In this study, we develop warranty cost models for a warranted product that is also protected by lemon laws. The product is viewed as a multi-component system consisting of critical (C) and non-critical (NC) components. We model failure process of each type of components, which considers a bidirectional (or mutual) failure interaction between the C and NC components. Hence, each component has two types of failures -i.e., natural failure and induced failure. The product is declared a lemon if the recurrent failures of C or NC component occur - i.e., when the number of the C or NC component failures reaches the threshold value, k. If a lemon is declared, the manufacturer will provide either a refund or a replacement to the consumer. Then, we develop the warranty cost models for the two cases (i.e., refund and replacement cases) and find the optimal lemon law period that minimizes the expected warranty cost rate. The numerical examples are provided to illustrate the expected warranty cost and the optimal lemon law period. © 2022 IEEE.

This study aimed to examine the factors influencing the acceptance of eLearning platforms in medical education during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, using the latent variables from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and two additional variables derived from relevant literature. A total of 360 medical students participated by completing an online survey comprising 40 questions. The analysis, conducted using stepwise multiple linear regression, revealed that Performance Expectancy (PE), Habit (HB), and Instructor Characteristics (IC) were significant predictors of Actual Use (AU) with an accuracy of 54.22%. Higher levels of PE, HB, and IC were found to positively influence the acceptance and utilization of medical eLearning platforms. The findings from this study can provide valuable insights for the Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines, aiding in the enhancement of eLearning platforms for medical education. Although this research primarily focused on UTAUT2 and two additional variables-Learning Value and Instructor Characteristics-the results offer substantial implications for the broader development of eLearning platforms in the medical field. © 2024 IEEE.

Food innovations have become crucial for manufacturing's business performance;however, new food product still has low consumers adoption rate even with extensive of research and new knowledge. While the outcomes of innovation may appear random, but the development of invention is not. Key elements such as managerial strategy, internal collaboration, and resources are complicated to fully understand and manage. An organization should take a systematic and practical approach to comprehend the associated factors for innovation management. Innovation management has grown in popularity in study and practice. Despite the rising number of studies on management innovation, there is still a gap in research that combines this body of knowledge, specifically for product innovation for food manufacturing. Therefore, this study undertakes a systematic review of product innovation management for food manufacturing during 1980-2020 to better understand the management of food product innovation. The review concluded the six key success factors of product innovation management for food manufacturing, which are top management, organizational structure and culture, resources (human, finance, technology), process management, collaboration, and environment and market orientation. © 2022 ACM.

The food supply chain at present is important to the human and there have a lot of transportation modes to distribute food from manufacturer to customer also business to business. The customers there need fresh food and the providers always find the best way in logistics that send their food to customers with the best quality and fresh, that is why the cold chain of logistics is popular and needs to improve more for the customers. However, there is no clear way to improve the performance and assessment of food logistics service, the aim of this study focused on service quality of food logistics and identify a set of service quality dimensions that developed from the SERVQUAL model for measuring their logistics process after that researcher prioritized the dimensions and sub-dimensions by Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and finalize the local weight and global weight from AHP result. Finally, this research has shown the providers and the customers were prioritized for punctuality in food logistics service. It should be concern and improvement about punctuality in a food logistics service at the same time, the worst dimension of the provider's perspective is tangible and the customer perspective is empathy, that they did not pay attention it should be improved later. © 2023 IEEE.

Construction teams are responsible for building complex projects within the allotted budget, time and expected quality. Thus, team members must be able to work with each other to avoid any complications during the construction process. As such, team supervisors must select from a pool of applicants or from their current roster of workers, which would be composed of different personalities and capabilities. This paper aims to identify the preferences of team supervisors when building up their team using conjoin analysis. The study found out that supervisors would like to have workers that respects and values their work and can work harmoniously with others. This study is beneficial for the human resource department of construction companies when recruiting workers, for the management when trying to develop their current personnel and for the workers who are trying to improve themselves. © 2024 ACM.

This research evaluates the effectiveness of Mean-Variance (MV) and Safety-First (SF) portfolio selection strategies for high-volume/high-value traded stocks on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). Analyzing data from 288 stocks over 7,670 trading days (30 years), we estimated stock returns, assigned probability weights, and conducted optimization models. The results show that the Mean-Variance (MV0.5) strategy achieved the best balance between risk and return, boasting the highest mean and cumulative returns with moderate volatility. The Safety-First (SF) strategy, however, yielded negative cumulative returns, indicating potential issues. The Market strategy had the lowest mean return but also the least risk, appealing to risk-averse investors. The Portfolio Mean-Variance (PMV) strategy provided a reasonable balance of returns and risk. Statistical analysis revealed that only the MV0.5 strategy outperformed market returns. These findings offer crucial insights into risk assessment and portfolio management for investors evaluating these strategies against market performance. © 2024 IEEE.

One of the primary difficulties of Indonesia's banking sector is to ensure that it continues to develop in business, is robust, and can foresee new risks while enhancing governance, risk, and compliance. This study will determine the effect of risk management implementation, absorptive capacity, and digital adoption on organizational resilience. The survey method is being used as a research method, with targeted respondents from senior executives, including C-suites, senior vice presidents, and vice presidents. The results show that digital adoption and absorptive capacity impact risk management implementation and organizational resilience despite the limited research available in the Indonesian banking sector. The study will contribute to understanding how enterprise resilience is affected by risk management. This research has presented an opportunity for both banking management and policymakers to formulate strategies aimed at bolstering organizational resilience within the banking sector. These strategies could aid in navigating unforeseen and disruptive business environments. Furthermore, this study stands to expand the application of concepts such as organizational resilience and dynamic capacity theory, particularly within the banking industry of developing nations.

Portfolio selection is an important part of investment management that aims to select the right combination of assets to achieve an optimal risk-return ratio. This study integrates the Mean-Variance Theory utilizing the 30-year historical returns of the Philippine Stock Exchange. Three subsectors of the industrial Sector were used as the investment pool. The back-test results showed that the Mean-Variance portfolios of selected subsectors can outperform the industrial sector and not the market. Stakeholders must be cautious when investing in these three subsectors, considering the values obtained from the simulations. There are recommended portfolio selections wherein companies have a specific allocation that investors and financial managers can use whenever they decide to invest in these subsectors. Overall, this study offers a framework for investors to use as a guide in diversifying their stakes in the Philippine Stock Exchange. © 2024 IEEE.

The stock market is one of the investment options that offer the best potential returns. However, investors are aware of the risk associated with their investments, which is why stock portfolios are established to diversify investments or distribute investments. Managing a portfolio may be challenging because there are so many different stocks. One of the challenges is deciding how much money to invest and how to allocate it for the best results. This paper used the K-means Algorithm for cluster analysis in identifying Decision Making Unit (DMU), the stocks will be grouped according to their characteristics considering their risk and return. Asset allocation per clustered portfolio was performed and the Mean-Variance Model was used to optimize clustered portfolios. This paper aims to use Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to evaluate the efficiency of these clustered portfolios/DMUs. In addition, this paper introduces subjective choice in decision-making using the criterion's level of importance to help investors decide which among these efficient DMUs is a better option. The results show 4 Efficient DMUs for 2019 Data, and 3 Efficient DMUs in 2020 Data. All simulations were carried out using the MATLAB environment platform. © 2023 IEEE.
