The pandemic that has not ended has an impact on changing the educational paradigm. Existing conditions demand to continue to use virtual learning. During the epidemic, this study will examine students' demand for interactive multimedia in virtual learning. The interviews reveal that the media that teachers provide in virtual learning during this pandemic has limits. Data was gathered through interviews and questionnaires given to teachers and students. The student requirements questionnaire reveals that interactive multimedia is the most effective instructional medium for pupils. This study is part of a larger investigation of the evolution of multimedia learning during a pandemic. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

The Hospital is the most complex and representative establishment of the society and nowadays, among the most costly ones. ICTs may rationalize personnel-efforts and reduce energy and material-wasting, to enable health-care coverage, of unprivileged social-groups. The aim of the paper is to present the most effective and efficient means and tools, reducing unnecessary cost, as Mobile IP-network, Service-oriented architecture, provided to other components, through a communication protocol, over a network, Ubiquitous-computing, Femtocells, small, low-power cellular base-stations, typically designed for use in a hospital-department, ward-room or unit, Wireless mesh-networks, made-up of radio-nodes, organized in a mesh-topology, supporting intra-hospital data-exchange, training Multimedia-sharing over wireless networks, for real-time or compressed data-streaming over IP/wireless-networks for communication or archiving. Green-computing in wireless-networks, are limiting people and material intrahospital 'circulation' and, thus, they are enabling the necessary environmentally friendly and smooth procedures. Standardization, policies and regulations for green communications and computing, in 'green' Hospitals are indispensable and ICTs enable procedures optimization, solving energy- and material-waste problems, reducing the overall operational-cost, in the emerging 'smart, green and networked' Hospital, in favor of the people in need. © 2017 ITU.

This study aimed to study the influences of the pedagogical use of audio and video media by students in the production of educational content, using Internet research, reflections on the information and the recording of audio and video by secondary school students themselves in a public school in Rio Grande do Sul. The main question sought to answer how to use multisemiotic literacies of reading, writing, pictures, photos, audio and video production of school content to obtain meaningful learning. Preliminary results indicate a gradual increase in motivation and reflection of students by research, reading and writing the information in the teaching of the Portuguese language and literature. The experience has also shown the need for teacher training for the pedagogical use of communication, interaction and collaboration environments in social networks and technical training in the use of audio and video media in the classroom. The positive points observed in the research are the improvement of the capacity for reflection, motivation for contextual research, use of social networks as a communication and collaboration environment in group work, production of educational materials in audio and video media, improved self-criti- cism due to physical exposure of the students in the videos, speaking in public and 360? assessment performed by the students.

This Emotions play a significant role in determining human behavior, including the involvement and motivation of students, in the learning process. A digital game have become an important option, as a pedagogical tool, for the development of skills currently required for the insertion of an individual in labor market. This paper reports a research on a computational architecture, based on the techniques and methods of Learning Analytics, to assist educators, who use digital games as pedagogical tools, in assessing the impacts of a player's emotional states on his motivation to play and, consequently, in their learning. Such architecture aims to identify data on players' emotional states, through their facial expressions, and cross them with data on the players 'actions, game events or states, which can evidence their learning. A deep learning neural network is used in the identification of the playerś facial expressions, through images of the faces of the students playing. The capture of these images is done by a webcam, installed on the computer where the game is playing, which is triggered by an intelligent software agent, according to pre-established conditions. This intelligent software agent also captures the data about the learning evidences. A software module, to analyze learning and the possible impacts of players' emotional states on their learning, completes the proposed computational architecture. The work was developed in the discipline on digital games applied to education in a postgraduate course in Computer Science. © 2018 IEEE.

Stroke is an injury that affects the brain tissue, mainly caused by changes in the blood supply to a particular region of the brain. As consequence, some specific functions related to that affected region can be reduced, decreasing the quality of life of the patient. In this work, we deal with the problem of stroke detection in Computed Tomography (CT) images using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) optimized by Particle Swarm optimization (PSO). We considered two different kinds of strokes, ischemic and hemorrhagic, as well as making available a public dataset to foster the research related to stroke detection in the human brain. The dataset comprises three different types of images for each case, i.e., the original CT image, one with the segmented cranium and an additional one with the radiological density's map. The results evidenced that CNN's are suitable to deal with stroke detection, obtaining promising results. © 2018 IEEE.

Digital holography can record 3-D image of the object by using one CCD camera. Surface shape can be measured by changing angles of the object-illuminating mirror. But the measured signals are wrapped because of the periodicity of a sinusoidal function, and then phase unwrapping is needed. We have developed a new modified phase unwrapping method and applied it to surface measurement. Unwrapping errors were significantly reduced in comparison to application of the previous method.. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Changes in work and its practice are leading corporations to valorize workers not only for technical competencies but also social ones. This tendency has consequences both for workers who need to improve such competencies (most of the time on the fly), and for students who have to be prepared for such market. The aim of this work is to show how concepts from social learning theory and communities of practice are being used in the design of a learning environment that uses collaborative problem based learning (PBL) and portfolios. The environment encourages social interactions among its users where the development of social competencies is concerned. The work is divided in three parts; the first describes the collaborative learning model, the second describes how implementation evolved and finally considerations of what has been done and what future work is likely to be.

Currently we see globalization and technological advances accelerating worldwide, transforming the world of work and human coexistence. We still notice that the educational systems, in their majority, are disconnected from these global realities. In this sense, it is necessary to have an educational formation more aligned to the contemporary world, preparing young people for the challenges of the 21st century, how to deal with technological resources and processes, developing soft and hard skills. In this way, it can be observed that in recent years computational thinking has gained relevance in this scenario, being a field of research in the most varied areas of knowledge, developing communication skills, creativity, leadership, problem solving, familiarity with technologies, management, transforming young people into autonomous individuals who are prepared for the technological changes that the world requires. Taking these transformations as a reference, this paper describes/presents the development of an online tool to stimulate computational thinking in elementary school, through online games. he use of the ThinkinGame makes it possible to identify the pillars to be worked on with young people, after its use, thus improving the approaches to be given in the formation of these young people, being able to turn attention to the challenge of teaching additional skills, such as sophisticated thinking and flexible problem solving.

Society today is the information society, with global connections, telepresence, omnipresence, instantaneity, wide reach, multi formats, convergence, and more. People don't live without technology, then, what the technology can do for education? Despite all technology available, the education still suffers from old problems: distance between technologies and teaching methods, the students have difficulty learning, the school dropout, is necessary to understand the habits and mode of action of the new generations. This work is a PhD thesis in progress and inquires if and how it's possible to measure evidence of students' learning in class, at lab practice specially, and how it may support teacher's decisions on student guidance.

Technological developments in the current era make use of various media for learning. Learning media can facilitate and support practical activities to improve skills, one of which is by using video tutorial media because the video tutorials show the natural form of real objects to follow the instructions easily. This initial research aims to determine the need to develop video tutorial media used by teachers and students in the learning process to assemble computers at the Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta vocational high school. This study used a descriptive-qualitative method by conducting interviews with one teacher and distributing needs analysis questionnaires to 30 students of class X TKJ as research subjects. The results obtained from the statement questionnaire given to students, 93% agreed to develop a video tutorial to facilitate understanding of the material to assemble a computer used for independent or group study wherever and whenever. This research can be used as a criterion for developing instructional media for video tutorials following the material's characteristics for assembling computers. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
