Classification is a technique in machine learning that is used to built the group of data. The data that consist of class and target are grouped based on the data attachment to the sample data, so that the data group can be used as a basis for making decisions at a later stage. This study aims to find a classification of two diseases, dengue fever and typhus which have similar symptoms using a combination of two techniques, 5-Fold Cross Validation and K-Nearest Neighbor. The combination of these techniques is done to improve the accuracy of the classification, feature selection is done in preprocessing phase to collect verified feature to get information gain to measure which feature is kept and continue to next stage of classification process. A confusion matrix will be applied to test the performance in terms of the accuracy of the constructed classification. K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) is a classification method that applies a supervised algorithm, while 5-Fold Cross Validation is a statistical method that is applied to test the performance of a method or technique. This investigation resulted in an increase in the value of accuracy and recall, with a score of 1.79 points and a recall value of 96.43%.

Metaverse provides embodied artificial-reality experience to the users in the virtual spaces. Many innovative and creative services such as virtual conference and tourism have been realized in the digital twins maintained by the virtual service providers (VSP) in Metaverse. Digital twins are digital copies of the physical world constructed virtually by the VSPs using real-world data. For a realistic experience, VSPs need to collect data that is up-to-date and relevant to their services. In this paper, we propose an incentive design framework to support the data trading between VSPs and edge devices. In the auction model, we model the valuation of data by considering data relatedness and data freshness. In our model, the semantic communication model is used to filter the relevant data, and the age of information (AoI) metric is used to assess the data freshness. Results show that by considering the data freshness, our mechanism helps to increase the average update frequency so that the VSPs obtain fresh data for construction of digital twins. Our model ensures the desired properties of individual rationality, incentive compatibility, and budget balance.

Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery imaging (FLAIR) is a magnetic resonance (MR) method that is frequently utilized to diagnose brain lesions. However, it usually provides transverse section imaging in high resolution but with very low resolution in the other axis. This non-isotropy huddles its wide utilization in research including machine learning. In this study, we applied a deep-learning based super resolution (SR) technique to convert non-isotropic FLAIR images into isotropic one. We proposed a multi-input 3D ResUnet that uses both FLAIR and T1-weighted MR images as its inputs. As a result, our proposed model successfully reconstructed isotropic FLAIR images (SSIM: 0.9947 $\pm 0.0009)$ , and out-performed the FLAIR only single-input 3D ResUnet.

Forged content shared widely on social media platforms is a major social problem that requires increased regulation and poses new challenges to the research community. The recent proliferation of hyper-realistic deepfake videos has drawn attention to the threat of audio and visual forgeries. Most previous work on detecting AI-generated fake videos only utilizes visual modality or audio modality. While there are some methods in the literature that exploit audio and visual modalities to detect forged videos, they have not been comprehensively evaluated on multi-modal datasets of deepfake videos involving acoustic and visual manipulations. Moreover, these existing methods are mostly based on CNN and suffer from low detection accuracy. Inspired by the recent success of Transformer in various fields, to address the challenges posed by deepfake technology, in this paper, we propose an Audio-Visual Transformer-based Ensemble Network (AVTENet) framework that considers both acoustic manipulation and visual manipulation to achieve effective video forgery detection. Specifically, the proposed model integrates several purely transformer-based variants that capture video, audio, and audio-visual salient cues to reach a consensus in prediction. For evaluation, we use the recently released benchmark multi-modal audio-video FakeAVCeleb dataset. For a detailed analysis, we evaluate AVTENet, its variants, and several existing methods on multiple test sets of the FakeAVCeleb dataset. Experimental results show that our best model outperforms all existing methods and achieves state-of-the-art performance on Testset-I and Testset-II of the FakeAVCeleb dataset. © 2023, CC BY.

Performance Prediction in Major League Baseball by Long Short-Term Memory Networks

Player performance prediction is a serious problem in every sport since it brings valuable future information for managers to make important decisions. In baseball industries, there already existed variable prediction systems and many types of researches that attempt to provide accurate predictions and help domain users. However, it is a lack of studies about the predicting method or systems based on deep learning. Deep learning models had proven to be the greatest solutions in different fields nowadays, so we believe they could be tried and applied to the prediction problem in baseball. Hence, the predicting abilities of deep learning models are set to be our research problem in this paper. As a beginning, we select numbers of home runs as the target because it is one of the most critical indexes to understand the power and the talent of baseball hitters. Moreover, we use the sequential model Long Short-Term Memory as our main method to solve the home run prediction problem in Major League Baseball. We compare models' ability with several machine learning models and a widely used baseball projection system, sZymborski Projection System. Our results show that Long Short-Term Memory has better performance than others and has the ability to make more exact predictions. We conclude that Long Short-Term Memory is a feasible way for performance prediction problems in baseball and could bring valuable information to fit users' needs. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. In agricultural water research, the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has emerged as a pivotal approach for large-scale data collection. Water availability in the context of water quality is very important, both for domestic and industrial purposes. For domestic purposes, drinking water and bathing water are separated. Meanwhile, for the palm oil industry, boiler filler is differentiated from additional process water (dilution water). Water quality parameters can be assessed from turbidity and Total Dissolve Solid (TDS). Measurements using measuring instruments separately and repeatedly require significant energy, time, and costs. This research was conducted with the primary objective of presenting a novel method for categorizing water quality with the approach of IoT sensor technology. The research methodology entailed the utilization of an integrated IoT water sensors system in conjunction with manual water categorization. The methods consist of (1) system design, (2) design and installation of sensor and IoT-based microcontrollers, and (3) accuracy and precision testing compared with laboratory measurements. The precision of the integrated IoT water sensors was assessed through a dedicated sensor precision test, resulting in an accuracy rate of 94.4% for the turbidity sensor and 97.5% for the TDS sensor. Notably, this approach successfully discriminated drinking water with valid categorization, while other water types, including groundwater, water with tea, and water with coffee, yielded null categorization results.

Air pollution makes it worse in populated regions. Indonesia's major cities are also impacted by air pollution. Due to rising traffic, material consumption by vehicles, industrial growth, land burning, and garbage collection, air quality has altered significantly. Accurate measurement and classification of air quality are required. Results of accurate classification aid in forming governmental regulations. To reach the criteria for livable air quality, we intend to manage controls. Some of the characteristics of air pollution include particulate (PM10) or PM25, sulfides (in the form of SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), and nitrites (NO2). Using the XGBoost algorithm and synthetic minority oversampling (SMOTE) methods based on the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) category, this study seeks to uncover factors that affect air quality. XGBoost, an ensemble machine learning approach built on a decision tree and applying a gradient reinforcement framework, is the classification algorithm in use. Air quality categorization has been tested and shown to work with the XGBoost algorithm. The dataset used in this study is air quality in 2021 which was collected by the Jakarta Environmental Ministry The proposed classification model will be evaluated using the Repeated k-fold cross-validation method for objective results. The results of the study prove that SMOTE and XGBoost have better performance than using only the XGBoost method in predicting air quality, where the overall accuracy value of SMOTE with XGBoost is 99.60%, The overall precision value is 99.60%, the overall recall value is 99.60% and the overall f1-score is 99.60% and the overall ROC AUC value is 99.96%. The overall SMOTE method with the proposed XGBoost has given better performance in air pollution prediction.

Our research specifies the criteria for categorizing comments and supplements the limitations of the existing services that filter out only some of the direct malicious comments centered on specific vocabulary and phrases. In comparison to prior research detecting three sentiments as positive, negative, or neutral, we subdivided expressions into six categories. Our model applying classification downstream tasks to a pre-trained KcBERT model draws results reflecting the meaning and social context of the comments. Monitoring the quality of river water is of fundamental importance and needs to be taken into consideration when it comes to the research into the hydrological field. In this context, the concentration of the dissolved oxygen (DO) is one of the most significant indicators of the quality of river water. The current study aimed to estimate the minimum, maximum, and mean DO concentrations (DO min, DO max, DO mean) at a gauging station located on Tualatin River, United States. To that end, four machine learning models, such as support vector regression (SVR), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), random forest (RF), and gradient boosting (GB) were established. Root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), coefficient of correlation (R), and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) metrics were employed to better assess the accuracies of these models. The modeling results demonstrated that the SVR and MLP surpassed the RF and GB models. Despite this, the SVR was concluded to be the best-performing method when used to estimate the DO min, DO max, and DO mean. The best error statistics in the testing phase were related to the SVR model with full (four) inputs to estimate DO mean concentration (RMSE = 0.663 mg/l, MAE = 0.508 mg/l, R = 0.945, NSE = 0.875). Finally, the explainability of the superior models (i.e. SVR models) was conducted using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) for the first time to estimate DO concentration. In fact, evaluating the explainability of machine learning models can provide useful information about the impact of each of the input estimators used in the procedure of models development. It was concluded that the specific conductance (SC) and followed by water temperature (WT) could provide the most contributions for estimating the DO min, DO max, and DO mean concentrations. © 2024 The Author(s).
