On Efficient Processing of Queries for Live Multi-Streaming Soiree Organization

Real-time social interactions and multi-streaming are two critical features of live streaming services. In this paper, we formulate a new fundamental service query, Social-aware Diverse and Preferred Organization Query (SDSQ), that jointly selects a set of diverse and preferred live streaming channels and a group of socially tight viewers for organization of a live multi-streaming soiree. We prove that SDSQ is NP-hard and inapproximable within any factor, and design SDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm with a guaranteed error bound. Moreover, we study SDSQ-T, a special case of SDSQ, where the social graph is a threshold graph, and propose TDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm without any error to SDSQ-T. We propose two pruning strategies, PCP and CDP to boost SDSSel and TDSSel. We further propose a more challenging but practical service query, Generalized Social-aware Maximum Preferred and Diverse Query (GSPQ), a generalization of SDSQ. We design GPDSel, a 4-approximation algorithm for GSPQ with a guaranteed error bound. We propose a strategy to improve the approximation ratios of the proposed algorithms. A user study on Twitch validates SDSQ, and the large-scale experiments on real datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithms over several baselines for live-streaming services. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Human–computer interaction (HCI) focuses on designing efficient and intuitive interactions between humans and computer systems. Recent advancements have utilized multimodal approaches, such as electroencephalography (EEG)-based systems combined with other biosignals, along with deep learning to enhance performance and reliability. However, no systematic review has consolidated findings on EEG-based multimodal HCI systems. This review examined 124 studies published from 2016 to 2024, retrieved from the Web of Science database, focusing on hybrid EEG-based multimodal HCI systems employing deep learning. The keywords used for evaluation were as follows: ‘Deep Learning’ AND ‘EEG’ AND (‘fNIRS’ OR ‘NIRS’ OR ‘MEG’ OR ‘fMRI’ OR ‘EOG’ OR ‘EMG’ OR ‘ECG’ OR ‘PPG’ OR ‘GSR’). Main topics explored are: (1) types of biosignals used with EEG, (2) neural network architectures, (3) fusion strategies, (4) system performance, and (5) target applications. Frequently paired signals, such as EOG, EMG, and fNIRS, effectively complement EEG by addressing its limitations. Convolutional neural networks are extensively employed for spatio-temporal-spectral feature extraction, with early and intermediate fusion strategies being the most commonly used. Applications, such as sleep stage classification, emotion recognition, and mental state decoding, have shown notable performance improvements. Despite these advancements, challenges remain, including the lack of real-time online systems, difficulties in signal synchronization, limited data availability, and insufficient explainable AI (XAI) methods to interpret signal interactions. Emerging solutions, such as portable systems, lightweight deep learning models, and data augmentation techniques, offer promising pathways to address these issues. A vehicle has a license plate and can be identified by the license number attached to the vehicle plate. For detection and recognition, multimedia sensors can be used so that it requires a vehicle tracking application that has a vehicle monitoring function and has implications for various fields. One of them is a multimedia sensor that requires an optimal design and method in the form of the number of multimedia sensors to be used, the placement of the multimedia sensor positions and solutions in the event of a system failure. To achieve multimedia sensor performance, research on multimedia sensors is carried out using a camera type with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology which is similar to a pair of right and left eyes to see an object. The objects detected were 2 cars, where the car passed the camera sensor at a speed of 10-15 km/hour 20 times. Changes in the distance of the vehicle to the camera affect the disparity value and the object's accuracy value, namely and the object's Accuracy value of the minimum disparity value of 6.20×106 of 16.88×109. © 2022 ACM.

In the high-performance computing domain, Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is a novel accelerator that exhibits high flexibility and performance characteristics distinct from other accelerators such as the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). Recent advanced high-end FPGA is equipped with multiple channels of high speed optical link up to 100Gbps performance for each. This is a crucial feature when we construct PC clusters with FPGAs as accelerators, however it is not easy to utilize from user kernels because this feature is implemented in low level and simple direct communication between neighboring FPGAs. In order to provide the communication feature between FPGAs for accelerated PC clusters, we developed a communication system named CIRCUS which implies a user-friendly API from OpenCL and is equipped with routing function over multi-hop communication on multi-dimensional torus network of FPGAs. However, current CIRCUS only provides a point-to-point communication between source and destination FPGAs. In ordinary parallel processing environment such as MPI, the user program the message passing with various collective communication functions for parallel algorithm, for instance Allreduce, Allgather, etc. In this paper, we implement the collective communication function over CIRCUS for user-friendly programming of ordinary parallel algorithms on FPGAs. As the first target, we implement Allreduce function which is the most essential and important function. The paper describes the CIRCUS system briefly followed by the design, implementation and preliminary performance evaluation on Intel Stratix10 FPGAs. © 2023 ACM.

This study is related to a system that enables elderly people to communicate interactively with young people who use existing message exchange services by simply speaking to an avatar on a tablet PC, without having to perform complicated operations of the tablet PC. On the other hand, the young people side can bring in elderly people who could not previously participate in existing message exchange services groups. The effectiveness of the system was verified through demonstration experiments with two households consisting of elderly people in their 80s. © 2022 IEEE.

A vast number of spatiotemporal datasets collected from a wide range of sources has motivated scientists to develop effective approaches to identify interesting patterns hidden in these datasets. In this respect, kernel density estimators, which belong to a class of non-parametric estimators in statistics, have been widely exploited in recent years. With this background, we have developed a novel kernel density estimator aiming to provide accurate analysis results. According to the evaluation with a real spatiotemporal dataset, which collected emergency medical service records in a county in the United States, the proposed kernel density estimator can approximate the probability density function significantly more accurately than a conventional kernel density estimator. Furthermore, we have exploited the proposed kernel density estimator to identify interesting patterns hidden in the real spatiotemporal dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is a transformative technology using the passive beamforming capabilities to create the programmable wireless environments. However, the control overhead is a challenging issue. The system needs to deliver the high-precision reflection coefficients to the RIS controller, for adjusting the phase shifts of the numerous RIS elements. Therefore, we propose a Spirograph-based discrete beamdirection strategy, which selects a set of non-uniformly distributed beam directions based on the generic patterns generated by the Spirograph (SG). We evaluate the achievable data rate and the number of controlling bits of SG-based method. We compare the SG-based method, the ideal continuous phase-shift method, and the SISO method. Simulation results show that with the properly-selected discrete beam directions, the SG-based method can achieve a comparable data rate as the ideal method, while having a lower control overhead. © 2024 IEEE.

Speech content is closely related to the stability of speaker embeddings in speaker verification tasks. In this paper, we propose a novel architecture based on self-constraint learning (SCL) and reconstruction task (RT) to remove the influence of phonetic information on speaker embedding generation. First, SCL is used to reduce the divergence of frame-level features, which can avoid ambiguity between the resulting embeddings of the two utterances being compared. Second, RT is used to further remove phonetic information in frame-level layers, focusing on speaker-discriminative feature transformation. In our experiments, the speaker embedding models were trained on the VoxCeleb2 dataset and evaluated on the VoxCeleb1, Librispeech, SITW and VoxMovies datasets. Experimental results on VoxCeleb1 show that the proposed DROP-TDNN system reduced the EER by 7.5%, compared to the state-of-the-art ECAPA-TDNN system. Furthermore, the proposed DROP-TDNN system also outperformed the ECAPA-TDNN system in the experiments on SITW, Librispeech and VoxMovies under cross-dataset conditions. In the experiments on SITW, the proposed system reduced the EER by 3.4% compared to the ECAPA-TDNN system. In the experiments on Librispeech, the proposed system demonstrated the advantage of removing phonetic information under the clean speech condition, with a significant reduction of 25.5% in EER compared to the ECAPA-TDNN system. In the experiments on VoxMovies, the proposed system reduced the EER by up to 7.9% compared to the ECAPA-TDNN system under different pronunciation and background conditions. © 2014 IEEE.

In this study, it is aimed to estimate the probability of a customer who comes to the institution for the first time to make a transaction in the next 3 months, using data-driven machine learning models, in order to provide financing to the seller company by assigning the receivables arising from the sale of goods and services in a company actively operating in the factoring sector. Accordingly, it was aimed to directly contribute to the transaction volume on a business basis by acting and taking action with more effective, efficient and correct approaches by finding high-potential and low-potential customers. In this context, provided by KKB (Credit Registration Bureau);The data set to he used in machine learning models was created with feature engineering and exploratory data analysis, using the Risk, Mersis, GIB information of the prospective customers and the historical information of the customers, check issuers, customer representatives and branches kept in the database. Since the leads coming to the institution are in two different types of organizations (Individual and Legal), two different forecasting models were applied. Multiple classification models were tried, and the highest F1-Score of 86% for private companies was obtained with the Random Forest model, and the highest F1- Score for commercial companies was obtained with the Random Forest model with 82%. © 2022 IEEE.

In recent years, making computers understand the emotions of users is necessary because emotions are an important factor in human communication. Among many methods of recognizing emotions, EEG is widely used because it has high temporal resolution and it is impossible to disguise intentionally. However, it is necessary to acquire new user data and construct the personal Emotion recognition model since EEG varies widely among individuals. The conventional methods lack practicality because it builds a different model for every new user data. Our method builds a model in a single training using new user data. To reduce the number of new user data for training and to relieve the burden of EEG measurement, we adapt existing user data. We absorb the individual differences in EEG between a new user and existing users by domain adaptation using a small number of new user data and construct a model by deep neural networks. From the experiments, we confirmed that the proposed method performs as well as the conventional methods, even though it is built with single training using new user data. © 2022 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
