In the present work we introduce a system identification framework where no a priori information on the system to be identified is available. Focusing in the specific case of radial basis functions neural networks models, we insert the choice of the model complexity and its inputs in the optimization procedure together with the model parameters, aiming at accuracy, model validity and regularization in a multiobjective approach. The multicriteria problem is solved by means of the multiobjective cuckoo search, which is based on an archiving technique and the crowding distance metric. Simulation results are promising when the methodology is applied to identify a robot arm given solely input and output data.

Strategies when unfolded through a systematic methodology, can ensure a greater probability of positive return for organizations such as increased quality and reduced production costs. In this paper, it will be presented the development of a systematic methodology for Strategic Management of Operations, with the objective of proposing the construction and refinement of a conceptual model used to develop Strategies. The organizations used in the research sample are characterized to be in the area of Service Operations in Project regimes. This methodology can optimize the use of a correct approach to the processes of development of Strategies, with more accurate monitoring of all stages of implementation. Finally, the study allows us to analyze the application of the methodology, checking its academic contributions and the results of the case studies analyzed.

The paper proposes a model for expanded audit of operations strategy that considers the social, economic and environmental in the process of formulation and review of evidence to validate a sustainable operation. The proposed model calls for the operations strategy of an organization should be linked to 3 vertices: sustainability of operations, strategic indicators and auditing. A management audit aims to provide a thorough analysis of the company taking into account the effects of the changes caused by uncontrollable external variables and thus the challenge of being the first international standard for managing corporate responsibility, focusing on audit and social reporting, the AA1000, presents a strategic integration of sustainability indicators that, using the principles of management audit, planning determines an audit to validate sustainable operations. Due to the need to update the current guidelines for highway design to focus on safety, this study sought to build an accident prediction model using a Geographic Information System (GIS) for single-lane rural highways, with a minimum of statistically significant variables, adequate to the Brazilian reality, and improve accident prediction for places with similar characteristics. A database was created to associate the accident records with the geometric parameters of the highway and to fill in the gaps left by the absence of geometric highway plans through geometric reconstitution or semi-automatic extraction of highways using satellite images. The Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) method was applied to estimate the coefficients of the model, assuming negative distribution of the binomial error for the count of observed accidents. The accident frequency and annual average daily traffic (AADT) were analyzed, along with the spatial and geometric characteristics of 215 km of federal single-lane rural highways between 2007 and 2016. The GEE procedure was applied to two models having three variations of distinct homogeneous segmentation, two based on segments and one based on the kernel density estimator. To assess the effect of constant traffic, two more variations of the models using AADT as an offset variable were considered. The predominant correlation structure in the models was the exchangeable. The principal contributing factors for the occurrence of collisions were the radius of the horizontal curve, the grade, segment length, and the AADT. The study produced clear indicators for the design parameters of roadways that influence the safety performance of rural highways.
