This research develops a conceptual model to understand the influence of digitalization on social learning, especially in the context of community empowerment. This model maps the relationship between factors that influence success, challenges faced, and variations in the use of digital platforms in social learning. By using a literature study approach, the research results show that effective communication, collaboration and empowerment are the main keys to the success of social learning in society. Key challenges identified include limited access to information, resource constraints, and digital literacy barriers, all of which require specific strategies to overcome. By examining the relationship between success factors, challenges, and use of digital platforms, this research provides new insights that support the development of more effective strategies for using digital technology to support social learning that leads to community empowerment. This research has great potential to increase people's access to learning opportunities and information, allowing them to be more active in the social learning process. © 2024 IEEE.

Transformer models, originally successful in natural language processing, are now being applied to chemical and biological studies, excelling in areas such as molecular property prediction, material science, and drug discovery. BERT, a Transformer-based model, has become foundational in cheminformatics, particularly for QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship) modeling and ADMET (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity) evaluations in drug discovery. However, achieving higher accuracy often requires designing more complex models, which can compromise their interpretability. This posing a challenge for researchers who need to understand the reasoning behind the predictions. The trade-off between accuracy and interpretability presents a critical challenge in applying black box models to real-world problems in cheminformatics. This work compares Transformer-based models with traditional machine learning and deep learning approaches, focusing on both interpretability and performance. The goal is to highlight the strengths and limitations of each method, offering insights into their optimal use in drug discovery and material science.

The box office (BO) income had significantly declined up to 80% in 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic emerged. To minimize further financial risks, multiplex (multiple cinema complexes) owners need to analyze their potential income for each movie, each week. Therefore, we developed a proper data mining strategy that allows multiplex owners to analyze and discover insights on how successfully produced movies could be. The methodology comprises (1) data loading and exploration, (2) data cleaning, (3) data selection, integration, and transformation using Pentaho, (4) data mining in which the results were stored in the MySQL database, and (5) pattern evaluation and presentation using Qlik Sense as the Business Intelligence (BI) dashboard. Based on our data mining methodology, we revealed that drama, comedy, action, and thriller are favorite genres. We also found that DreamWorks Animation and Pixar Animation Studios are both the most popular production houses, even Apatow Productions and Escape Artists still have the biggest revenue on average.

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mental states ranging from manic highs to depressive lows. Early intervention is crucial to prevent progression and complications of bipolar disorder, which can lead to significant loss. This study proposes a framework to detect bipolar disorder based on crowdsourced symptoms in the form of free texts. We extract the features by transforming these free-text symptoms into binary features using a set of natural language processing techniques. We build support vector machine models with different kernel functions and penalized logistic regression models with different penalty functions, where the best models have a precision of 0.7, recall of 0.78, F1 score of 0.74, and accuracy of 0.88. Moreover, the models are explainable since we incorporate a model-agnostic explanation method called Shapley additive explanations to understand the symptoms that mostly contributed to the prediction of bipolar disorder. The models presented in this study can be implemented in the initial screening process of bipolar disorder for further examination. © 2024 The Authors.

The projected increase in PayLater utilization reaches up to five million people by 2025. To optimize the yearly profit from their PayLater service, fintech companies must examine all possible risks before a unanimous decision is taken. Therefore, we proposed a unified decision framework derived from decision theory and the Monte Carlo simulation technique. Two schemes were coined: (1) a decision-making scheme, and (2) a risk simulation scheme. Throughout experiments, the framework was able to estimate several alternative decisions and their impacts, analyze the causes of failure and delays in the development of the PayLater service, and execute Monte Carlo simulations in up to 10,000 trials. Outputs of this study will benefit decision-makers in the fintech initiative before launching their PayLater products.

Electronic government, or e-Government, is the use of information and communication technology by the public sector (ICT). Additionally, it can be viewed as a paradigm shift in terms of how governments operate. The government protects public values, while citizens act as problem solvers, co-creators, and active participants in value creation. On the other hand, decentralized systems have grown in popularity over the last few years. Data has become a significant issue in decentralized E-Government;each local entity has their own data, which is private. A suitable data governance tool is required to ensure that data governance is properly implemented and to prevent the organizational entity from leaking information. Sentiment analysis is widely used as a tool to find valuable insight from texts without explicitly expressed. Lots of techniques have already been used to get it but there still have shortcomings in data source or the model strategy itself. Indonesian language approximately has 199 million speakers across the world where 44 million speakers natively. Even with that great number, the resources for the Indonesian language's natural language processing are still limited, and hard to find the perfect way to define sentiment analysis in the Indonesian language. The state-of-the-art sentiment analysis method uses LSTM on a small corpus while the best in town is Transformer where it's easy to transfer learning from the Transformer pre-trained model into specific tasks. From this potential, combining the Transformer pre-trained model with LSTM can be an innovative strategy. This research compared the hybrid model of Transformer-LSTM build using three Indonesian languages’ Transformer-based pre-trained model on sentiment analysis task which can surpass the Transformer model with the highest increased 2.40% accuracy and 3.02% on F1 score.

NONDETERMINISTIC STACKS IN NEURAL NETWORKS

Human language is full of compositional syntactic structures, and although neural networks have contributed to groundbreaking improvements in computer systems that process language, widely-used neural network architectures still exhibit limitations in their ability to process syntax. To address this issue, prior work has proposed adding stack data structures to neural networks, drawing inspiration from theoretical connections between syntax and stacks. However, these methods employ deterministic stacks that are designed to track one parse at a time, whereas syntactic ambiguity, which requires a nondeterministic stack to parse, is extremely common in language. In this dissertation, we remedy this discrepancy by proposing a method of incorporating nondeterministic stacks into neural networks. We develop a differentiable data structure that efficiently simulates a nondeterministic pushdown automaton, representing an exponential number of computations with a dynamic programming algorithm. Since it is differentiable end-to-end, it can be trained jointly with other neural network components using standard backpropagation and gradient descent. We incorporate this module into two predominant architectures: recurrent neural networks (RNNs) and transformers. We show that this raises their formal recognition power to arbitrary context-free languages, and also aids training, even on deterministic context-free languages. Empirically, neural networks with nondeterministic stacks learn context-free languages much more effectively than prior stack-augmented models, including a language with theoretically maximal parsing difficulty. We also show that an RNN augmented with a nondeterministic stack is capable of surprisingly powerful behavior, such as learning cross-serial dependencies, a well-known non-context-free pattern. In today's environment, financial knowledge is vital and should be possessed by everyone. Numerous people are financially disadvantaged as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This serves as a reminder of the critical nature of financial investment in the future. However, many Indonesians, particularly students, are still unfamiliar with capital market investing. In reality, investing in the stock market can provide a variety of benefits, including financial security, capital appreciation, and passive income. Financial literacy concerns can result in a lack of financial awareness among pupils. Indeed, financial literacy is widely available online and can be accessed at any time and from any location. We employed a quantitative method with a non-experimental research design for this study. A questionnaire survey is used to obtain data. The goal of this study is to determine whether there is a correlation between student interest in capital market investment and their digital financial literacy. As a result, extensive action is required to increase student interest in the capital market, which is precisely what this study wants to do. According to our findings, students who have access to digital financial and investment information have increased their financial literacy and developed a greater interest in investing in the capital market. Individuals are also encouraged by social media trends to try their hand at investing in the stock market.
