The growing focus on microcredentials emphasizes the urgent need for precise and widely accepted definitions, as existing uncertainties hinder their effective implementation. This research aims to investigate the comprehension of microcredentials definitions in the context of higher education by conducting a systematic literature review. The goal is to identify current definitions of microcredentials to facilitate standardization initiatives. Following The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology to systematically search in Scopus database within 2019-2024 resulting $\mathbf{9 4 0}$ articles, by removing the duplicates, $\mathbf{2 8 0}$ articles were initially reviewed, with 29 selected for detailed thematic analysis based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. By adapting the six phases of thematic analysis, selected articles were identified analyzed, organized, described, and themes found the data set were reported. Key findings reveal that, while a universally accepted definition is lacking, common themes emerge: microcredentials are competency-based, modular, portable, stackable, and often include quality assurance. These attributes highlight microcredentials as valuable for upskilling and reskilling in a flexible manner. The study concludes that establishing standard definitions can increase the recognition and utility of microcredentials across educational and professional sectors and recommends further research to strengthen core elements for consistency.

In the high-performance computing domain, Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is a novel accelerator that exhibits high flexibility and performance characteristics distinct from other accelerators such as the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). Recent advanced high-end FPGA is equipped with multiple channels of high speed optical link up to 100Gbps performance for each. This is a crucial feature when we construct PC clusters with FPGAs as accelerators, however it is not easy to utilize from user kernels because this feature is implemented in low level and simple direct communication between neighboring FPGAs. In order to provide the communication feature between FPGAs for accelerated PC clusters, we developed a communication system named CIRCUS which implies a user-friendly API from OpenCL and is equipped with routing function over multi-hop communication on multi-dimensional torus network of FPGAs. However, current CIRCUS only provides a point-to-point communication between source and destination FPGAs. In ordinary parallel processing environment such as MPI, the user program the message passing with various collective communication functions for parallel algorithm, for instance Allreduce, Allgather, etc. In this paper, we implement the collective communication function over CIRCUS for user-friendly programming of ordinary parallel algorithms on FPGAs. As the first target, we implement Allreduce function which is the most essential and important function. The paper describes the CIRCUS system briefly followed by the design, implementation and preliminary performance evaluation on Intel Stratix10 FPGAs. © 2023 ACM.

Today's society is different from the past, where the speed of the internet is getting more sophisticated, and the existing gadget technology is getting faster, and of course, this is also changing the lifestyle of today's people, which of course almost half of their daily life is spent in front of gadgets. On the one hand, this is undoubtedly very good and supports humans in carrying out their daily life activities, but on the other hand, this raises new problems where humans start to lack time to communicate and socialize with each other and often making them stressed and anxious because they are already tired and do not know how to socialize anymore. This paper begins with a model and implementation of a very simple mobile application that behaves as a social media inspired by *** as a social media for academics. Succession planning is important in organization management. It is a strategic level management that involves not only finding the best successor but also including the development program for the successor so that they will be ready for the new prospective position. The integration and collaboration between all related stakeholders are important. Specifically, in succession planning at higher education, key positions play an important role so that institutional operations can run well. In this research, a succession planning model in higher education was built using the Systematic Literature Review(SLR), and the Software Development Lifecycle(SDLC) method was used for the application development, also, to be able to evaluate the implementation of one of the steps of the model, the simulation technique used machine learning (ML) to find the best algorithm for predicting the readiness of potential successors at higher education. Six algorithms were used: Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbor, Linear Discriminant Analysis, Gaussian Naïve Bayes, and Support Vector Machine. The data prepared for the simulation is based on the factors for the best successor candidate. The results obtained in this research are the succession planning model and the application design, as well as the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm as the best algorithm for predicting the readiness status of successor candidates based on SVM’s accuracy score that is compared to the other algorithm in some variance amounts of data. The Succession Planning Model that is actualized in the application design provides a reference for the higher education institution to implement the Succession Model in their institution.

Real-time social interactions and multi-streaming are two critical features of live streaming services. In this paper, we formulate a new fundamental service query, Social-aware Diverse and Preferred Organization Query (SDSQ), that jointly selects a set of diverse and preferred live streaming channels and a group of socially tight viewers for organization of a live multi-streaming soiree. We prove that SDSQ is NP-hard and inapproximable within any factor, and design SDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm with a guaranteed error bound. Moreover, we study SDSQ-T, a special case of SDSQ, where the social graph is a threshold graph, and propose TDSSel, a 2-approximation algorithm without any error to SDSQ-T. We propose two pruning strategies, PCP and CDP to boost SDSSel and TDSSel. We further propose a more challenging but practical service query, Generalized Social-aware Maximum Preferred and Diverse Query (GSPQ), a generalization of SDSQ. We design GPDSel, a 4-approximation algorithm for GSPQ with a guaranteed error bound. We propose a strategy to improve the approximation ratios of the proposed algorithms. A user study on Twitch validates SDSQ, and the large-scale experiments on real datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithms over several baselines for live-streaming services. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

In the world of education, learning management systems are currently widely used. The massively open online courses are accessible either via the web or mobile. The Learning Management System (LMS) is one of the learning media that is widely used today in online learning. An LMS with the use of a personalized recommendation system can provide items tailored to the interests and behavior of its users. Items in the recommendation system can be in the form of recommendations for learning models, ways of learning, learning patterns, or learning stages according to the characteristics and profile of the user. The purpose of this study is to identify opportunities for better online learning by utilizing a customized recommendation system based on the history of user interaction with the system, using several factors as determinants or variables. The method used is a review conducted from several stages. The result of this is knowing the factors that influence the user, and the opportunities that exist in the system recommendations on personalized development. © 2023 IEEE.

The use of long short-term memory models to estimate soybean pricing: a regional climate data evaluation from Brazil

This work uses machine learning methods to analyze the influence of the Brazilian climate on international soybean price variability. For this purpose, climatic data, historical series of the extended national consumer price index, dollar price historical series, soybean harvest historical series, and international soybean price historical series are collected from different data sources. The data is then preprocessed and grouped by state. Afterward, data from the five most productive Brazilian states, Mato Grosso (MT), Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Goiás (GO), Paraná (PR), and Rio Grande do Sul (RS), which together correspond to 74.9% of total production, are chosen. Then, predictive models were built using the long short-term memory (LSTM) method, which is applied to each state dataset considering two different settings: with and without climatic data. Thus, two models were built for each Brazilian state, totaling ten predictors. These models are evaluated using 10-fold sequential split cross-validation, whose predictive results are used for performance comparison through statistical hypothesis testing. In the experimental evaluation, when trained with climatic data, the PR model achieved the lowest average values of root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE), which are 20.90 and 16.72, respectively. Regarding predictors trained without climate data, the RS and PR obtained the lowest averaged values of RMSE (20.84) and MAE (16.81), respectively. After performing statistical hypothesis tests, no significant differences were found between the models, stating, with certainty 95%, that the Brazilian climatic data did not influence soybean prices in our study. © 2013 IEEE.

In the past ten years, there has been a proliferation of unstructured textual data from a variety of fields, allowing for the analysis of the sentiment polarity of the text authors in each of those datasets. To analyze sentiment polarity from unstructured data, machine learning tasks such as aspect-based sentiment analysis are used. The public dataset of restaurant patron feedback was used as the input for this study's empirical results of aspect-based sentiment analysis utilizing the Aspect Embedding Long Short-Term Memory model. The primary experiment's results show that the aspect embedding long short-term memory model can predict aspect sentiment polarization from customer feedback to restaurant service and aspect text representation (aspect text embedding) as input with excellent performance. For example, the Aspect Embedding Long Short-term Memory model, which uses ReLU as its activation function in the Dense layer tends to achieve higher performance (0.97 average accuracies) than the same model equipped with Sigmoid, and Tanh functions which achieve 0.954 and 0.956 average training accuracy respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

The attention mechanism is one of the key enablers which have positioned transformer models as the state-of-the-art models in Natural Language Processing. By having the attention mechanism, the first version (vanilla) transformer model can retrieve the hidden state but at the same time can maintain a low requirement on the context vector dimension by selectively choosing to which encoder hidden states to give priority attention. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of modified Long Short-term Memory models architecture on the model performance as a predictive model. The first model is modified by adding an attention mechanism to its architecture;whilst, the second model is modified by adding additional input to its architecture. The performance of both models is compared by assigning each model the same task: to address the aspect-based sentiment analysis task. The experiment results show that adding an attention mechanism is not significantly increase the performance of the Long Short-term Memory model in comparison to adding input to the same model. In particular, the average training accuracy of the former model is 0.885;whilst, the average training accuracy of the latter model is 0.942. © 2023 IEEE.
