustainability will be evaluated from several aspects or dimensions, namely ecology, economy, social culture, technology, and institutions and law. Belawan port sustainability analysis using the Multidimensional Scaling method, using the modified Rapfish program. The analysis is carried out on five dimensions and 49 attributes/factors, which are used as a reference in the SDGs program. Not every SDG will be relevant for every business, however, every SDG should be considered. SDGs no.4 and no.5 are not directly related to port management activities, while SDGs no.8,9,11,14,17 are directly related. From the analysis obtained Ecology sustainability index = 48.38 (less-sustainable), Economic sustainability index = 42.89 (Less-Sustainable), Socio-Cultural sustainability index = 52.47 (Fair-Sustainable), Technological sustainability index = 54.11 (Fair-Sustainable), Institutional and Legal sustainability index = 50.74 (Fair-Sustainable). With policy and program interventions, the sustainability of the existing Belawan Port in the short term can be improved to be fair-sustainable for all dimensions (ecology, economy, social & culture, Technology, Institution & Law) evaluated. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This research aims to build a mathematical model to formulate the problems of implementing knowledge management systems in companies that often face obstacles in achieving the desired objectives and goals. With increasing competition in the business sector, organizations or organizations realize the importance of utilizing the knowledge assets that reside in each individual and organization. If this knowledge can be managed optimally, it can become a competitive advantage for the company due to the emergence of innovative ideas by the concepts of knowledge management theory. By implementing optimal knowledge management (KM), companies can design innovative solutions to improve business operations and increase overall revenue. The factor analysis method will be used to find the determining factors for the success of the implementation of knowledge management systems (KMS) and the regression analysis method will also be used to form a mathematical model of several new factors which are formed as independent variables with the current level of community understanding of KMS as the dependent variable. The research results provide insight into strategies to improve success factors to successfully facilitate KMS implementation. This study contributes to existing knowledge management by providing insight into dynamics that go beyond the technical aspects of KMS, ultimately developing strategies for more effective and efficient utilization of knowledge and organizational growth and supporting competitive advantage for companies. © 2024 IEEE.

Changes in land use and land cover play a critical role, especially in the Lore Lindu National Park (TNLL) area, impacting on ecosystem functions. This study was aimed at analyzing the dynamics of land change and the factors influencing the land change in this National Park. The methods used were the GIS technique and a binary logistic regression model. The land changes locating between Sigi Regency and Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, which consisted of thirteen sub-districts in the TNLL region acquiring from Landsat satellite data acquisition of 1997, 2002, 2013, and 2018. The dynamics of land changes during the period of 1997-2002 has decreased the forest area by 2,643 ha, and the next period, 2002-2013, the decline of forest area has reached 4,265 ha, and the overall the dynamics of land change experiences a significant increase from 1997 to 2018 which declines the forest areas approximately 10,175 ha and followed by a decline of the meadow area in 1,726 ha changing function into the built-up land of 526 ha, mixed gardens of 1,189 ha, fields/moorings of 3,019 ha, rice fields of 1,548 ha and shrubs of 5,619 ha. The factors influencing the land change in this TNLL region based on the results of binary logistic regression analysis are the population density (X5), distance from the settlement (X3), distance from the road (X2), distance from the capital (X4), and topographic conditions (X1). Of these five variables, the population density has the highest negative regression coefficient, which is equal to -0.068. The regression equation is Y = -0.094X1-0.157X2-0.176X3-0.083X4- 0.068X5 and being significant in a level of 0.001 percent that indicates these five factors have influenced greatly high the land change in the TNLL. This situation can be inferred that the free distribution and population growth in the National Park influence increasing the conversion of forest areas. © 2019 SPIE.

Searching for and analysis of bacterial blight resistance genes from Thailand rice germplasm

In Thailand, rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the main food and agricultural product for export. However, the production of rice has faced many problems and bacterial blight disease is one of the problems in rice growing. Bacterial blight resistance Xa4, Xa7, xa5 and xa13 genes were discovered in 155 Thai rice cultivars using polymerase chain reaction-based gene-linked and gene-specific markers and the specific allele was compared with susceptible rice cultivars and with rice carrying each resistance gene. The results showed the same alleles as in the Xa4 resistance gene (89.68%), followed by the Xa7 resistance gene (11.61%), while the same alleles as xa5 and xa13 resistance genes were not found in the Thai rice germplasm studied. A new allele of Xa7 was found and part of the DNA sequence was analyzed and compared to alleles obtained from resistant and susceptible rice lines. Sixteen cultivars carried the same alleles as the Xa4 and Xa7 resistant alleles. Phenotyping of 12 rice cultivars was performed using the leaf-clipping method and inoculation with three isolates of Xoo (TB0002, Xoo5 and Xoo6). Three rice cultivars (Kan Phu Daeng, Phuyai Li and RD23) had resistance to all three Xoo isolates. These cultivars will be useful as genetic sources in rice breeding programs in the future. © 2017 Kasetsart University

in this study metal injection moulding (MIM) process was used as a fabrication method for Ti6A14V-TiC composite samples. The better efficiency, lower cost, design flexibility and high surface finish quality are the main advantages of this method. Ti6A14V and Ti6A14V-10 Wt% TiC (TMCp) tensile samples produced by MIM were tested at different temperatures of 25C, 250C and 400C. The tensile test results showed higher strength for die composite material compared to Ti6A14V sample at all temperatures. The improvement in mechanical properties became more evident at high temperatures. Tribological properties of the Ti6A14V and TMC samples were investigated by wear tests using a ball-on-flat contact geometry under different loads of 5N, 10N and 15N and single pass scratch tests under progressive load of 0.1 to 10 N. The TMCp samples exhibited the lowest wear rate under 5N normal load, which was 6.5 times lower than the wear rate of Ti6A14V sample tested at the same loading conditions. TiC particles were the main contact area. However, at ION and 15N load most of the TiC particles were fractured and consequently the wear rates of TMCp were considerably higher when compared to those of Ti6A14V samples. Nevertheless, particle pull out was not observed on any tribological conditions. Therefore, MIM can be employed as an ex-situ method to produce a good particle-matrix interface.

Due to the change of land use, Ciliwung watershed suffered from physical degradation. Considering the increasing land use change along the Ciliwung watershed, it was necessary to perform a research on land use change and its impact on the river water quality (BOD, COD, DO). The land-use forms were divided into six categories: waterbody, bareland, forest, built-up area, agriculture and paddy field. The level of correlation was measured by Pearson correlation. The change of land use of waterbody, bareland, forest, built-up area and dry land agriculture influenced the river water quality. Waterbody had positive effect on water quality, while bareland and built-up area had a negative effect on water quality. © 2018 Technoscience Publications. All rights reserved.

Understanding complex systems such as ecosystems is difficult for young K–12 students, and students’ representations of ecosystems are often limited to nebulously defined relationships between macro-level structural components inherent to the ecosystem in focus (rainforest, desert, pond, etc.) instead of generalizing processes across ecosystems (photosynthesis, decomposition, etc.). This context-dependency might be related to the focus of ecosystem instruction. Most commonly, the components are the first to be introduced and are given the greatest attention in the teaching of ecological and other biological systems. Here, we test the hypothesis that process-centered understanding of ecosystems, as opposed to structured-centered understanding, can facilitate students’ ability to transfer ecosystem concepts to new and novel ecosystems. We found that teachers who taught ecosystem processes more generally were associated with greater variation in student models, indicating a greater range of ideas being represented among the students. Bogor Regency is one of Regencies in Jabodetabek area that is experiencing rapid urban growth. This condition impacted the decreasing conditions of 39's from 95's urban small lakes or locally known as 'situ'. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of situ Kebantenan and situ Cikaret as Ciliwung flood mitigation measure in the Bogor Regency. The SWAT model was employed for quantification the water balance of situ and watershed management. The simulation results of the water balance analysis indicated that the monthly average of volume of Situ Kabantenan and Situ Cikaret (2008-2015) were 136,955 m3 and 508,907 m3, the annual inflow Situ Cikaret were 24,693,822 m3/year and outflow were 25,177,593 m3/year, precipitation were 648,520 m3/year, evaporation were 166,543 m3/year, delta storage (1,794) m3/year, respectively. The result of hydrological responses analysis on application of situ and watershed management scenarios that combined the structural and non-structural measures was the best scenario for decreasing maximum discharge at situ outlet which is decreased 41% discharge. So that, in order to enhance the effectiveness of situs for Ciliwung flood mitigation, the combination of the structural and non structural management of 13 situ's in Ciliwung river basin within the Bogor Regency is recommended that can increase the storage capacity from 1.8 million m3 to 4.7 million m3. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

An e-Commerce company has been using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for several years, but is still constrained in its implementation, this is reflected in the number of issue/change request tickets submitted by users who have not been able to reach ideal conditions. To overcome this problem, we need an appropriate reference model, the ERP system user acceptance model in companies. The study conducted factors that influence the level of acceptance of SAP ERP users in the XYZ group to then determine a model that is able to explain practically the level of ERP system user acceptance, which in turn can produce concrete proposals to increase ERP system user acceptance. Research is quantitative descriptive using factor analysis and regression analysis methods. The research method uses a questionnaire with a total of 107 valid respondents coming from 8 company names under the XYZ group in 6 Southeast Asian countries. The conclusion of the study is that there are 24 indicators and 4 factors that influence user acceptance of the SAP ERP system. These four factors are the low contribution of the ERP system, the quality of ERP systems and data, the development of ERP systems, and also the low quality of ERP system supporters. It is hoped that by optimizing the value of the 4 factors, the XYZ group can increase user acceptance of the SAP ERP system so that the system can provide benefits expected by the company to be competitive advantage. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Documenting Twenty Years of the Contracted Labor-Intensive Forestry Workforce on National Forest System Lands in the United States (Jun, fvad026, 2023)

This paper presents the first nationwide analysis detailing the scope and scale of labor-intensive forestry contracts performed on National Forest System lands and examines the businesses contracted, location and types of work performed, and distance traveled by businesses between 2001 and 2020. During the study period, 61,698 contracts were awarded to 7,896 businesses, totaling $12.9 billion, to perform labor-intensive forestry work, with most work being contracted for wildfire-related activities. Businesses were typically located in western states and non-minority owned businesses received the majority of contracts. Of minority-owned businesses, Hispanic American–owned businesses received the most contracts. The median distance that businesses traveled to accomplish work increased significantly through time but differed by business type. Understanding the scope and work of businesses awarded contracts provides insight into the workforce and its relationship to marginalized populations. Strategic investment in this workforce may have widespread impacts on federal, state, and local economies and the livelihoods of forest *** Implications: Between 2001–2020, the USDA Forest Service spent billions of dollars on contracts with thousands of businesses to conduct labor-intensive forestry projects; however, project locations and awarded businesses were not evenly distributed through space and time. Emerging and minority businesses represented a small proportion of contracts awarded. Advancing understanding of the businesses conducting labor-intensive forestry work lays the foundation for inquiry into the working conditions forest workers experience as well as disparities in contract capture. Some regions may have benefitted more from contract capture than others. Understanding factors enabling places and businesses to capture these contract dollars may help identify others that may benefit from investment.
