作者: LIGHT, SP The Authoris currently the director Logistics and Material Division Security Assistance Program Management Office (PMS 380) in the Surface Combatants Directorate (SEA 91) Naval Sea Systems Command. He received his BS degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology his MS degree in systems management from the University of Southern California and he is a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College. He is also certified as a member of the NavSea's Civilian Material Professional Career Program. Among his previous employments Mr. Light has held engineering and logistics management positions with the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in the Naval Engineering Division the Naval Ship Systems Command Engineering Interface Management Office and the Naval Ship Engineering Center where he served as manager of integrated logistics support for the FFG-7 Ship Design Project Office. He also served as the ILS manager for the CG-47 and DDG-51 ship programs during the design phases of these programs. Mr. Light was also the director of the Acquisition and Logistics Office for Surface Combatants (SEA 91) between 1984 to 1991. Mr. Light has twenty-eight years of experience in surface ship design acquisition maintenance and logistics.

He worked as a Designer in the Engineering Technical Department of Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. and he sailed with a number of U.S. flag companies as an Engineering Officer. He joined the Maritime Administration in 1967 and is currently the Assistant for Program Development and Control in the Office of Research and Development. He is a member of ASNE and SNAME. Mr. Ron Corkrey:received B.B.A and M.B.A degrees from the Golden Gate University and was later a guest lecturer there and at other universities. From 1955 to 1969 he held various positions with the Matson Navigation Company ranging from Systems Analyst to Pier Superintendent. From 1969 to 1971 he was the Northern California District Manager for Signal Trucking Service Ltd. He joined the Maritime Administration in 1971 as a Transportation Specialist in the Western Region Office and he is now in Washington D. C. as Program Manager for Cargo Systems R&D. He is a member of the SNAME D31 (Cargo Handling) Panel. Mr. Larry Benen:received his B.S. degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a M.S. degree from George Washington University. He is a graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF). He has been employed as a research program manager for the Naval Sea Systems Command since 1967 in the areas of Hydromotions and Logistics. He is presently the Program Manager for the Merchant Ship Naval Augmentation Program Exploratory Logistics Experimental Ships and Strategic Sealift Procurement Program.

Knachelreceived his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio State University in 1959 a B.S. in business administration from the University of Texas in 1963 and his M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1971. He served as a Navy line and Supply Corps officer for over twenty years. Prior to his retirement he served as the first U.S. Navy Supply Corps program manager for the Saudi Naval Expansion Program. Following retirement in 1981 he managed a series of U.S. Navy and foreign military sales logistics support programs for CACI Inc. Since 1988 he has been employed as a logistics program manager by Systems Engineering Associates (SEACOR) a division of Day and Zimmermann Inc. He currently serves as Washington area operations manager for SEACOR. Mr. Knachel is a member of ASNE and SOLE. William F. Magroganreceived his B.S. degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1964 an M.B.A. degree from Stanford University in 1972 and his master's degree in American studies from the California State University at Fullerton in 1987. He served on active duty as a U.S. Navy Supply Corps officer from 1964 to 1977 and continues to serve in the Naval Reserves where he has achieved the rank of captain. He has been employed as a financial/logistics analyst and program manager for EG&G Inc. Rockwell International and Unisys Corporation. Harrahy has eleven years of engineering experience of which the past six years have been specifically in reliability/maintainability engineering or related product assurance activities in a managerial capacity. After five years as an equipment engineer at Western Electric Mr. Harrahy joined Raytheon in 1962 as a reliability engineer and group head and in January 1966 was appointed Product Assurance Manager of the Nike-X programs at Raytheon's Wayland Laboratory. In February 1967 he was appointed to his present position of Manager System Reliability/Maintainability Engineering at Wayland. Mr. Harrahy has had considerable experience in applying system reliability analysis and operations research techniques to the solution of system design and design tradeoff problems. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from Lowell Technological Institute and Northeastern University respectively. He currently teaches a two-course series in System Reliability Engineering Techniques as a part of Northeastern University's Professional State-Of-The-Art course program for engineers in their Center for Continuing Education. A registered professional engineer in the state of Massachusetts Mr. Harrahy is the co-author of the papers “Effects of Failure on Phased Array Radar Systems” and “Inventory Control Models for Logistics Planning and Operational Readiness with Cost Constraints.” He is a member of NSPE ASME and IEEE. Mr. Harrahy is co-chairman of the Boston Section IEEE Reliability Group's Education Committee and has organized and lectured in courses on reliability and maintainability engineering sponsored by the Boston Section IEEE. Robert Ingram Powell was born in San Diego California on 24 August 1923. He served with Naval Communications Intelligence OP-20-G during World War II and as an officer with Army Security Agency Intelligence Branch during the Korean War. Stark USN (Ret.):graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1942 and subsequently was ordered to graduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from which he received his M.S. degree in 1948. He retired after twenty-six years of service as a Naval Engineering Specialist. In 1972 he joined Gibbs & Cox Inc. where he has been continuously associated with the FFG 7 design being assigned as the Gibbs & Cox Project Manager since 1973. In 1979 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Vice President. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of New York and besides ASNE which he joined in 1962 is a member of the SNAME Council and the societies of Sigma Xi and Tau Beta Pi. Capt. David M. Stembel Jr. USN: graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1955 and subsequently attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology from which he received his M.S. and Naval Engineer degrees in 1961. His assignments afloat have included Electrical Officer USS Forrestal (CVA-59) from 1955 to 1958 Engineer Officer USS Dewey (DLG-14) from 1963 to 1965 Assistant SIXTH Fleet Maintenance Officer from 1965 to 1967 and Engineer Officer USS America (CVA-66) from 1970 to 1972. Since 1972 he has been assigned to the Naval Sea Systems Command where he has served as Deputy Project Manager 1200 psi Steam Propulsion Plant Improvement Program Ship Logistic Manager Escort/Cruiser Ship Logistics Division and since 1979 in his current assignment as Project Manager Guided Missile Frigate (FFG 7) Ship Acquisition Project. In addition to ASNE which he joined in 1973 he is a member of Tau Beta Pi.
