For several years, United Nations have been concerned with Global Forests Issues. One of its Sustainable Development Goals focuses on Life on Land emphasizes the importance of forests to people which leads to a vision of increasing the forestland area by 2030. The Philippines, in response to this through the National Greening program under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources is targeting to rehabilitate 7.1 million hectares of identified unproductive, denuded and degraded forestlands and need to plant 1.5 billion seedlings. This study aims to develop a forecasting model for forestland rehabilitation using Artificial Neural Network with Back-Propagation algorithm. The model will be able to identify among which of the factors or predictors contributed greatly or significantly to the changes occurred in the forestland. Results are then presented using Spatiotemporal Visualization, which illustrates the changes happened in the forestland in a yearly basis using historical data. The model may be used to forecast the size of the forestland that will be rehabilitated for the succeeding years based on the identified predictors, which may be used as a guide by the NGP for reforestation strategic planning and resource management. © 2020 Mattingley Publishing. As Metaverse emerges as the next-generation Internet paradigm, the ability to efficiently generate content is paramount. AI-Generated Content (AIGC) emerges as a key solution, yet the resource-intensive nature of large Generative AI (GAI) models presents challenges. To address this issue, we introduce an AIGC-as-a-Service (AaaS) architecture, which deploys AIGC models in wireless edge networks to ensure broad AIGC services accessibility for Metaverse users. Nonetheless, an important aspect of providing personalized user experiences requires carefully selecting AIGC Service Providers (ASPs) capable of effectively executing user tasks, which is complicated by environmental uncertainty and variability. Addressing this gap in current research, we introduce the AI-Generated Optimal Decision (AGOD) algorithm, a diffusion model-based approach for generating the optimal ASP selection decisions. Integrating AGOD with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), we develop the Deep Diffusion Soft Actor-Critic (D2SAC) algorithm, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of ASP selection. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that D2SAC outperforms seven leading DRL algorithms. Furthermore, the proposed AGOD algorithm has the potential for extension to various optimization problems in wireless networks, positioning it as a promising approach for future research on AIGC-driven services. Advancements in smart vehicle design have enabled the creation of Internet of Vehicle (IoV) technologies that can utilize the information provided by various sensors and wireless communication to perform complex functionality. Many of these functionalities rely on high computational power and low latency. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) technologies have been proposed as a way to meet these requirements, as their proximity and decentralization provide unique benefits for networks like real-time communication, higher throughput, and flexibility. Diverse challenges to the process of offloading data in a MEC-enabled IoV network have emerged, such as offloading reliability in highly mobile environments, security for users within the same network, and energy management to keep users from being disincentivized to participate in the network. This article surveys research studies that use AI as part of the data offloading process, categorized based on four main issues: reliability, security, energy management, and service seller profit. While several content management systems (CMS) and audience analytics tools are available for digital signage in the market, they are often sold separately and can be expensive. Therefore, this project aims to design a cost-effective and unified web-based solution for digital signage that combines content management and audience analytics functions, reducing the need for multiple purchases. This can be achieved by utilizing Raspberry Pi technology, known for its cost-effectiveness and versatility in integrations, along with a face recognition camera and machine learning methods. This proof of concept demonstrates the integration of these components to create a dynamic digital signage system. Overall, this project has the potential to offer an affordable solution for companies aiming to efficiently manage and optimize their digital marketing strategies, especially in the Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) Advertising space.

Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a pivotal genetic marker influencing the efficacy of immunotherapy in colorectal cancer. Traditional MSI examination often requires additional genetic or immunohistochemical tests, whereas histology images, widely available in colorectal cancer diagnosis, offer a valuable alternative for MSI prediction. Although Transformer-based models have demonstrated promising outcomes in predicting MSI from histology images, they are hampered by traditional local attention mechanisms that struggle to capture long-range interdependencies and establish a comprehensive global receptive field. In this study, we introduce DiNAT-MSI, a novel framework for histology-based MSI prediction that incorporates the Dilated Neighborhood Attention Transformer (DiNAT). This model enhances global context recognition and substantially expands receptive fields, all without additional computational burden. Our results demonstrate that DiNAT-MSI achieves a superior patientwise AUROC compared to ResNet18 and Swin Transformer, along with commendable explainability. Our work not only illustrates a more accessible diagnostic tool for leveraging histological data but also underscores the potential of Transformerbased models with sophisticated attention designs in advancing precision medicine for colorectal cancer patients.

The popularity of Metaverse as an entertainment, social, and work platform has led to a great need for seamless avatar integration in the virtual world. In Metaverse, avatars must be updated and rendered to reflect users' behaviour. Achieving real-time synchronization between the virtual bilocation and the user is complex, placing high demands on the Metaverse Service Provider (MSP)'s rendering resource allocation scheme. To tackle this issue, we propose a semantic communication framework that leverages contest theory to model the interactions between users and MSPs and determine optimal resource allocation for each user. To reduce the consumption of network resources in wireless transmission, we use the semantic communication technique to reduce the amount of data to be transmitted. Under our simulation settings, the encoded semantic data only contains 51 bytes of skeleton coordinates instead of the image size of 8.243 megabytes. Moreover, we implement Deep Q-Network to optimize reward settings for maximum performance and efficient resource allocation. With the optimal reward setting, users are incentivized to select their respective suitable uploading frequency, reducing down-sampling loss due to rendering resource constraints by 66.076% compared with the traditional average distribution method. The framework provides a novel solution to resource allocation for avatar association in VR environments, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience for all users.

The proliferation of deepfake videos, synthetic media produced through advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques, has raised significant concerns across various sectors, encompassing realms such as politics, entertainment, and security. In response, this research introduces an innovative and streamlined model designed to classify deepfake videos generated by five distinct encoders adeptly. Our approach not only achieves state-of-the-art performance but also optimizes computational resources. At its core, our solution employs part of a VGG19_bn as a backbone to efficiently extract features, a strategy proven effective in image-related tasks. We integrate a Capsule Network coupled with a Spatial-Temporal attention mechanism to bolster the model’s classification capabilities while conserving resources. This combination captures intricate hierarchies among features, facilitating robust identification of deepfake attributes. Delving into the intricacies of our innovation, we introduce an existing video-level fusion technique that artfully capitalizes on temporal attention mechanisms. This mechanism serves to handle concatenated feature vectors, capitalizing on the intrinsic temporal dependencies embedded within deepfake videos. By aggregating insights across frames, our model gains a holistic comprehension of video content, resulting in more precise predictions. Experimental results on an extensive benchmark dataset of deepfake videos (DFDM) showcase the efficacy of our proposed method. Notably, our approach achieves up to a 4% improvement in accurately categorizing deepfake videos compared to baseline models, all while demanding fewer computational resources. Towards Adversarial Robustness for Multi-Mode Data through Metric Learning

Adversarial attacks have become one of the most serious security issues in widely used deep neural networks. Even though real-world datasets usually have large intra-variations or multiple modes, most adversarial defense methods, such as adversarial training, which is currently one of the most effective defense methods, mainly focus on the single-mode setting and thus fail to capture the full data representation to defend against adversarial attacks. To confront this challenge, we propose a novel multi-prototype metric learning regularization for adversarial training which can effectively enhance the defense capability of adversarial training by preventing the latent representation of the adversarial example changing a lot from its clean one. With extensive experiments on CIFAR10, CIFAR100, MNIST, and Tiny ImageNet, the evaluation results show the proposed method improves the performance of different state-of-the-art adversarial training methods without additional computational cost. Furthermore, besides Tiny ImageNet, in the multi-prototype CIFAR10 and CIFAR100 where we reorganize the whole datasets of CIFAR10 and CIFAR100 into two and ten classes, respectively, the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art approach by 2.22% and 1.65%, respectively. Furthermore, the proposed multi-prototype method also outperforms its single-prototype version and other commonly used deep metric learning approaches as regularization for adversarial training and thus further demonstrates its effectiveness. © 2023 by the authors.

This paper proposes a lower limb rehabilitation robot for normal walking in post-stroke hemiplegic patients. Ergometers are commonly used for lower limb rehabilitation, but their use has depended on the experience of physiotherapists. Therefore, this paper proposes a new rehabilitation robot based on an ergometer that leads the patient to voluntary muscle activity and learns how to use the muscles required for normal walking. The paper first compares how pedestrians walk between a normal person and a hemiplegic patient using muscle synergy analysis to identify the lower limb usage required for normal gait. The paper then proposes a method to approach the use of the lower limb required for normal gait by changing the load depending on the position of the pedals when a hemiplegic patient uses the ergometer. This will enable stroke hemiplegic patients to train for normal gait by pedaling the ergometer. The above proposed method has been implemented in our prototype robot and the effectiveness of our proposed method has been confirmed in experiments with post-stroke hemiplegic patients as subjects.
