This paper presents an implementation of the Ant Colony Algorithm for the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP). For the calculation of the best way between two adjacent points in the route, the classical algorithm of Dijkstra was used. Field activities and tests were carried out in different collective organisations, and collection and distribution route maps were created for each pilot-organisation. During the development of the system, some processes were revised in order to better adjust the routes, after considering the parameters related to cost, time and sales volume. The main difficulties in the development of this system were related to the adaptation of the standards proposed by urban routing systems to a rural context. Also, concerning the future trends of the model, many efforts have been made to improve the geographical interface and to test other VRP algorithms, like VRP with time windows and Dynamic VRP. We demonstrated a new structure of optical interconnect module based on double side perforated silicon optical platform. This structure can eliminate the use of micro mirrors, lens, and guide pin, leading to a reduced packaging cost and volume. Simulation results show that the proposed structure can result in high coupling efficiency with relaxed permissible error for assembly. © 2012 IEEE.

To extract Part-Whole relations, especially the stuff relation, from unstructured textual data is the challenging work This paper presents how to automatically extract the stuff relation from technical documents on the Web for supporting chemical industries. The research extracts the stuff relation without applying POS (Part-of-Speech) annotation. There are three problems of extracting the stuff relation: a) the identification of stuff relation without POS annotation problem, b) the chemical-formula-embedded name entity determination problem and c) the genus-species name entity determination problem. We propose using Naive Bayes to learn the stuff relation. The results from our proposed methodology are 87% precision and 61% recall.

This paper proposes a microassembly process that easily realizes a gimbal-less two-axis electrostatic MEMS scanner with fixed angular vertical comb electrodes (FAVCs). The fabrication steps can be remarkably reduced by employing a microassembly, as there is no need to add an insulation layer and conduct a multi-step etching process for SVCs. The reduction in the number of fabrication steps also improves the device yield and reduces fabrication errors. The proposed scanner can be readily applied to various optical applications, as the slow axis is driven by quasi-static operation, allowing the amplitude of the scanning angle to remain constant within a specific frequency range.

As the rapid growth of smart phone technology, people have a lot of digital image information such as digital photos or videos. Both data hiding and data compression are very important technologies in image processing field. On the overview, it seems that there is no relationship between data hiding and data compression because data hiding mechanisms focus on information security and data compression mechanisms emphasize the compression ratio. However, the more secret data is embedded, the more capacity the stego image increases. Actually, they are closely related. Until now, there are many literatures to discuss the secret data how to be embedded into the media image and keeps the original capacity as soon as possible. In this paper, a reversible data hiding scheme based on EMD data hiding and JPEG (Joint Picture Experts Group) compression technology will be proposed. According to experimental results, the authors can prove that our proposed scheme maintains high embedding capacity, security and good compression ratio.

There are two methods for detecting videos illegally recorded in theaters. One uses digital watermarks to identify on what dates and in what theaters such videos were recorded. The other method uses infrared light, which degrades such videos by using the difference between human and device sensitivities. However, neither method detects the act of recording a video. Therefore, these methods are not the best to prevent movies from being illegally recorded. Our previously proposed method uses reflected infrared light to identify places where surreptitious filming takes place (in this paper, we call a camera used for surreptitious filming a surreptitious filming camera (SFC)). This method focuses infrared light on places where surreptitious filming takes place and disrupts it. In addition, this method distinguishes camera lenses from other lenses, such as those for eyeglasses, to analyze the RGB of reflected infrared light. However, this method cannot capture reflected infrared light depending on a SFC's location and direction. As a result, we propose using a moving infrared detection camera (IDC) to solve these problems and a method for more effectively detecting reflected infrared light.

We investigated the effect of electrode type and stimulation condition (voltage stimulation and current stimulation) in bi-polar subdural cortical stimulation (SCS). For this study, we developed a 3D realistic head model using MRI data with 1 mm3 spatial resolution and simulated the model using the finite element method (FEM). For each study, we used three types of electrodes - disc, ring, and covered-disc - and three efficiency measures - effective depth of penetration, effective volume, and amount of CSF leakage current - to compare the effectiveness of the stimulation between two stimulation conditions. With voltage stimulation, there was no difference in effectiveness between the disc and ring electrodes. However, the amount of CSF leakage current for the covered-disc type was lower than that for the others. The effective depth of penetration and volume for the ring and disc type electrodes were higher than those for the covered-disc type. The current stimulation using the covered-disc electrode penetrated deeper than the other types of electrodes, and the CSF leakage current was still low. The result for voltage and current stimulation was quite different, as the substrate design manipulated the impedance and output current. In the current simulation, if the electrode was covered with the substrate, more current flowed to the cortex. On the other hand, with voltage stimulation, this substrate design makes the impedance between electrodes high, and the total current is reduced.

In this paper,gait recognition using Gait Energy Image(GEI) and pattern trace transform,is presented for human *** first step,gait recognition using GEI and pattern trace transform,used silhouette *** gait period could be estimated by computing the median of the walking-step width of the three consecutive ***,we calculated the Gait Energy Images from the *** was transformed to a trace transform *** pattern trace transform images were calculated using a threshold from the trace transform image to develop the pattern trace transform,which was a significant ***,we used template matching for *** results of gait recognition using GEI and pattern trace transform show that the proposed technique is quite effective and can be developed for higher performance.

Water scarcity and drought in WANA countries

Water Security was a central theme of WANA Forum 2010, where regional experts warned that the wars of the 21st century will be fought over water. Climate change will only exacerbate problems in a region already stressed by lack of water, food and political and social unrest. Across the Arc of Crisis, from Somalia, Sudan and Egypt in Africa to Yemen, Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in West Asia, water scarcity in the region has already lead to drought and famine, loss of livelihood, the spread of water-borne diseases, forced migrations and open conflict. Water scarcity is closely linked to food and health security, making better water management a key stepping stone for poverty reduction and economic growth. If nothing changes, most of the WANA countries will encounter, in less than a generation, serious problems in managing inland freshwater, the availability of which, in sufficient quantity and quality, may become, as it is already the case in several of these countries, a main challenge for economic and social development. Wastage and pollution will then be such that « water stress » will affect, in a way or another, most of the populations of WANA countries and the poorest first of all. The effects of global warming will increase current trends. On the other hand, water scarcity in the WANA region is an issue of growing concern. With heavy demand from agriculture, growing populations and virtually no remaining untapped water sources, the need to establish water-management strategies in the region is of vital importance. WANA countries can be divided into three major agro-ecologies, each facing slightly different challenges. Rain-fed areas are dependent on a low and extremely variable rainfall, resulting in minimal yields, a problem exacerbated by frequent drought. Rainfall occurs in the form of intense and unpredictable storms, and as a result, the crusting soils are unable to absorb the moisture, which rapidly becomes lost through evaporation or runoff.
