The nearby radio galaxy M87 offers a unique opportunity to explore the connections between the central supermassive black hole and relativistic jets. Previous studies of the inner region of M87 revealed a wide opening angle for the jet originating near the black hole 1–4. The Event Horizon Telescope resolved the central radio source and found an asymmetric ring structure consistent with expectations from General Relativity 5. With a baseline of 17 years of observations, there was a shift in the jet’s transverse position, possibly arising from an eight to ten-year quasi-periodicity 3. However, the origin of this sideways shift remains unclear. Here we report an analysis of radio observations over 22 years that suggests a period of about 11 years in the position angle variation of the jet. We infer that we are seeing a spinning black hole that induces the Lense-Thirring precession of a misaligned accretion disk. Similar jet precession may commonly occur in other active galactic nuclei but has been challenging to detect owing to the small magnitude and long period of the variation. Computational models of acoustic wave propagation are frequently used in transcranial ultrasound therapy, for example, to calculate the intracranial pressure field or to calculate phase delays to correct for skull distortions. To allow intercomparison between the different modeling tools and techniques used by the community, an international working group was convened to formulate a set of numerical benchmarks. Here, these benchmarks are presented, along with intercomparison results. Nine different benchmarks of increasing geometric complexity are defined. These include a single-layer planar bone immersed in water, a multi-layer bone, and a whole skull. Two transducer configurations are considered (a focused bowl and a plane piston), giving a total of 18 permutations of the benchmarks. Eleven different modeling tools are used to compute the benchmark results. The models span a wide range of numerical techniques, including the finite-difference time-domain method, angular-spectrum method, pseudospectral method, boundary-element method, and spectral-element method. Good agreement is found between the models, particularly for the position, size, and magnitude of the acoustic focus within the skull. When comparing results for each model with every other model in a cross comparison, the median values for each benchmark for the difference in focal pressure and position are less than 10% and 1 mm, respectively. The benchmark definitions, model results, and intercomparison codes are freely available to facilitate further comparisons. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We would like to measured the information system of Pamulang University library through the usability evaluation. The method in this study uses the adoption of the Knowledge Management System Life Cycle (KMSLC) life cycle. Where the stages used consist of Evaluation of Existing Infrastructure Analysis, Capture Knowledge, Implementing the KM system, Evaluation. The steps taken are system analysis, knowledge mapping in the application, implementation results and evaluation using usability. The questionnaire was conducted on 20 respondents, including 10 students and 10 Pamulang University lecturers. The questionnaire was conducted in 3 categories namely effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction with 10 questions each so that there were 60 questions and 3 linkers namely 4 if they all agreed, 2 if they did not know and 0 did not agree. The results of the SUMI questionnaire against the Library are 90; 75; 75; 87.5; 90; 75. The usability evaluation results are above average, meaning that the usability in the UNPAM Library system is already in the good category.

Onthe smoothness of nonlinear system identification

New light is shed onto optimization problems resulting from prediction error parameter estimation of linear and nonlinear systems. It is shown that the "smoothness" of the objective function depends both on the simulation length and on the decay rate of the prediction model. More precisely, for regions of the parameter space where the model is not contractive, the Lipschitz constant and β-smoothness of the objective function might blow up exponentially with the simulation length, making it hard to numerically find minima within those regions or, even, to escape from them. In addition to providing theoretical understanding of this problem, this paper also proposes the use of multiple shooting as a viable solution. The proposed method minimizes the error between a prediction model and observed values. Rather than running the prediction model over the entire dataset, as in the original prediction error formulation, multiple shooting splits the data into smaller subsets and runs the prediction model over each subdivision, making the simulation length a design parameter and making it possible to solve problems that would be infeasible using a standard approach. The equivalence with the original problem is obtained by including constraints in the optimization. The method is illustrated for the parameter estimation of nonlinear systems with chaotic or unstable behavior, as well as on neural network parameter estimation. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. Cancer is a term used to refer to a large set of diseases. The cancerous cells grow and divide and, as a result, they form tumours that grow in size. The immune system recognise the cancerous cells and attack them, though, it can be weakened by the cancer. One type of cancer treatment is chemotherapy, which uses drugs to kill cancer cells. Clinical, experimental, and theoretical research has been developed to understand the dynamics of cancerous cells with chemotherapy treatment, as well as the interaction between tumour growth and immune system. We study a mathematical model that describes the cancer growth, immune system response, and chemotherapeutic agents. The immune system is composed of resting cells that are converted to hunting cells to combat the cancer. In this work, we consider drug sensitive and resistant cancer cells. We show that the tumour growth can be controlled not only by means of different chemotherapy protocols, but also by the immune system that attacks both sensitive and resistant cancer cells. Furthermore, for all considered protocols, we demonstrate that the time delay from resting to hunting cells plays a crucial role in the combat against cancer cells. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Grabb mobile application is a tool that is often used by people to travel. Each will travel then grabb will be ordered and pickup in front of the house and delivered to the destination location according to the address written on the application. Much knowledge can be disseminated through this Grabb application. Among them Grabbb car when going to go using a car, grabbike, service and others. The method in this study uses the adoption of a knowledge management system life cycle (KMSLC). Where the stages used are consists of Analysis of Existing Infrastructure Evaluation, Knowledge Capture, Implement the KM system, Evaluation. The steps taken are system analysis, knowledge mapping in the application, the results of implementation and evaluation using usability with 10 respondents through the adoption of Software Usability Measurement Inventory (SUMI). The results of SUMI's Usability are effectiveness with a value of 90, efficiency 70 and satisfaction 70. By looking at these results, the mobile grabb application is included in the good category because the value of usabililty is above average. A post-publication change was made to this article on 20 Apr 2020 as the previously published article was a duplicate.

Japan Astrometry Satellite Mission for INfrared Exploration (JASMINE) is a planned M-class science space mission by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. JASMINE has two main science goals. One is the Galactic archaeology with Galactic Center Survey, which aims to reveal the Milky Way's central core structure and formation history from Gaia-level (∼25 µas) astrometry in the Near-Infrared (NIR) Hw-band (1.0-1.6 µm). The other is the Exoplanet Survey, which aims to discover transiting Earth-like exoplanets in the habitable zone from NIR time-series photometry of M dwarfs when the Galactic center is not accessible. We introduce the mission, review many science objectives, and present the instrument concept. JASMINE will be the first dedicated NIR astrometry space mission and provide precise astrometric information of the stars in the Galactic center, taking advantage of the significantly lower extinction in the NIR. The precise astrometry is obtained by taking many short-exposure images. Hence, the JASMINE Galactic center survey data will be valuable for studies of exoplanet transits, asteroseismology, variable stars and microlensing studies, including discovery of (intermediate mass) black holes. Anharmonicities in phonon combinations and overtones in bilayered graphene: A temperature-dependent approach

This paper studies phonon anharmonicities related to the phonon combination LOZO′ and phonon overtone 2ZO in a AB-stacked bilayer graphene (2LG). The results explain in detail the rule of the ZO′ layer breathing mode in the 2LG electron and phonon relaxations, especially at temperatures above 543 K, where anomalous behaviors are observed for the LOZO′ frequencies, linewidths (and therefore, lifetimes), and integrated areas. Surprisingly, the 2ZO frequencies and linewidths do not show any dependence with temperature (ZO is the out-of-phase vibration of the layers). This result is explained via nonsymmetric lattice distortions and via the almost null Grüneisen parameter associated to the ZO mode. Recently, the correct assignments for the phonon combination and overtone modes studied here have been put in debate once again in a theoretical work by Popov [Carbon 91, 436 (2015)]. This work shows how temperature-dependent Raman spectroscopy is used to propose a solution for these recent assignment problems. Finally, although 2LG is the system used here, the measurements and discussions to approach electron and phonon relaxations have the potential to be extended to any other multilayered structure that presents ZO′- and ZO-like phonon modes.

Traditional disease surveillance systems depend on outpatient reporting and virological test results released by hospitals. These data have valid and accurate information about emerging outbreaks but it's often not timely. In recent years the exponential growth of users getting connected to social media provides immense knowledge about epidemics by sharing related information. Social media can now flag more immediate concerns related to outbreaks in real time. In this paper we apply the long short-term memory recurrent neural network (RNN) architecture to classify tweets conveyed influenza-related information and compare its performance with baseline algorithms including support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, naive Bayes, simple logistics, and naive Bayes multinomial. The developed RNN model achieved an F-score of 0.845 on the MedWeb task test set, which outperforms the F-score of SVM without applying the synthetic minority oversampling technique by 0.08. The F-score of the RNN model is within 1% of the highest score achieved by SVM with oversampling technique. © 2017 AFNLP
