In this paper, we focus on singing techniques within the scope of music information retrieval research. We investigate how singers use singing techniques using real-world recordings of famous solo singers in Japanese popular music songs (J-POP). First, we built a new dataset of singing techniques. The dataset consists of 168 commercial J-POP songs, and each song is annotated using various singing techniques with timestamps and vocal pitch contours. We also present descriptive statistics of singing techniques on the dataset to clarify what and how often singing techniques appear. We further explored the difficulty of the automatic detection of singing techniques using previously proposed machine learning techniques. In the detection, we also investigate the effectiveness of auxiliary information (i.e., pitch and distribution of label duration), not only providing the baseline. The best result achieves 40.4% at macro-average F-measure on nine-way multi-class detection. We provide the annotation of the dataset and its detail on the appendix website0,. © L. Liu, Q. Kong, V. Medical Gas is an important component in the treatment of patients with COVID-19 disease. Medical gas is used to help COVID-19 patients to reduce the effects of respiratory disorders by providing oxygen ventilators to patients. With the surge in typical COVID-19 sufferers as of July 2021, the need for Oxygen in hospitals is getting higher. This is when the control and monitoring of medical gases in hospitals are late because the integrated system is very dangerous. Therefore, a system that can be used to control and monitor medical gases in hospitals that are integrated and automated and can be monitored by the Government and Medical Gas Producers. This is useful for anticipating the lack of availability of Medical Gas in hospitals. In this study, the system used IoT systems as a base in delivery and control. This system uses Arduino as a minimum system that reads the press sensor on the Medical Gas tube and regulates the valve. The data obtained is then sent to the Local Server to be processed and delivered to the Hospital Officer. Local Servers also send the data to cloud servers to be monitored by the government funds of several medical gas producers. This design can help in the process of controlling and monitoring Medical Gases in hospitals in hopes of minimizing the risk of delays in supplying medical gases to hospitals. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. Objectives: To investigate the factors in early life that may contribute to central precocious puberty (CPP). Methods: The study utilized data from the Taiwan Puberty Longitudinal Study, including 2241 children under pubertal assessment and a questionnaire of risk factors. We analyzed associations using the Fitting Generalized Linear Models in R (R Core Team, 2023), with R studio (Posit, 2023) version 4.3.1. Results: Among the 2241 children examined, 745 had CPP. Overall, higher gestational weight gain (GWG) increased the risk of CPP (odds ratio [OR]: 1.03, 95% CI: 1.01-1.05);while higher GWG served as a protective factor in females (OR: 0.97, 95% CI: 0.95-0.99). Maternal gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) also increased the CPP risk, particularly in males (OR: 2.66, 95% CI: 1.00-7.25). Longer exclusive breastfeeding was linked to lower CPP risk overall (OR: 0.96, 95% CI: 0.93-1.00) but was not significant when analyzed by gender. Conclusions: Higher maternal GWG was associated with an increased risk of CPP overall, while GWG became negatively associated with CPP, only in females. Maternal GDM was linked to a higher risk of CPP, particularly in males. The duration of exclusive breastfeeding was inversely correlated with CPP risk, but this effect was not significant when analyzed by gender. © 2025 AACE

One way to encourage students to think about their own mental models in Mathematics, especially in Dynamic Geometry (DG), is to allow them to investigate and manipulate variables, by changing their values and trying to observe how they behave. The sharing of individual perspectives also helps students to converge to a common understanding about the subjects discussed. In this paper, we propose a collaboration model for learning geometry, where the combination of the approaches, (learning through experimentation and collaborative learning) provides a rich environment that allows interactions between a student and an object, interactions among students, or interactions among groups of students. This paper describes Tabulæ, an educational tool designed to tackle the problem of teaching Math using DG and synchronous communication within computer networks. © 2005 IEEE.

Sports analytics have become an important part in the improvement of athlete performances in the last decade. Badminton is one such sport where sports analytics can prove beneficial for its athletes. By incorporating data analysis and machine learning techniques, we can learn more about an athlete's performance and profile them via their results in official badminton matches, and coaches as well as athletes may use the results to identify possible improvements for the athlete. This work presents a model to profile the performances of two Indonesian badminton athletes through machine learning using official score data of matches played from 2018 to 2021. We have built a model that performs athlete profiling through regression, classification, and clustering methods. Our result shows that Random Forest outperformed SVM method on regression and the two methods performed similarly on classification, while K-means and hierarchical clustering models displayed similar results in data clustering. © 2022 IEEE.

Process Improvement requires a formal process definition and associated measures of performance. Processes can then be diagnosed in order to formulate hypotheses on where changes should be made. Subsequently, new processes can be conceived, and developers can check whether the desired improvements have actually been achieved. Simulation is a powerful low-cost tool for diagnosis and test of several improvement alternatives, prior to field tests. This paper presents a UML-based method to obtain the probability distribution of the execution time of a large variety of business processes, including software development. Such a method, which is based on Monte Carlo simulation, allows for the identification of factors that most strongly influence process execution time, favoring changes that increase process efficiency with considerable impact on the deployment of business tactics and strategies. ©2008 IEEE.

The Decision Making is present in every activity of the human world, as in simple day-by-day problems, as in complex situations inside of an organization. In the human world, emotions and reasons become hard to separate;therefore, Decision Support Systems (DSS) were created to help decision makers to take complex decisions. The paper presents the development of a new tool, called OrclassWeb, which reproduces the procedure to apply the Verbal Decision Analysis (VDA) Methodology ORCLASS that supports the process of the mentioned DSS method. © 2014 Springer International Publishing Switzerland.

The usability of a prosthetic hand difers significantly from that of a real ***,the complexity of manipulation increases as the number of degrees of freedom to be controlled increases,making manipulation with biological signals extremely *** overcome this problem,users need to select a grasping posture that is adaptive to the object and a stable grasping method that prevents the object from *** previous studies,these have been left to the operating skills of the user,which is extremely difficult to *** this study,we demonstrate how stable and adaptive grasping can be achieved according to the object regardless of the user's operation *** required grasping technique is achieved by determining the correlation bet ween the motor output and each sensor through the interaction between the prosthetic hand and the surrounding stimuli,such as myoelectricity,sense of touch,and grasping *** agents of the 16 DOF robot hand were trained with the myoelectric signals of six participants,including one child with a congenital forearm ***,each agent could open and close the hand in response to the myoeletric stimuli and could accomplish the object pickup *** the tasks,the agents successfully identified grasping patterns suitable for practical and stable positioning of the *** addition,the agents were able to pick up the object in a similar posture regardless of the partiipant,suggesting that the hand was optimized by evolutionary computation to a posture that prevents the object from being dropped.

In this work, we propose an automated solution to support researchers of histological sciences labs on the analysis of muscle fibers microscopic images. For this purpose, we developed a dataset carefully curated composed of semi-seriated muscle samples. The manual annotation of these images is laborious and tiring, and the results may become compromised as the human gets tired. Thus, we propose a framework to address this problem which starts with a preprocessing step, aiming to mitigate discrepancies regarding the color variation frequently found in this type of image, followed by the use of Mask R-CNN, to automatically perform muscle fibers segmentation and also to extract the smallest diameter of these fibers, which is an important measure for further analysis. Experiments showed that there is no statistically significant difference between the results obtained manually and those obtained using our proposal. The dataset used in the experiments is also a contribution of this work. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a practical methodology for optimizing the geometry of electrical grounding grids at industrial frequencies of 50Hz and 60Hz, integrating advanced calculation techniques and evolutionary algorithms to improve the safety and operational performance of electrical grounding systems. The proposed approach is particularly beneficial for industrial automation and control systems, where effective grounding is necessary to maintain system reliability and prevent downtime. This methodology employs mathematical modeling and computational tools to optimize grid parameters, ensuring compliance with safety standards while reducing operational costs, thus contributing to the overall efficiency of automated systems in industrial environments. The study reports a reduction of up to 66% in the number of vertical rods and 40% in horizontal conductors compared to traditional methods. These results indicate that the proposed methodology can significantly reduce material usage and costs while maintaining electrical safety in accordance with regulatory standards, making it applicable to a wide range of industrial settings, including substations and automated facilities. © 2025 The Authors
