To directly investigate the dynamic nanoscale phenomenon on the surface being processed in wet conditions such as precision polishing, and cleaning in semiconductor industrial, an optical method for visualization and observation of each sub-100 nm sized particle that is moving on an interface such as a silica glass surface by applying an evanescent field have been proposing. Subsequently, we developed an experimental apparatus equipped with an optical microscopy system for verifying the moving particle observation method in a laboratory scale. This article introduces some experimentally direct observation results of duplicated wet processes. © 2024 IEEE.

Microblogs generate a vast amount of data in which users express their emotions regarding almost all aspects of everyday life. Capturing affective content from these context-dependent and subjective texts is a challenging task. We propose an intelligent probabilistic model for textual emotion recognition in multidimensional space (TERMS) that captures the subjective emotional boundaries and contextual information embedded in a text for robust emotion recognition. It is implausible with discrete label assignment;therefore, the model employs a soft assignment by mapping varying emotional perceptions in a multidimensional space and generates them as distributions via the Gaussian mixture model (GMM). To strengthen emotion distributions, TERMS integrates a probabilistic emotion classifier that captures the contextual and linguistic information from texts. The integration of these aspects, the context-aware emotion classifier and the learned GMM parameters provide a complete coverage for accurate emotion recognition. The large-scale experimentation shows that compared to baseline and state-of-the-art models, TERMS achieved better performance in terms of distinguishability, prediction, and classification performance. In addition, TERMS provide insights on emotion classes, the annotation patterns, and the models application in different scenarios. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are a valuable source of data for a wide range of real-time applications, due to their functionality, availability, adaptability, and maneuverability. Working as mobile sensors, they can provide a cost-effective solution for extremely complex tasks, such as inspection, air-to-ground communications, search and rescue, surveillance, among others. Nevertheless, the robots needs to navigate in quite distinct environments and in different dynamism levels, usually facing unpredicted situations, very often using limited sensing and computing capabilities. A large number of solutions to this problem has been featured by the scientific community in the last years, some of them based on machine-learning (ML) methods. Due to its great capability to deal with big data and complexity, as well as its speedy and high-accuracy processing, the ML framework has been used to improve existing technologies and control techniques. In this context, its adoption in several UAV navigation strategies is expected to provide solutions for various problems where UAVs are used in real-time applications. Thus, in order to contextualize the most recent advances, this work provides a detailed survey of relevant researches in which ML techniques have been used in UAV navigation to improve some functional aspects, such as energy-efficiency, communication, execution time, resource management, obstacle avoidance, and path planning. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

Existing graph neural network (GNN) based recommendation models depend highly on initial node features and graph structures. Most prior studies do not support the use of additional information on user-item interactions and adopt a transductive method, which has limitations for actual web service. To overcome these problems, we propose Context-aware Inductive Graph Matrix Completion (CGMC), which utilizes context vectors that represent user-item interactions and user-item bipartite graph structures in an inductive manner. Our method constructs context vectors from the review, timestamp, and rating and uses them as edge features of the user-item bipartite graph. Relations between homogeneous nodes are also constructed based on common neighbors. Our model combines context vectors and relational information using Context-aware Graph Attention Networks and Edge Fusion Graph Convolutional Networks. We conducted extensive experiments using six real-world datasets, and the results show that the proposed model achieves superior performances over other competing models. Furthermore, we analyzed the inductive characteristics of CGMC through the cross-domain transferability. A host-switch graph was originally proposed as a graph that represents a network topology of a computer systems with 1-port host computers and (Formula presented.) -port switches. It has been studied from both theoretical and practical aspects in terms of the diameter, the average shortest path length, and the performance of real applications. In recent high-performance computing systems, however, a host computer is connected to multiple switches by using InfiniBand, NVSwitch, or Omni-Path, and consequently they provide high bandwidths. Since a host-switch graph cannot represent such systems, this article extends a host-switch graph so that it can represent such systems. As a result, a host-switch graph can include multi-ported hosts. Furthermore, we propose to use multi-port hosts for reducing the diameter. We show that the diameter minimization is equivalent to solving the degree diameter problem for bipartite graphs of diameter three. Our experimental results show that we can drastically reduce the diameter as well as increasing the bandwidth and improves performance of MPI applications by up to 162% as compared with networks with single-ported hosts. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Centralized machine learning algorithms in vehicular networks face privacy and resource constraints. Federated Learning (FL) addresses these by enabling collaborative model training without sharing raw data. To incentivize vehicle participation despite resource constraints, we propose a contract between Roadside Units (RSUs) and vehicles, specifying required computation resources and rewards based on local data quality. The contract is designed to maximize the utility of the RSU, subject to constraints that ensure the participation of the vehicles in the task and truthful reporting of their data quality parameter. However, designing an optimal contract with classical methods is limited to specific utility functions. To extend the design methodology of optimal contracts to a broader range of utility functions, our study proposes a deep learning-based solution. Specifically, we present a novel application of Deep Neural Networks (DNNs), marking the first instance of applying DNNs in contract theory-based incentive mechanisms to achieve nearoptimal contracts. We design the DNN's structure to inherently satisfy specific constraints of the optimization problem, enhancing its efficiency and accuracy in determining the optimal contract. We utilize an augmented Lagrangian method to approximate the optimal contract in federated learning tasks. A case study on traffic sign recognition demonstrates the applicability and effectiveness of our method. Comparing our approach with the well-known generative diffusion model shows that in the FL scenarios, the DNN results are closer to the optimal contract compared to those of the generative diffusion model. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

The growing focus on microcredentials emphasizes the urgent need for precise and widely accepted definitions, as existing uncertainties hinder their effective implementation. This research aims to investigate the comprehension of microcredentials definitions in the context of higher education by conducting a systematic literature review. The goal is to identify current definitions of microcredentials to facilitate standardization initiatives. Following The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology to systematically search in Scopus database within 2019-2024 resulting $\mathbf{9 4 0}$ articles, by removing the duplicates, $\mathbf{2 8 0}$ articles were initially reviewed, with 29 selected for detailed thematic analysis based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. By adapting the six phases of thematic analysis, selected articles were identified analyzed, organized, described, and themes found the data set were reported. Key findings reveal that, while a universally accepted definition is lacking, common themes emerge: microcredentials are competency-based, modular, portable, stackable, and often include quality assurance. These attributes highlight microcredentials as valuable for upskilling and reskilling in a flexible manner. The study concludes that establishing standard definitions can increase the recognition and utility of microcredentials across educational and professional sectors and recommends further research to strengthen core elements for consistency.

Full-marathon and Half-marathon distances are categorized as road running. Full-marathon running is becoming increasingly popular, and Half-marathon is increasing worldwide in both sexes and all age groups. Some aspects might relate to Full-marathon and Half-marathon running performance during training and races. Technology also plays an essential role in supporting runners and running races. Technology like artificial intelligence (AI) now supports the running athlete, not only predicting performance and results. It can also be used later to help the coach generate training programs for the athlete. This research aimed to find many aspects of marathons and performance and analyze them to see if artificial intelligence could later support them. It used secondary data and a systematic literature review proposed by Kitchenham. Out of the 58 articles, 21 of them (36.21%) received a score of 1 from Q1. Additionally, 19 articles (32.76%) received a score of 1 from both Q2 and Q3. Among the 58 articles, 9 (15.52%) received a total score of 3, with all three Q1, Q2, and Q3 scores being 1. This indicates that artificial intelligence will likely support the content of these nine articles. Several factors were also discovered to be connected to marathons and athletic performance. These findings suggested that additional investigation into marathons and performance, later backed by artificial intelligence, remained pertinent and essential. © 2024 IEEE.

LoRa's biggest advantage is its flexibility, which is the ability to increase or decrease data rate and range while decreasing or increasing sensitivity. Whenever propagation conditions change frequently, this function allows the spreading factor to be modified accordingly. Despite their efficiency and scalability, adaptive data rate algorithms ignore and fail to factor in the complex correlation between ambient weather parameters influencing the communication channel design. In this research, a Bayesian surrogate Gaussian process-based bidirectional LSTM stacked autoencoder model (BSGP-BLSTM-SAE) is proposed to estimate the channel performance indicators such as received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and to determine the correlation between the ambient weather conditions and performance indicators for the LoRaWAN network. Bayesian optimization algorithm has been used to optimize the hyper-parameters of the developed model. A LoRaWAN experimental multivariate time series dataset has been used for the evaluation of the developed model, which upon testing and validation produces high accuracy in predicting the channel performance indicators and ambient conditions of the experimental LoRaWAN network. The mean absolute error of the developed model was around 0.45. Thus, the proposed model can predict the link performance indicators and thereby assist in real-time optimization of the transmission parameters to enhance the network performance in LoRaWAN-based systems at different ambient conditions. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

The purpose of this study is to develop and investigate a new rough clustering based on optimization. We propose a restructured algorithm using only one variable, instead of the algorithm described using two variables in existing methods. We also perform numerical examples using artificial data and the Iris and Wine datasets. This research has the potential to be used as a method for determining false negatives and false positives in cancer diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.
