This paper presents experimental data and analyses from the oscillation frequency of CMOS ring oscillators (ROs). The measurements are analyzed in order to separate the coefficient of variation (CV = σ/μ) behavior of both within-die (WID) process variations and Die-to-Die (D2D) process variations. Three different RO's sizes distributed over a total of 96 ROs per chip were measured in 32 different chip samples, all from a single MOSIS Multi-Project-wafer in a commercial 65nm CMOS process. All ROs were measured with varying power supply voltages, from nominal VDD (1.2V) down to nearthreshold (0.45V), resulting in a sample space of 18.432 points of interest. Statistical analysis results are shown regarding each RO stage size, the applied power supply and the correlation of both to the WID and D2D variations. The increase on D2D and WID coefficients of variations at the near-threshold supplies is very significant, as explained by increased delay variability at the moderate inversion regime of the FETs. The 96 test ROs occupy a total area of 200 x 480 μm2 in each test chip. © 2015 IEEE.

Multi-Processors Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs) are demanding for high performance, low power and high density, and therefore, three-dimensional integrated circuits (3DIC) emerge as a solution to integrate these systems. In order to appropriately interconnect the layers of these systems in terms of flexibility and scalability, a Network-on-Chip (NoC) is typically employed. In this paper, we argue about the scenario of 3D designs, covering all important issues about this new concept. In agreement with all features discussed in this paper, we have proposed a hierarchical 3D topology that meets well the reality of these designs. Experimental results analyze different topologies and show the large benefits in area and power of our proposal.

In this study, we explored the students' computer-supported collaborative learning behavior based on the Facebook platform. Sixty two senior college students major in Information Management took Decision Support System (DSS) class. Besides the lectures and class discussion, the students participated in the DSS Facebook for collaborative learning. We found that students' characteristics (e.g., gender and mindset of learning) are important factors to affect their Facebook usage behavior and learning performance. The students using DSS Facebook more often get better performance in their final projects, learning satisfaction and the online communication behavior survey. We also found that gender affects the usage of social networks platform. For instance, male students use social networks platform several times per week and get better performance in online communication, learning satisfaction and creativity self-efficacy.

Aligning IT strategies to business goals is a top priority for CIOs. However, measuring results that IT brings to business is a challenging task. We carried out a study to help an IT director of a large mining company to define OKRs (Objective Key Results) and quantitatively monitor the achievement of goals. We performed a participative case study to define OKRs for goals and initiatives to achieve them, by using GQM+Strategies to support us in that matter. As a result, after three meetings with the IT director and IT managers, we defined OKRs for five IT goals and initiatives to achieve them. From this experience, we noticed that GQM+Strategies and OKR can be used together, working in a complimentary way: OKR gives simplicity and agility to the process, while GQM+Strategies provides useful knowledge to define OKRs and initiatives to achieve them properly. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

One of the major concerns in environmental studies is understanding the factors and processes that control and affect water quality. This study aimed to examine the causal relationship between land use/land cover and water quality in Tonle Sap Lake, one of the largest fresh water lakes in Southeast Asia and also to monitor the spatial distribution of water quality in the scale of the lake basin. The approach combines spatial data analysis using Geographic Information System (GIS) and statistics to establish the strength of relationship between land use/land cover derived from classifying Landsat data and water-quality within Tonle Sap subcatchments. These analyses produced indicators (Kendall's tau) showing the strength of correlation between percentages of land use/land cover type as predictor variable and median of water quality parameters as response variable. The retrieval of optically active constituents from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrophotometer (MODIS) was done using bio-optical algorithm applied in turbid inland waters based on the parameterization of the inherent optical properties - absorption and backscattering to come up with the modeled reflectance spectra, which was later, used in an inversion model to obtain the estimated concentration map of Total Suspended Sediments (TSS) and Chlorophyll-a from remote sensing reflectance of the multispectral images. Rank correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis results reveal the statistical relationships between agriculture lands, grasslands, forest covers and population density with TN, PO4P, NO3 and TSS. The results from remote sensing analysis exhibit quite appreciable variation in spatial distribution of water quality which helps identify the spatial aspects of the lake ecosystem more clearly and cost-effectively than point measurements.

Complex networks are often used to model real systems. Examples of such networks include computer networks, cities in a state or countries interconnected by highways, the connection between neurons in the brain, atoms in a molecule, and relations between people in a social network. A graph can represent any complex network, and we can use a matrix to represent a graph. Graph spectrum is the eigenvalues of the matrix associated with the graph, and the spectral moments are the moments of the distribution of these eigenvalues. The spectral moments give us intuitions about the shape of the distribution of the eigenvalues, and it can be used to study complex networks. In this work, we show an algorithm (implemented in C) that can efficiently estimate the spectrum moments of an undirected weighted graph. The implementation of this algorithm is freely available to download at GitHub (https://***/GuDiasOliveira/graph-spectral-moments).

The evolution of communication channels and social networks proliferation through the web are inspiring and enabling the construction of collaborative environments. This article proposes an architecture of processes that aims to identify information responsibilities within a general emergency scenario, considering a new way of data provenance: citizens and government agencies. Citizens, who experience as victims a chaotic scenario, can also act as collaborators, providing relevant and useful information for the decision-making process. Today, they already do this informally, sharing public interest information through social networks, such as the Tweeter. The architecture also provides procedures for treating reliability and credibility of the information, provided by the so-called “anonymous officials”, subjecting it to a filtering and verification process. The heterogeneity of information formats is a well-known problem that affects organizations and communities that wants to access public data. The architecture includes a Linked Open Data (LOD) approach for acquisition and integration of data maintained by government agencies that adopt different publishing standards. A solution to this problem is of particular importance to emergency response organizations that need access to all information available to better respond to disasters and crisis.

Artificial Immune Systems (AISs) are composed of techniques inspired by immunology. The clonal selection principle ensures the organism adaptation to fight invading antigens by an immune response activated by the binding of antigens and antibodies. As an immune response can be elicited even when the binding between an antigen and an antibody is not perfect, an approximate binding might suffice, and a Fuzzy Logic mechanism might be the most appropriate mechanism to control such process. This paper presents a novel hybrid model based on concepts of Immune and Fuzzy Systems with applications to pattern recognition problems. The preliminary results obtained here suggest the proposed model is a promising pattern recognition tool. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper deals with the problem of selecting (aka pruning) components for multilabel classifier ensembles. Three methods, one based on a genetic algorithm (GA) and the others based on ranking, are applied for this purpose. In particular, we investigate the adoption of different multilabel classification measures to play the role of the objective function of these methods, paying special attention to how the choice of one measure affects the accuracy of the pruned ensembles as gauged by other measures. A preliminary empirical analysis is conducted on five problems and the results achieved indicate that the classification performance of pruned ensembles as estimated by a given multilabel measure may significantly vary according to the measure adopted for selecting the components. Moreover, although the pruning methods used can yield significant gains in terms of ensemble size reduction, the ensemble models they generate usually lag behind when contrasted to those equipped with the whole sets of components.

Multimedia computers have grown rapidly. Various kinds of multimedia programs have been produced by combining text, video and sound features. This capability has been developed to form interactive programs such as tutorials. SWiSH Max is software to create animations that has become a standard in the web industry with a large and growing number of users. This software was first introduced in 1999 as software to made vector-based animations with navigation capabilities, graphic illustrations and file sizes that are small enough to be able to pass an Internet connection using a normal modem. The results of this study are designed learning software about SWISH Max. With this software, users can learn how to use SWiSH Max independently because the material displayed in video so the material can be repeated and re-learned. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
