Project management tools are mandatory to properly manage a software project. The teaching of these tools is carried out in superior computer courses, but often the instructional strategies are used in an ad-hoc manner. This study aims to analyze the literature about teaching of the usage of project management tools and to identify the instructional strategies and the utilized tools. We conducted a systematic literature review to identify the most significant studies that report experiences on this context. After analyzing more than 2700 studies a total of 5 primary studies were selected, and then others were manually included. The instructional strategies and the utilized tools are presented, highlighting the main functionalities and educational features of these tools, as well as the instructional activities carried out to meet the educational goals. Concluding with a discussion of the advances and gaps that remain in this area. Copyright © 2015 by KSI Research Inc. and Knowledge Systems Institute graduate School.

The software industry has a growing demand for project managers which has leveraged the efforts to improve the teaching of project management competencies in higher education computer courses. Part of these efforts has been concentrated on improving instructional feedback when teaching these competencies. Instructional feedback is essential in order to help the students to learn based on an evaluation of their actions and decisions. However, so far there is few information available on how to provide this instructional feedback when teaching software project management. Therefore, we performed a systematic literature review that aims at providing an overview on existing feedback strategies, specifically when teaching the use of project management tools, such as MS Project or dotProject. As result we identified 8 relevant studies. Their results are systematically presented and a discussion is carried out, identifying the most adopted feedback strategies, how they were implemented, as well as their effects on student learning. These results may be useful for software engineering instructors to decide on the adoption some of the strategies as well as for instructional designers that may employ some of these feedback strategies when developing new instructional units. In this paper, we describe the development of a systematic review about the topic "Discovering Frequent Itemsets on Uncertain Data". To the best of our knowledge, this work seems to be the first systematic review addressing the topic. We show the whole process executed and its findings. Initially we define a rigorous protocol to lead the process. In the first phase, we create a systematic mapping of the area. In addition, from the complete reading of each article, a panorama of this area is presented. We reveal the search engines that most publicize this topic and which publishing types, authors and research institutions are involved in these papers. Moreover we identify the algorithms and the classes of these algorithms most compared over the years, how are made these comparisons, as well as their availabilities. Therefore this systematic review becomes a rich material for understanding this knowledge area. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Organizations are increasingly investing in Distributed Software Development (DSD) over the years. A typical decision-making problem in the distributed scenario consists of deciding which team should be allocated each task. That decision takes into account a relative degree of subjectivity. That setting is suitable for applying Verbal Decision Analysis (VDA). This paper introduces an approach to support the allocation of tasks to distributed units in DSD projects, structured on the hybridisation of methods of Verbal Decision Analysis for classification and rank ordering applied to influencing factors and executing units. Firstly, a review of the literature was conducted aiming to identify the approaches to support the allocation of tasks in DSD contexts. Then, an approach was developed by applying VDA-based methods for classification and ordering. Bibliographic research and the application of surveys with professionals allowed identifying and characterising the main elements that influence task assignment in DSD projects. Afterwards, experiences were carried out in five real-world companies. In the end, the proposed approach has been submitted to the evaluation by the professionals of the participating companies and by some project management experts. The proposed approach comprises a workflow containing responsible actors and descriptions of the activities. Automated tools are also employed in automating the implementation of the approach. After applying the approach in five companies, task assignment recommendations are presented in groups for each company, according to the task type, i.e., requirements, architecture, coding, and testing, ranging from the most to the least preferable office. Results of the experiences and evaluations held during this work present evidence that the proposed approach is flexible, adaptable, and easy to understand and to use. Brazil is the second country in the world in aesthetic surgical procedures, with 905,000 procedures, being behind only the U.S., according to information corresponding to the year 2011 from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) and the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (BSPS). Given this scenario, we chose to study the adipose cells, which are a organ with intense metabolic and endocrine activity. Accumulated in excess adipocytes causes the disadvantages metabolic and endocrine in the organism, leading to obesity in general and located. This research referred to obesity marked by deposition in the abdominal area, that is denominated central or androide obesity, in the case of a localized adiposity. The objective of the research was to analyze the effects of therapeutic ultrasound and medium frequency current in this particular type of adiposity. The therapeutic protocol consisted of the utilization therapy of therapeutic ultrasound 3 MHz and medium frequency current (1 kHz, with Bursts of 2 ms), performed in ten sessions of 40-minute each. The sample consisted of 16 women, of whom 14 have finalized treatment. The assessment instruments used were: percentage of total body fat by bioimpedance, skinfold measurement in the region where localized adiposity was. We observed the reduction in measures measured in abdominal circumference and percentage decrease in total body fat measured on a digital scale bipolar bioimpedance, as well as the decrease measured by skinfold plicometer in all patients submitted to treatment. The results of submission to the treatment of Combined Therapy can be considered satisfactory, due the record in reducing the parameters analyzed, despite being necessary to a more thorough study on the subject and scientific substantiation in a larger sample. Fake news is a problem for society as some people trust the message and react accordingly, propagating the lie. The consequences vary from a simple laugh to a death sentence. Research has focused on distinguishing between fake and fact through machine learning techniques. Most literature reviews and mappings focus on techniques that identify the fake over the message content. In a complementary way, we investigate fake news detection approaches based on the senders' behavior on social media. We present a conceptual framework that deep dives into different aspects of the main categories of persuader, clarifier, and gullible actors. We also consider automatic and manual profiles. The results provide an overview of existing works on profile trustworthiness in fake news spread and shed light on possible research directions. © 2022 IEEE.

Hearing impairment was indicated as the second largest proven deficiency in world population. People with such disabilities face many obstacles in their communication and interaction with listeners, even with equal level of cognitive development. Collaborative tools offer the possibility to improve the interaction between listeners and hearing impaired subjects. This study presents an approach to support this type of interaction aimed to augment the participation of hearing impaired in collective activities. The approach has been materialized in a collaborative writing tool on which participants from both categories work together to produce a common document. The approach was evaluated by means of an experiment conducted with listeners and hearing impaired students in a learning environment. Analysis of the results obtained in the experiment show that the collaborative writing enhanced the interaction and contributes to a more harmonious and real coexistence among listeners and hearing impaired.

Professional vocalists modulate their voice timbre or pitch to make their vocal performance more expressive. Such fluctuations are called singing techniques. Automatic detection of singing techniques from audio tracks can be beneficial to understand how each singer expresses the performance, yet it can also be difficult due to the wide variety of the singing techniques. A deep neural network (DNN) model can handle such variety;however, there might be a possibility that considering the characteristics of the data improves the performance of singing technique detection. In this paper, we propose PrimaDNN, a CRNN model with a characteristics-oriented improvement. The features of the model are: 1) input feature representation based on auxiliary pitch information and multi-resolution mel spectrograms, 2) Convolution module based on the Squeeze-and-excitation (SENet) and the Instance normalization. In the results of J-POP singing technique detection, PrimaDNN achieved the best results of 44.9% at the overall macro-F measure, compared to conventional works. We also found that the contribution of each component varies depending on the type of singing technique. © 2023 European Signal Processing Conference, EUSIPCO. All rights reserved.

Nowadays, process management represents a fundamental initiative to provide competitive advantages to organizations. The ability to build and operate such processes can provide competitive advantages to these organizations. In this paper, we present an approach for elicitating and discovering problems in business processes that combines the technique of group storytelling with the theory of constraints. This article suggests that group storytelling allows the collection of knowledge to identify the gaps and deviations that exist in business processes, while the theory of constraints provides a language for representing them. We conducted and reported an experimentation of the proposed method in the petroleum field sampling process, with the support of a groupware tool. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
