The impacts incurred by floods regularly affect the planets population, inflicting social and economic problems. Optimal control strategies based on reservoir management may aid in controlling floods and mitigating the resulting damage. To this end, an accurate dynamic representation of water systems is needed. In practice, flood control strategies rely on hydrological forecasting models obtained fromconceptual or data-drivenmethods. Encouraged by recent works, this research proposes a novel surrogate model for water flow in a river channel based on physics-informed neural networks (PINNs). This approach achieved promising results regarding the assimilation of real-data measurements and the parameter identification of differential equations that govern the underlying dynamics. This article investigates PINN performance in a simulated environment built directly from a configuration of the Saint-Venant equations. The objective is to create a suitable model with high prediction accuracy and scientifically consistent behavior for use in real-Time applications. The experiments revealed promising results for hydrological modeling and presented alternatives to solve the main challenges found in conventional methods while assisting in synthesizing real-world representations. Impact Statement-The research seeks to contribute to the hydrological modeling area with a surrogate model based on physicsinformed neural networks (PINNs) to water flow in a watershed. The human brain can effortlessly imagine a 3D image from only 2D images with a little expertise and imagination, but for machines, this is not a trivial task. Because of this, reconstructing 3D images from 2D ones is a hot topic and has many applications. In this paper, we propose a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based approach that generates CT-like images using pairs of orthogonal X-ray projections taken from different angles. In this work, a variety of orthogonal pairs from different angles, ranging from 0 &90 to 60 &150, were considered as input to the 3D image generation model. The effectiveness of the proposed method was assessed by measuring the Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), which resulted in values of 0.641 and 29.21, respectively. Furthermore, the model's ability to capture the respiratory motion in the input projections and reflect it in the generated images was also assessed. This work demonstrated the feasibility of generating CT-like images from X-ray projections captured from different orthogonal angles taking into consideration the respiratory motion exhibited in these projections. © 2023 IEEE.

Healthcare cybersecurity is crucial for protecting hospitals' networks and computing systems from malicious cyber-attacks. With the increasing motivation and capability of cyber attackers, it is necessary to secure the software and hardware infrastructure of biomedical computing systems used in healthcare. Due to the increasingly digitized nature of modern biomedical devices used in healthcare systems, effective cybersecurity solutions have become more essential. Traditional security protocols focused on software-level protection, with the underlying hardware assumed to be secure. However, recent studies have revealed vulnerabilities in hardware that attackers can exploit to compromise computing systems. To address this, in this paper a bottom-up approach is proposed, delegating security to the underlying hardware to enhance the security and cost-efficiency with less visibility to the attacker. This paper aims to develop effective intelligent countermeasures for hardware-assisted cyber-security at run-time in biomedical devices. It leverages processors' performance events via Hardware Performance Counters (HPCs) combined with Machine Learning (ML) techniques to fortify biomedical devices at the hardware level. To achieve this objective, we introduce a tailored and cost-effective hardware monitoring framework, complemented by a machine learning-enabled methodology. This approach enhances the accuracy and efficiency of malware detection and identification using real-time data from biomedical processors' hardware events. The experimental results demonstrate that the XGBoost model, using 4 hardware events, excels in malware detection, boasting 95% detection rate (F-measure and Accuracy), efficient resource utilization, and low inference latency. Additionally, the ExtraTree classifier achieves 87% F-measure and exhibits swift performance in classifying malware types in real-time. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we aim to reduce the number of nodes from Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), thereby simplifying models and reducing computational costs. GNNs are highly effective for various tasks, such as prediction, classification, and clustering, due to their ability to learn node and edge attributes and relationships, and they have been utilized for intelligent transportation systems recently by converting sensor networks into graph structures. Deep spatio-temporal neural networks, including Spatio-Temporal Graph Convolutional Networks (STGCNs), capture spatial and temporal dependencies, making them suitable for traffic speed forecasting, traffic demand prediction, and travel time estimation. Despite their success, GNNs face challenges in industrial applications due to significant memory usage and time consumption. In this paper, we propose a new approach to node reduction that outperforms existing methods in computational efficiency. Our experiments on two real-world traffic datasets demonstrate that using the heuristic and edge information to reduce nodes can cut computation time of optimization up to 95% and, by eliminating noise, can even enhance prediction accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Software quality assurance is a crucial process that ensures software products meet specified requirements and quality standards. Achieving an exhaustive test coverage is essential for quality assurance, particularly in complex and dynamic Process-Aware Information systems (PAIS) built upon the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN). Manual testing in such systems is challenging due to many execution paths, dependencies, and external interfaces. This paper proposes a model-based testing strategy that uses BPMN models and build specifications as input to generate a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) script that automates a comprehensive User Acceptance Test procedure. Leveraging on Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to automate user interactions allows for reducing the need for testers to manually input PAIS-related information when handling user forms. Despite the potential benefits that the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) can bring to the system, it may cause problems related to power quality constraints, such $as$ reverse power flow in substation and overvoltages. An effective approach to address these problems involves the adoption of reactive and active power control in grid-tie inverters associated with DER. Therefore, this paper assesses the impacts of grid-tie inverter control modes, including both Volt-Var and Volt-Watt strategies, on the DER hosting capacity. In order to improve the overall system operation, modifications in the Volt-Var and Volt-Watt curves were proposed. It is noteworthy that these control strategies can have adverse effects on certain distribution system performance indicators, such $as$ voltage deviation and power losses;for this reason, these indicators are also evaluated in this study. A stochastic approach was adopted to deal with the uncertainties associated with DERs and loads. Finally, from tests conducted in the IEEE 33-bus test system, it was concluded that the proper adjustment of the Volt-Var and Volt-Watt control curves significantly influences DER hosting capacity, $as$ well $as$ voltage deviation and power losses. © 2023 IEEE.

Childhood stunting is a condition anticipated to affect the growth potential of children under the age of five. With numerous stunting researches that have been conducted, stunting datasets are now widely available to facilitate stunting research. This provides an opportunity to implement machine learning (ML) principles to produce a broader insight or a novel technique in stunting prediction. A systematic literature review is necessary to discover the landscape of machine learning implementation in the application domain as a preliminary study for creating an effective research roadmap. This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of 22 curated manuscripts that focuses on identifying the ML models applied in stunting research, as well as the datasets used in such studies that were published during 2017-2022. The SLR process found that ML principles have been applied in stunting research since 2017, and the diversity of ML implementation has become more varied in 2021-2022. In terms of ML models, XGBoost and Random Forest are recognized as the two most utilized models, and stunting prediction is the most common ML implementation. The majority of stunting research utilizing ML has been conducted in Indonesia. Although national survey data has been the most commonly utilized dataset in stunting research, researchers in Indonesia have shown a preference for utilizing data from regional or independent surveys. This study will be followed by developing a classifier model for stunted children using XGBoost and Random Forest algorithms. The model will be trained on a dataset generated from StuntingDB. © 2023 IEEE.

This study investigates the cognitive and emotional processes involved in augmented reality (AR)-based learning. The study looks at learning outcomes, emotional responses, meditation, and attention using a comprehensive approach that includes self-assessment, EEG data gathering, and post-experiment questionnaires. Twelve participants, selected based on their English proficiency and lack of prior knowledge of the course material, engaged in AR-based learning, while a baseline reading condition was included to contextualize cognitive and emotional engagement. The study findings indicate that the AR group's participants demonstrated notably elevated attention and meditation levels, indicating heightened engagement and focus that is advantageous for efficient assimilation and retention of knowledge. Furthermore, AR learners reported feeling less tired and exhausted, which may have mitigated the negative emotional states that are frequently connected to learning activities. However, no significant differences in negative emotions were observed between the reading and AR groups. These results emphasize the value of customized AR environments for education goals and the need for more study to maximize learning outcomes and affective experiences in AR learning contexts. © 2008-2011 IEEE.

Fluoroscopy in a low-dose tube output is used to reduce the damage associated with radiation exposure. However, lowering the radiation dose inevitably increases random noise in x-ray images, resulting in poor diagnostic image quality, which requires noise reduction for accurate diagnosis. Also, in the case of non-static objects, the image is blurred due to motion. The most-used denoiser with a recursive filter (RF) preserves details well when applied to temporal data, but it is vulnerable to motion blur. Existing convolutional neural network (CNN)-based algorithms with single-frame input cannot use the temporary context, and others with multi-frame input are good for motion detection but poor for detail preservation. Therefore, we propose a motion-level-aware denoising framework to combine the results of RF- and CNN-based algorithms depending on the pixel-wise magnitude of motion to complement each other. The data we use are fluoroscopy images taken in continuous time, and we aim at many-to-one so that one frame is denoised by considering sequential frames. Also, since both RF- and CNN-based algorithms used in our architecture are many-to-one methods, they can consider spatiotemporal information. In the multi-frame input, the difference in intensity of each pixel between frames is calculated to obtain a moving map. Depending on the factor value from the moving map, the final image is obtained by reflecting the outputs of the RF- and CNN-based algorithms. If the factor value is high, the pixel intensity of the final image is like the CNN-based output, which is good for motion detection, and vice versa, it more reflects the intensity of RF output, which is excellent in perceptual quality. Therefore, it prevents motion blur and does not over-smooth microdetails, such as bones and muscles. The results show that combining the two outputs together records higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and has better perceptual quality for diagnosis than using only one method. F
