Zeolite micropattern created from structurally similar hydrophobic Sil-1 and hydrophilic ZSM-5 zeolites, and tested for the immobilization of fluorescein isothiocyanate conjugate bovine serum albumin (BSA-FITC), biotin conjugate bovine serum albumin (Biotin-BSA), Hochest 33342 and rhodamine conjugate α- bungatoxin, were preferentially deposited onto hydrophobic ZSM-5 patterns regardless of the pattern geometry. Being inorganic, the zeolite micropattern does not deteriorate with time and can be readily reused by simply burning away the deposited chemicals and biomolecules. This suggests that compositional micropattern of zeolite could be used to create high resolution array of biomolecules on flat substrate.

The height supplied by the GPS system is merely mathematics. In most studies the height shall be referred to the Geoid. With a sufficient number of Level References with known horizontal and vertical coordinates it is almost always adjusted by polynomials of Least Squares Method that allow the interpolation of geoidal undulations. These polynomials are inefficient when extrapolating the data outside the study area. Thus the aim of this work is to present a new method for modeling the surface of Local Geoid based on the technique of Artificial Neural Networks. The study area is the Hydrological Basin of Rio dos Sinos which is located in Rio Grande do Sul State -Brazil and for the training of the neural network undulations data supplied by the MAPGEO2004 program was used. The program was developed by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) with an absolute error band bigger than 0.5 meter. Even with such a big error, the data supplied by MAPGEO2004 can be used in the training of a neural network, because it is tolerant to errors and noises. The efficiency of the model was tested in 8 points with known undulations and distributed throughout the study area. On these points the model has presented, through calculated discrepancies, a root mean square error of 0.170 meter, approximately. The study shows that this method can be an alternative in modeling local and/or regional Geoid.

The Langat River Basin in Malaysia is vulnerable to soil erosion risks because of its exposure to intensive land use activities and its topography, which primarily consists of steep slopes and mountainous ***,climate change frequently exposes this basin to drought, which negatively affects soil and water ***,recent studies have rarely shown how soil reacts to drought, such as soil ***,the purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between drought and soil erosion in the Langat River *** analyzed drought indices using Landsat 8 satellite images in November 2021,and created the normalized differential water index(NDWI)via Landsat 8 data to produce a drought *** used the revised universal soil loss equation(RUSLE)model to predict soil *** verified an association between the NDWI and soil erosion data using a correlation *** results revealed that the southern and northern regions of the study area experienced drought *** predicted an average annual soil erosion of approximately 58.11 t/(hm^(2)·a).Analysis of the association between the NDWI and soil erosion revealed a strong positive correlation, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of *** assumed that the slope length and steepness factor was the primary contributor to soil erosion in the study *** a result, these findings can help authorities plan effective measures to reduce the impacts of drought and soil erosion in the future.

The use of fine recycled aggregates as raw material in the production of mortars appears as a good alternative to minimize waste disposal, so as to reduce natural resources consumption and to find and supply suitable substitutes for natural aggregates. However, the use of this alternative material in a safe way must be carried out by a wide investigation of its long term behavior. In this way, this paper will examine the mechanical strength, physical properties and drying shrinkage of mortar, which use recycled fine aggregates that have originated from construction and demolition waste (CDW) containing mortar (55%), ceramic (26%) and concrete (16%). Two natural mortars, made with natural sand, were produced with cement/sand ratios of 1:4 and 1:8 (by weight) and a fixed consistency index of 260 +10 mm. Recycled mortar was produced with 50% of substitution rate, in volume, of natural aggregate by recycled one. Results show that recycled mortars present higher total porosity, absorption rate and drying shrinkage than reference mortar.
