This working-in-progress paper aims to present a three-dimensional reconstruction using aerial images in different environments. The experiments were conducted with aircraft in both external and internal settings, starting with image acquisition, followed by the application of specific photogrammetry software—both commercial and open-source—and concluding with a qualitative evaluation of the results.

Double diffusion structure of logarithmically damped wave equations with a small parameter

We consider a wave equation with a nonlocal logarithmic damping depending on a small parameter 0 1/2. We study the Cauchy problem for this model in Rnto the case θ ∈ (0, 1/2), and we obtain an asymptotic profile and optimal estimates in time of solutions as t → ∞ in L2-sense. An important discovery in this research is that in the case when n = 1, we can present a threshold θ∗= 1/4 of the parameter θ ∈ (0, 1/2) such that the solution of the Cauchy problem decays with some optimal rate for θ ∈ (0,θ∗) as t → ∞, while the L2-norm of the corresponding solution never decays for θ ∈ [θ∗, 1/2), and in particular, in the case θ ∈ [θ∗, 1/2) it shows an infinite time L2-blow up of the corresponding solutions. The former (i.e., θ ∈ (0, θ∗) case) indicates an usual diffusion phenomenon, while the latter (i.e., θ ∈ [θ∗, 1/2) case) implies, so to speak, a singular diffusion phenomenon. Such a singular diffusion in the one dimensional case is a quite novel phenomenon discovered through our new model produced by logarithmic damping with a small parameter θ. Magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) are suitable candidates for various medical and biological applications, despite some concerns that they may have negative impacts on human health. In this study, the toxicity effects of magnetic NPs consisting of α”-Fe16N2captured and bioaccumulated by the nematodeCaenorhabditis elegans(C. elegans) in the early larval stage are evaluated. The choice of α”-Fe16N2NPs is based on their good structural stability when stored in saline solution and high magnetic performance. The uptake and bioaccumulation of α”-Fe16N2NPs in intestinal cells ofC. eleganswas evidenced by transmission electron microscopy. After exposure to NPs up to 40 mg mL−1,C. eleganslarval development, survival, feeding behavior, defecation cycles, movement and reproduction were monitored.C. eleganssurvival and other monitored behavioral evolutions do not show significant changes, except for a slight statistical reduction in the reproductive profile. Therefore, the present results are promising and very encouraging for investigations of applications of α”-Fe16N2NPs in the biomedical area.

Using the Subaru/FOCAS IFU capability, we examine the spatially resolved relationships between gas-phase metallicity, stellar mass, and star-formation rate surface densities (Σ★ and ΣSFR, respectively) in extremely metal-poor galaxies (EMPGs) in the local universe. Our analysis includes 24 EMPGs, comprising 9,177 spaxels, which span a unique parameter space of local metallicity (12 + log(O/H) 6.9 to 7.9) and stellar mass surface density (Σ★ ∼ 105 to 107 Mo kpc−2), extending beyond the range of existing large integral-field spectroscopic surveys. Through spatially resolved emission line diagnostics based on the [N ii] BPT-diagram, we verify the absence of evolved active galactic nuclei in these EMPGs. Our findings reveal that, while the resolved mass-metallicity relation exhibits significant scatter in the low-mass regime, this scatter is closely correlated with local star-formation surface density. Specifically, metallicity decreases as ΣSFR increases for a given Σ★. Notably, half of the EMPGs show a distinct metal-poor horizontal branch on the resolved mass-metallicity relation. This feature typically appears at the peak clump with the highest Σ★ and ΣSFR and is surrounded by a relatively metal-enriched ambient region. These findings support a scenario in which metal-poor gas infall fuels episodic star formation in EMPGs, consistent with the kinematic properties observed in these systems. In addition, we identify four EMPGs with exceptionally low central metallicities (12 + log(O/H) 7.2), which display only a metal-poor clump without a surrounding metal-rich region. This suggests that such ultra-low metallicity EMPGs, at less than a few percent of the solar metallicity, may serve as valuable analogs for galaxies in the early stages of galaxy evolution. We provide evidence for partial deconfinement - the deconfinement of a SU(M) subgroup of the SU(N) gauge group - by using lattice Monte Carlo simulations. We take matrix models as concrete examples. By appropriately fixing the gauge, we observe that the M×M submatrices deconfine. This gives direct evidence for partial deconfinement at strong coupling. In this paper, we present the structure and the dynamics of highly charged heavy ions studied through dielectronic recombination (DR) observations performed with the Tokyo electron beam ion trap. By measuring the energy dependence of the ion abundance ratio in the trap at equilibrium, we have observed DR processes for open shell systems very clearly. Remarkable relativistic effects due to the generalized Breit interaction have been clearly shown in DR for highly charged heavy ions. We also present the first result for the coincidence measurement of two photons emitted from a single DR event. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.

The aim of this work is the development of a numerical technique for the reduction of reaction mechanisms of common hydrocarbon and oxygenated fuels, such as methane, ethylene, propane, methanol and ethanol, using steady‐state and partial equilibrium assumptions. Numerical tests are carried to establish the basic chain for each fuel as well as to determine the amount of small products of combustion, whose concentration depends on the turbulent mixing and needs to be controlled due to environmental restrictions. The results are in agreement with data in the literature.

Asymmetric profiles have been observed in the recombination cross section of Be-like Bi obtained by measuring the electron energy dependence of the ion abundance ratio in an electron-beam ion trap. In contrast to the previous x-ray measurements, the present measurement gives the integrated recombination cross section with higher statistical quality, which provides a benchmark to test the relativistic theory involving the interference between the resonant and continuum states. The comparison with our theoretical study shows that the Breit interaction plays an important role in this case.
