In essence companies develop their business models for attending expectations of a selected group of customers that define their served markets. For public services or companies there are some particularities for defining their stakeholders that could create singularities in terms of setting clients' expectations. In some cases, these companies have a license to serve a region that could be create some sort of monopoly, and this is the case of Brazilian electricity distributors. The aim of this paper is to study customer satisfaction in household electrical power distribution services;mapping for this purpose the research that is being conducted over the last decades. Mapping the literature contributes for framing the evolution of technical and scientific publications in terms authorships, specialized journals outlets, research topics and other factors that contribute to the full understanding of this research theme. This paper presents a systematic literature review by developing a research protocol and process based on the Cochrane method. Portfolio analysis provides social networks and bibliometrics information that result in a research agenda for the studies in customer satisfaction for residential power services. Blockchain is a distributed append-only digital ledger. The technology has caught much attention since the emergence of cryptocurrency, and there is an increasing number of blockchain applications in various businesses. The concept, however, is still novel to many members of the simulation and operations research community. In this tutorial, we introduce the blockchain technology and review its frontier related research. There are exciting opportunities for researchers in simulation, system analysis, and data science.

At a time when the competitive market is operating rapidly, manufacturing industries need to stay connected, have interchangeability and interoperability in their factories, ensuring that there is heterogeneous communication between sectors, people, machines and the client, challenging the manufacturing industry to discover new ways to bring new products or improve their manufacturing process. Precisely because of the need to adjust to these new market demands, factories pursue complex and quick decision-making systems. This work aims to propose applications of Machine Learning techniques to develop a decision-making platform applied to a manufacturing line reducing scrap. This goal will be achieved through a literature review in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning to identify core concepts for the development of a failure prediction system. This research has demonstrated the problems and challenges faced by manufacturing daily, and how, through the application of AI techniques, it is possible to contribute to assist in these problems by improving quality, performance, scrap rates and rework, through connectivity and integration of data and processes. This paper contributes to evaluate the performance of machine learning ensembles applied in a real smart manufacturing scenario of failure prediction. © 2020, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing.

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system can be considered as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) system implemented to engineering structure to provide real-time information on the integrity of the structure. In doing so, the system acquires data from various sensors distributed across the structure and infers damage sensitive quantities. In the research, we proposed a damage index derived from the governing dynamics of the structure in the frequency domain. The proposal was empirically verified by applying the index to analyze the case of a cracked cantilever beam subjected to a harmonic load. The value of the damage index was computed at some points surrounding the crack to understand the effect of the distance of the monitoring point to the crack to the index sensitivity. The results suggest that the index is sensitive to the crack particularly when the observation point is near the crack. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Student feedback is an important part of service quality of a private university. The purpose of the study was to evaluate undergraduate students' feedback towards service quality of private university. A total of 1555 questionnaires and a total of 201 negative comments were collected from one private university in the Philippines during one academic year. For students' comments, classification schemes were utilized to organize the meaningful categories. It showed that negative personality traits of the employees and poor student accommodation were two most frequent negative comments. Classification schemes were found as a powerful tool to evaluate the students' feedback towards service quality. Finally, that this approach can be applied and extended to analyze students' feedback in different private universities worldwide. © 2022 ACM.

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to present a novel approach for gait assessment called gait proficiency index (GPI) using only ground reaction forces (GRF)-derived parameters. Material and methods: Barefoot gait from 51 healthy children was evaluated with the GPI in this study. The participants walked at their self-selected speed along a 6-m walkway with 8 force platforms placed in pairs. The force-time analysis resulted in a dynamic symmetry assessment (DSA) that is the result of vertical GRF component distribution for all gait cycles both the left and right foot. DSA and impulse calculation from GRF led to the calculation of the GPI, which is the relationship between the impulse of load response and mid-stance and impulse of terminal stance and pre-swing of both right and left feet multiplied by the DSA index. The children were divided into three groups with 17 participants each and classified according to age (mean age ± standard deviation): G1 (4.39 ± 0.511), G2 (6.33 ± 0.639), G3 (8.49 ± 0.636). Results: The results show that as children mature, the GPI seems to increase from G1 to G2 and decreases from G2 to G3 and that both the standard deviations and coefficient of variation decrease with the increase of age. Conclusions: This can be an indicative that the index can assess improvements in gait quality through age. However, there was no statistical significance between the groups in this variable. Also, the correlation between either DSA and age or GPI and age found is weak to make other conclusions but that the study of adults should be included to either validate or refute the use of GPI. © 2021, Sociedade Brasileira de Engenharia Biomedica.

Decisions are constantly made and some of them may be extremely critical. However, most decision makers are unaware that their decisions may be biased. We used Behavioral Economics as a foundation to propose an ontology that shows how decision makers’ preferences are set and the situation in which they occur in an intuitive decision under risk and uncertainty. Our aim is that this ontology be used to improve their decisions by allowing them a better understanding of how they decide. Portfolio selection is an important part of investment management that aims to select the right combination of assets to achieve an optimal risk-return ratio. This study integrates the Mean-Variance Theory utilizing the 30-year historical returns of the Philippine Stock Exchange. Three subsectors of the industrial Sector were used as the investment pool. The back-test results showed that the MeanVariance portfolios of selected subsectors can outperform the industrial sector and not the market. Stakeholders must be cautious when investing in these three subsectors, considering the values obtained from the simulations. There are recommended portfolio selections wherein companies have a specific allocation that investors and financial managers can use whenever they decide to invest in these subsectors. Overall, this study offers a framework for investors to use as a guide in diversifying their stakes in the Philippine Stock Exchange.

Industry 4.0 is characterized by a dynamic market that constantly looking for new methods to optimize and integrate manufacturing processes. In this context, Artificial Intelligence has gained prominence in problem-solving, such as failure prediction and decision making, thus improving product quality, and consequently bringing competitiveness to the company. Aiming to contribute to this scenario, this research develops a data treatment system that, from an intelligent tool and an interoperable ontological model, automates the prediction and detection of failures in machining machines lines. The system was developed for the prediction of faults in machining lines includes an artificial intelligence formed from prediction algorithms and inferences, it is possible to guarantee the correct treatment and communication of data at different stages of the process. For the experimental research, was used data collected from a machining line of a public dataset. The information is collected and classified by Artificial Intelligence that supports a decision system. The prediction of tool wear would enable the system to infer the type of problem that is causing this wear, a possible root cause, and the needed maintenance based on the ontological inference tool. By this classification of data, it is possible to achieve, through inferences, a reduction in the decision scope, bringing the possible problems caused by the incoming value. The semantic interoperability ensures correct data exchange and processing, which generates a more assertive view of production failures. The system may help companies to increase their productive process by helping them identify future failures in production if applied in a real scenario.

Flight control systems are an essential part of aircraft, consisting of all elements between the pilot and the movable parts, such as actuators, controllers, and sensors, to control the aircraft's attitude, trajectory and speed. In this context, oscillatory failure cases are problems that can occur in any part of the flight control system, causing undesired oscillatory behavior that affects the aircraft's structural load. On the one hand, correctly detecting such failures enables weight saving to improve aircraft performance in different aspects; on the other hand, such detection enables reconfiguring the control law to keep the aircraft in its path. This work describes a data-driven oscillatory fault detection model and the control law reconfiguration for a fight control system for the Aerospace industrial Benchmark. Preliminary results indicate that the developed system can accurately detect faults in several scenarios and properly reconfigure the control loop.
