Deep Learning has been successfully applied in diverse fields, and its impact on deepfake detection is no exception. Deepfakes are fake yet realistic synthetic content that can be used deceitfully for political impersonation, phishing, slandering, or spreading misinformation. Despite extensive research on unimodal deepfake detection, identifying complex deepfakes through joint analysis of audio and visual streams remains relatively unexplored. To fill this gap, this survey first provides an overview of audiovisual deepfake generation techniques, applications, and their consequences, and then provides a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art methods that combine audio and visual modalities to enhance detection accuracy, summarizing and critically analyzing their strengths and limitations. Furthermore, we discuss existing open source datasets for a deeper understanding, which can contribute to the research community and provide necessary information to beginners who want to analyze deep learning-based audiovisual methods for video forensics. By bridging the gap between unimodal and multimodal approaches, this paper aims to improve the effectiveness of deepfake detection strategies and guide future research in cybersecurity and media integrity. © 2024, CC BY.

Human skeleton-based action recognition represents a pivotal field of study, capturing the intricate interplay between physical dynamics and intentional actions. Current research primarily focuses on extracting structural and temporal information from static skeleton-based graphs, but they grapple with a myriad of challenges. These include 1) an absence of hierarchical structure in encoding the skeleton-based graphs;2) A requirement for substantial prior knowledge to interpret the diverse spatial dynamics within singular action labels;3) An intricate task of representing the multifaceted temporal dynamics of individual actions. To counter this issue, we propose DHS-Net, an innovative dynamic hierarchical skeleton-based network in video content. The proposed DHS-Net incorporates the DHS Block as a central element, effectively facilitating information exchange through node concentration and diffusion across both structural and temporal dimensions. Through this architectural design, DHS-Net extracts hierarchical representations, enhancing the comprehensive understanding of spatio-temporal dynamics and marking a significant advancement in human action recognition. Our rigorous experimental evaluations further substantiate DHS-Net's supremacy, outperforming several state-of-the-art benchmarks in skeleton-based action recognition and achieving remarkable prediction accuracy. © 2024, The Authors. Speaker-Specific Articulatory Feature Extraction Based on Knowledge Distillation for Speaker Recognition

This paper proposes a novel speaker-specific articulatory feature (AF) extraction model based on knowledge distillation (KD) for speaker recognition. First, an AF extractor is trained as a teacher model for extracting the AF profiles of the input speaker dataset. Next, a KD-based speaker embedding extraction method is proposed to distill the speaker-specific information from the AF profiles in the teacher model to a student model based on multi-task learning, in which the lower layers not only capture the speaker characteristics from acoustic features, but also learn the speaker-specific features from the AF profiles for robust speaker representation. Finally, speaker embeddings are extracted from the high-level layer, and the obtained speaker embeddings are further used to train a probabilistic linear discriminant analysis (PLDA) model for speaker recognition. In the experiments, speaker embedding models were trained using the VoxCeleb2 dataset and the AF extractor was trained based on the LibriSpeech dataset, and the performance was evaluated using the VoxCeleb1 dataset. The experiments showed that the proposed KD-based models outperformed the baseline models without KD. Furthermore, feature concatenation of multimodal results can further improve the performance.

The number of smart warehouses has increased in the last few years, mainly because of the enormous sales volume in e-commerce systems. Such physical environments are fully equipped with robots that solve the orders that arrive there. Most research in the literature presents results just about the path planning and allocation tasks as the main problems related to this area. However, it is also essential to consider how robotic platforms, such as ROS (Robot Operating System), deal with integrating with streaming platforms that manage the orders that arrive into the smart warehouses. This paper presents a simple way to integrate ROS with Kafka, a streaming platform highly used in e-commerce systems. We develop a bridge code to glue these two platforms and test it within three realist simulation scenarios. As we will show, the use of the QoS profiles provided by the ROS Data Distribution Service (DDS) allows us to achieve a higher level of reliability.

Several research efforts have proposed adaptive solutions for Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) to satisfy time requirements and save energy on Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) affected by radiofrequency interferences and carrying dynamic traffic. Even with the benefits, most of these solutions waste network bandwidth, decreasing network performance and the ability to recover from some unexpected communication conditions. This paper introduces the E-THeTA, an adaptive and efficient approach based on TDMA crafted to enhance performance, save energy, and efficiently use WBAN bandwidth. Compared to IEEE 802.15.4 and IEEE 802.15.6 standards and other adaptive approaches, the proposed solution reduces message losses, consumes less energy, and maintains low communication latencies in most evaluated scenarios.

This works presents an innovative application of Markov Decision Process (MDP) to a medium-term mining logistics planning problem considering the mine-to-client supply chain. We implemented three distinct algorithms based on state-of-the-art approaches to solve large-scale problems, and compared their results. Furthermore, we combined all three variants in a single novel algorithm that attained fast convergence and may be an alternative to circumvent the curse of dimensionality underlying large scale problems. © 2020 EUCA.

As Metaverse emerges as the next-generation Internet paradigm, the ability to efficiently generate content is paramount. AI-Generated Content (AIGC) emerges as a key solution, yet the resource-intensive nature of large Generative AI (GAI) models presents challenges. To address this issue, we introduce an AIGC-as-a-Service (AaaS) architecture, which deploys AIGC models in wireless edge networks to ensure broad AIGC services accessibility for Metaverse users. Nonetheless, an important aspect of providing personalized user experiences requires carefully selecting AIGC Service Providers (ASPs) capable of effectively executing user tasks, which is complicated by environmental uncertainty and variability. Addressing this gap in current research, we introduce the AI-Generated Optimal Decision (AGOD) algorithm, a diffusion model-based approach for generating the optimal ASP selection decisions. Integrating AGOD with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), we develop the Deep Diffusion Soft Actor-Critic (D2SAC) algorithm, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of ASP selection. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that D2SAC outperforms seven leading DRL algorithms. Furthermore, the proposed AGOD algorithm has the potential for extension to various optimization problems in wireless networks, positioning it as a promising approach for future research on AIGC-driven services. The coordination of cooperating Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) has become an active area of research. The approaches to coordinate these so-called swarms generally include a solution to a class of problems called Area Coverage as a building block. Area coverage problems consist in obtaining information about a certain interest area (commonly a polygon or a polyhedron) using a set of UAVs, generally with decentralized coordination and minimal human intervention. This problem models the requirements of different types of applications, such as in the case of emergencies and disasters, gas leak detection, seeking lost people, among many others. In this paper we describe a specific strategy to coordinate dynamic sets of UAVs to solve a specific area coverage problem. Existing solutions to the problem typically consider a fixed set of UAVs. In dynamic sets, UAVs might enter or leave the set. Beyond describing a specific strategy to the problem, we introduce the framework we are building on top of ROS/Gazebo to implement it. This framework eases the implementation of different strategies for multiple UAVs coordination and the assessment of their quality.

Dealing with resolution variations in dual-temporal remote sensing images is challenging due to differences in sensor capabilities, altitudes, footprints, resampling, and data fusion. Conventional methods for different-resolution change detection struggle to effectively address these challenges, primarily due to insufficient consideration of global and local feature interactions. In this paper, we propose a novel change detection model that leverages the power of multi-scale resolution fusion(MRF). By incorporating the MRF-Block, our approach extracts hierarchical multi-scale features from the input data, enabling effective capture of contextual information at various granularities. This facilitates improved handling of resolution disparities and promotes interactions between global and local features. Experimental evaluations conducted on diverse datasets, demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed model in achieving accurate change detection in dual-temporal remote sensing imagery, even in scenarios characterized by varying resolutions.
