To model the periodicity of beats, state-of-the-art beat tracking systems use "post-processing trackers" (PPTs) that rely on several empirically determined global assumptions for tempo transition, which work well for music with a steady tempo. For expressive classical music, however, these assumptions can be too rigid. With two large datasets of Western classical piano music, namely the Aligned Scores and Performances (ASAP) dataset and a dataset of Chopin's Mazurkas (Maz-5), we report on experiments showing the failure of existing PPTs to cope with local tempo changes, thus calling for new methods. In this paper, we propose a new local periodicity-based PPT, called predominant local pulse-based dynamic programming (PLPDP) tracking, that allows for more flexible tempo transitions. Specifically, the new PPT incorporates a method called "predominant local pulses" (PLP) in combination with a dynamic programming (DP) component to jointly consider the locally detected periodicity and beat activation strength at each time instant. Accordingly, PLPDP accounts for the local periodicity, rather than relying on a global tempo assumption. Compared to existing PPTs, PLPDP particularly enhances the recall values at the cost of a lower precision, resulting in an overall improvement of F1-score for beat tracking in ASAP (from 0.473 to 0.493) and Maz-5 (from 0.595 to 0.838). © 2023, CC BY.

Fuzzy logic can be used to represent obscurity based on terms such as high, old, hot, cold, and so on. Fuzzy logic can extend the range of truth values to all real numbers in intervals between 0 and 1. Numbers in this interval represent the possibility that the statement given is "true"or "wrong". The use of fuzzy logic can be used in everyday life, such as in the fields of medicine, engineering, agriculture, transportation, environmental science and also in economic and business applications. As in this study, it was used to calculate the ideal amount of 'tips' for restaurant waiters based on the service provided by restaurant waiters. The method used in this study is to use Mamdani fuzzy logic with the process of defuzzyfication using the Centroid of area (COA). The results of this study are that it can be determined the value crisp of giving tips to restaurant waiters is 45 thousand rupiah provided that the service provided for service = 7 (Excellent) and food service = 8 (Delicious).. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

An Analysis Method for Metric-Level Switching in Beat Tracking

For expressive music, the tempo may change over time, posing challenges to tracking the beats by an automatic model. The model may first tap to the correct tempo, but then may fail to adapt to a tempo change, or switch between several incorrect but perceptually plausible ones (e.g., half- or double-tempo). Existing evaluation metrics for beat tracking do not reflect such behaviors, as they typically assume a fixed relationship between the reference beats and estimated beats. In this paper, we propose a new performance analysis method, called annotation coverage ratio (ACR), that accounts for a variety of possible metric-level switching behaviors of beat trackers. The idea is to derive sequences of modified reference beats of all metrical levels for every two consecutive reference beats, and compare every sequence of modified reference beats to the subsequences of estimated beats. We show via experiments on three datasets of different genres the usefulness of ACR when being utilized alongside existing metrics, and discuss the new insights that can be gained. © 2022, CC BY.

In HV equipment, the most critical and valuable components used is transformers. Power transformers should go through standard diagnostic tests to identify deterioration or to avoid the emergence of defects that might possibly cause severe failure. Frequency Response Analysis already proven to be a promising tool in diagnostic techniques that make use of this understanding to find such changes. FRA has so far been used to detect deformation in transformers by observing changes in the frequency response curve, despite a limited understanding of what caused the changes in the initial case. Several FRA methods have been implemented recently all around the world, primarily for transformer deformation detection and diagnosis. Nonetheless, there is now an increasing amount of research focused on determining specifically the type and degree of deformation in a transformer by looking at its FRA response curve. It is very important to refer to the guidance given in the recently published IEC, IEEE, SPLN, and CIGRE standards to ensure the accuracy of the analysis of the frequency response results. An approach for transformer diagnostics is discussed in this research by doing a comparative analysis with four study cases related to various physical phenomena and examining the cross-combined between standards and field FRA results. Four FRA measurement cases are taken from the experience in PLN, namely: Tayan (water contamination), Sanggau (transformers relocation), Sambas (rebuilding transformer foundation), and Cianjur (earthquake). The evaluation results indicate that the IEEE and IEC diagnostic standards have an assessment that is closest to the actual condition that is influenced by variations in wide band frequency measurement.

In this research study, we compare the predictive performance of two advanced deep learning-based models in order to provide a solution to TACE (Transarterial Chemoembolization) response prediction in HCC (Hepatocellular Carcinoma) patients. Using entire abdominal CT scans enabled a broader perspective available for the model, eliminating the need for segmentation during the preprocessing. Making use of both single-phase and multi-phase CT imaging, we have used DenseNet121 and have obtained an accuracy of 80% for the multi-phase *** Relevance: The ability to predict the effectiveness of TACE treatment prior to its administration makes it possible to provide a better decision-making aid for physicians and patients.

In Epidemiology, the study of several diseases is related to the geographical territory in which it occurs. Some spatial clustering methods are able to perform statistical decision about the significance of territories. However, each method is based on a different methodology, providing different results as well. Recently, some authors proposed combining spatial clustering methods in order to provide more accurate results. This paper propose two new combining rules based on Cardinality of Fuzzy Sets, generalizing the classical Majority Voting and Plurality Voting. A study of case using real Dengue Fever epidemiological data and combining five spatial clustering methods was performed. In this study the Fuzzy Plurality Voting provided better decision map than the classical ones, when compared to a reference map. © 2020 IEEE.

Basement relief gravimetry is a key application in geophysics, particularly important for oil exploration and mineral prospecting. It involves solving an inverse geophysical problem, where the parameters of a geological model are inferred from observed data. In this context, the geological model consists of the depths of constant-density prisms representing the basement relief, and the data correspond to the gravitational anomalies caused by these prisms. Inverse geophysical problems are typically ill-posed, as defined by Hadamard, meaning that small perturbations in the data can result in large variations in the solutions. To address this instability, regularization techniques, such as those proposed by Tikhonov, are employed to stabilize the solutions. This study presents a comparative analysis of various regularization techniques applied to the gravimetric inversion problem, including Smoothness Constraints, Total Variation, the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), and the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) using Daubechies D4 wavelets. Optimization methods are commonly used in inverse geophysical problems because of their ability to find optimal parameters that minimize the objective function—in this case, the depths of the prisms that best explain the observed gravitational anomalies. The Genetic Algorithm (GA) was selected as the optimization technique. GA is based on Darwinian evolutionary theory, specifically the principle of natural selection, where the fittest individuals in a population are selected to pass on their traits. In optimization, this translates to selecting solutions that most effectively minimize the objective function. The results, evaluated using fit metrics and cumulative error analysis, demonstrate the effectiveness of all the regularization techniques and the Genetic Algorithm. In 2023, we proposed a hypothetical knowledge management framework that incorporates science fiction prototyping (SFP) into the traditional roadmapping (RM) method to make RM more innovative and create a future beyond what we can currently imagine. Our main objective is to create a new organizational knowledge co-creation method for generating innovative ideas by incorporating humanistic factors utilizing SFP into RM. In the current article, we present the exploratory study we conducted to examine the hypothetical framework. Experimental workshops were held in November 2023 to compare the integrated method, in which SFP is applied to RM, with the original RM method. We followed a crossover design in the workshops and analyzed the results qualitatively and quantitatively following the perspectives proposed in the hypothetical framework. The qualitative analysis revealed successful integration regarding diverse and broader perspectives. The quantitative analysis utilizing Wilcoxon signed rank tests showed that the scores of the integrated method were significantly higher than those of RM for variables evaluating the effectiveness of the integration, while not for variables related to participants' feelings and satisfaction with the workshops, and sustainability. These findings indicate that the integration was successful in terms of its effectiveness as a method, while participants' subjective feelings toward the workshops were not different in both methods. As for sustainability, which requires a long-term perspective, no apparent differences were observed in these short-term workshops.

Towards an automated repository for indexing, analysis and characterization of municipal e-government websites in Mexico

This article addresses a problem in the electronic government discipline with special interest in Mexico: the need for a concentrated and updated information source about municipal e-government websites. One reason for this is the inexistence of a complete and updated database containing the electronic addresses (web domain names) of the municipal governments having a website. Due to diverse causes, not all the Mexican municipalities have one, and a number of those having it do not present information corresponding to the current governments but, instead, to other previous ones. The scarce official lists of municipal websites are not updated with the sufficient frequency, and manually determining which municipalities have an operating and valid website in a given moment is a time-consuming process. Besides, website contents do not always comply with legal requirements and are considerably heterogeneous. In turn, the evolution development level of municipal websites is valuable information that can be harnessed for diverse theoretical and practical purposes in the public administration field. Obtaining all these pieces of information requires website content analysis. Therefore, this article investigates the need for and the feasibility to automate implementation and updating of a digital repository to perform diverse analyses of these websites. Its technological feasibility is addressed by means of a literature review about web scraping and by proposing a preliminary manual methodology. This takes into account known, proven, techniques and software tools for web crawling and scraping. No new techniques for crawling or scraping are proposed because the existing ones satisfy the current needs. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, are increasingly used for various tasks. However, increased usage leads to more failures, posing risks to humans and the environment. This study identifies propeller imbalance faults in Brushless DC (BLDC) motors of UAVs. It compares two fault detection methodologies based on chaotic behavior: the alreadyknown CNN approach, and the SAC-DM+CNN approach. Both methods involve acquiring audio signals, generating spectrograms, and training a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model. Results show that the CNN approach achieves 98.18% accuracy, while the SAC-DM+CNN approach achieves 71.43% accuracy in classifying propeller balance faults.
