Effective planning of the broiler chicken production chain heavily relies on a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing growth and final carcass weight. The broiler chicken supply chain includes various stages, from breeders to retailers. This study analyzes the impact of growth uncertainty in broiler chickens by considering aspects of maintenance management, feed consumption, mortality rates, productivity, and market demand scenarios. The research method uses a two-stage stochastic program and Mixed Integer Linear programming (MILP) to optimize lot-sizing and lot-allocation in the broiler chicken supply chain planning. MILP is applied to maximize the efficiency and responsiveness of lot-sizing and lot-allocation to market demand. Two-stage stochastic modeling allows for the separation of long-term and short-term decisions, enabling adjustments based on uncertain conditions. By simulating various production scenarios, potential issues and improvement opportunities within the supply chain can be identified. Production data is analyzed to ensure that the size and weight of broiler chickens meet market specifications and demands, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The implementation of an integrated broiler chicken supply chain is believed to improve production and distribution efficiency, enabling the fulfillment of market demand at optimal costs. By ensuring this alignment, the research contributes to increased customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Meeting market specifications not only improves product quality but also strengthens the company's competitive position in the market. Higher operational efficiency is also achieved through more effective reductions in production and distribution costs. © 2024 IEEE.

Faced with the complexities of managing natural gas-dependent power system amid the surge of renewable integration and load unpredictability, this study explores strategies for navigating emergency transitions to costlier secondary fuels. Our aim is to develop decision-support tools for operators during such exigencies. We approach the problem through a Markov Decision Process (MDP) framework, accounting for multiple uncertainties. These include the potential for dual-fuel generator failures and operator response during high-pressure situations. Additionally, we consider the finite reserves of primary fuel, governed by gas-flow partial differential equations (PDEs) and constrained by nodal pressure. Other factors include the variability in power forecasts due to renewable generation and the economic impact of compulsory load shedding. For tractability, we address the MDP in a simplified context, replacing it by Markov Processes evaluated against a selection of policies and scenarios for comparison. Our study considers two models for the natural gas system: an oversimplified model tracking linepack and a more nuanced model that accounts for gas flow network heterogeneity. The efficacy of our methods is demonstrated using a realistic model replicating Israel's power-gas infrastructure. © 2024 IEEE.

One strategy for emission reduction in Indonesia is the dedieselization program, replacing diesel power plants with renewables. Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) type Small Modular Reactor (SMR) is also a consideration. This study aims to compare fuel performance in SMRs. Four fuel types with varying fissile and fertile nuclides but equal fissile mass percentages were assessed: U235- U238, U235-Th232, U233-U238, and U233-Th232, using PIJ SRAC 2006 and JENDL 4.0. Parameters include neutron multiplication factor, conversion ratio, and isotope production. Results indicated that U233-U238 has a highest initial neutron multiplication factor, 1.55. Substituting uranium-238 with thorium-232 boosts neutron flux and conversion, reducing nuclear proliferation risk. While initial neutron multiplication may not be highest, thorium-232 can produce uranium-233 with high initial neutron multiplication factor. This research aids fuel selection for Indonesia SMR dedieselization program. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In a previous article, we constructed a link invariant categorifying the Jones polynomial at a 2p^th root of unity, where p is an odd prime. This categorification utilized an N = 2 specialization of a differential introduced by Cautis in an sl_N –link homology theory. Here we give a family of link homologies where the Cautis differential is specialized to a positive integer of the form N = kp + 2. When k is even, all these link homologies categorify the Jones polynomial evaluated at a 2p^th root of unity, but they are distinct link invariants. © 2023 MSP (Mathematical Sciences Publishers).

For multivariate models, one of the important properties of a variable selection criterion is consistency, whereby the probability of selecting the true subset of explanatory variables approaches 1 as the sample size goes to infinity. However, in cases of high-dimensionality, the BIC, which is expected to be consistent under large-sample asymptotic theory, may not be consistent, and the AIC, which is said to be inconsistent under the same large-sample asymptotic theory, may be consistent. In this paper, we propose a high-dimensionality-adjusted consistent AIC called the HCAIC, which is an adjusted version of the consistent AIC proposed by Bozdogan (1987) regarding the effect of high-dimensionality through an asymptotic theory whereby the dimension of the vector of response variables allows both an increasing and a fixed condition as sample size increases. Through a series of numerical experiments, we verify that the proposed HCAIC is a high-performance information criterion in the sense that it can select the true subset of explanatory variables with high probability for any dimensionality. © 2024 The Authors.

A risk function based on the standardized mean squared error of prediction is widely used for measuring the goodness of a model. However, using the risk function directly for model selection is generally not possible due to its inclusion of unknown parameters. The Cp criterion is an asymptotic unbiased estimator of the risk function that has been commonly used in place of the risk function for model selection. Because the Cp criterion can have a non-negligible bias against the risk function when the sample size is small, a modified Cp criterion that completely corrects this bias was proposed by Fujikoshi and Satoh (1997) in a multivariate linear regression model. In this paper, we propose a modified Cp criterion for common univariate models that generalize previous studies, i.e., the models in which the predicted response variables are defined as the product of a hat matrix and a vector of response variables. © 2024 The Authors.

Stated Skein Theory and Double Affine Hecke Algebra Representations

In this thesis, we explore the representation theory of double affine Hecke algebras (DAHAs) through the lens of stated skein theory. Over the past decade, there have been several works establishing robust connections between skein algebras and DAHAs. Particularly, Samuelson proved that a spherical subalgebra of the type A1 DAHA can be realized as a quotient of the Kauffman bracket skein algebra of the torus with boundary, Kq(T 2 \ D2). Since the A1 double affine Hecke algebra is Morita equivalent to its spherical subalgebra, discovering modules for Kq(T 2 \ D2) immediately provides us with modules for the A1 DAHA. Stated skein theory enhances traditional Kauffman bracket skein theory by incorporating the boundary components of manifolds, thereby offering additional properties such as excision that enrich the algebraic structure. Furthermore, Kauffman bracket skein algebras embed into their stated counterparts, showing that stated skein algebras are extensions of Kauffman bracket skein algebras. We use this extended framework to further develop the representation theory of the A1 DAHA. After identifying generators for the stated skein algebra of T 2 \ D2, we embed this algebra into a quantum 6-torus and leverage the nice representation-theoretic properties of quantum tori to construct a module of Laurent polynomials. Additionally, as T 2 is the boundary of any knot complement, we discuss how to construct a more topologically-defined module from various knots and provide an explicit example for the unknot. This approach builds upon the ideas of Berest and Samuelson, who showed that there exists a natural DAHA action on the Kauffman bracket skein module of knot complements. © 2025, CC BY.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide, underscoring the need for early and precise diagnosis to enhance patient outcomes. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising tool for stroke diagnosis, offering the potential to significantly improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. This paper reviews recent AI-based methods for stroke diagnosis, focusing on available datasets with various modalities and the AI techniques employed. We analyze the limitations of existing approaches, including data and model biases, lack of generalizability, and transparency issues. We then propose future directions for AI in stroke diagnosis, aiming to address these identified gaps, including the development of more robust and adaptable models, and improved data integration strategies. Finally, we emphasize the importance of ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks to ensure the responsible implementation of AI in this critical field. A GitHub repository is created to include recent codes and platforms that are available for stroke diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.

Preacher assignments to mosques in Kampar Regency have often been inefficient due to geographical distance and compatibility issues, limiting effective religious outreach. This study aims to optimize preacher assignments by applying the Divisive Hierarchical Clustering (DHC) algorithm. Analysis was conducted on a dataset of 250 records, clustering preachers and mosques based on geographical proximity and relevant attributes. Initial clustering modelling produced the highest silhouette score of 0.336. Dimensionality reduction using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) significantly improved the silhouette score to 0.8197, reflecting enhanced clustering quality. The elbow method validated eight clusters as optimal, with a value of 292.33. Research findings demonstrate that preachers can be effectively placed in geographically closer mosques aligned with their profiles, reducing inefficiencies. Business intelligence techniques visualized the clustering results, providing decision-makers with insights into geographical distribution and facilitating improved assignment strategies. These findings hold substantial implications for optimizing religious outreach in Kampar by minimizing logistical challenges and increasing engagement effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE.
