The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published the standard of ISO 14001 environment management system in September of 1996. After the publication of ISO 14001, many environmental accreditation systems were developed. Many famous brands developed their environment system, for example, the system of restricted substance limit of Nike. This study focused on the supply chain of shoes industry to research that how the environmental management system were maintained and what were their approaches to saved energies, reduced the production cost and passed the environment accreditation. In this study, we interviewed one shoe factory, five leather tanneries, and also finished a survey of 15 leather tanneries, as the result, they all passed the ISO 14001 or the Leather World Group accreditation which are required by many worldwide athlete brands. This study found that the environmental accreditation became a basic element to become more competitive, however it is not the guarantee for new order. However in the process to have the environment system, the leather tannery not only fulfilled the management system to achieve the synergy of quality, reduction of the material loss and power energy, and water resource saving. In this fashion, they are not only enhanced the satisfaction of customer but also reduced the cost of production and strengthen their competitiveness.

This study analyzes the impact of climate change on maize production through 2030 with production functions for two important maize-producing regions in China: the Northeast region and the Southwest region. Variations in geographic, climatic, and socioeconomic conditions within the large country imply, however, that the impacts on maize production will likely be the opposite for the two regions. This finding challenges the prevalent view that the climate change has a universally negative effect on Chinese agriculture and implies that a higher flexibility of maize producing timing and a better regional adaptation to climate change in Southwest region could offset or even to outweigh the potential reduction of maize production in the Northeast region. It suggests that advanced inter-regional contracts and cooperation and of policies to stabilize regional agricultural labour force could be a cost-efficient risk mitigation strategy to mitigate the potential reduction of overall national maize production.

Wireless sensor networks can be applied to health care and disaster response, etc. The importance and accuracy of the information requirements of wireless sensors are more stringent. It corresponding to the use of information security should be taken seriously. The detection technology of intrusion detection system (IDS) will affect the lifetime of entire wireless sensor network (WSN). This study combines ontology with intrusion detection system to propose a lightweight ontology intrusion detection system (OWIDS). The system builds the relationship of sensor node in the ontology to detect Sybil attack firstly. The patrol node loads a part of the ontology to detect Sybil attack. Finally, the system uses the isolation table to continue isolation abnormal nodes to avoid duplicate detection energy-consuming. The preliminary experimental result shows that our proposed method can reduce the energy consumption for wireless sensor network intrusion detection, and improve the availability of intrusion detection systems. © 2013 ISSN 1881-803X.

The goal of this paper is to show a study to evaluate the possibility of using ontologies to support maintenance procedures in IT equipment in a small power company. The aim is to improve the degree of reliability in detection of potential failures and defects in maintenance processes of information technology critical assets, trying to obtain less downtime of services that they provide. The methodological procedures used in this study were literature review, to present the modeling concepts of knowledge focused on ontologies creation and state of the art in building of field procedures describing the steps from initial drafting of ontology finishing with their tests. The results demonstrate that it is viable to utilize this technique, where the network equipment that keeps critical services require high level of availability on meeting the needs of the corporation.

Exploring culinary graduates' career decisions and expectations

This study investigated the career decisions and expectations of culinary graduates and their job-search behaviors using career-oriented resources on campus. Research findings suggest that the availability of the new labor force for entry and mid-level positions appears to be lower than the growth of student enrollment. Additionally, influential factors such as the familiarity and willingness to accept job offers were assessed. The results indicate that culinary graduates do not take full advantage of available career-oriented resources on campus when they search for positions in the industry. Managerial implications are discussed and recommendations for recruiters and higher education institutions are presented for better recruitment. © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Nowadays, the design of waste treatment needs to be environmentally- friendly. Due to the fact that the concern of global warming is getting critical, the reuse of waste treatment can be beneficial in reducing carbon dioxide emission. Microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) is a device that can reduce the organic materials and produce the green energy, biohydrogen. Therefore, MEC provides an alternative path for waste degradation. In this study, MEC was analyzed with TRIZ that aims to eliminate contradiction matrix from the analysis in order to improve the MEC efficiency. The study approach is based on the following steps: classifying patents and paper, determining engineering parameters;solving the contradictory problems with 40 innovative principles, and finding the solutions. Service clues are a significant determinant of customers' perceptions of a service experience. The precis manipulation of all the various clues is critical in supporting a firm's strategies. Thus, this study aims to assess the combined effects of physical environment, employee behavior, andfood qualityon customers perceptions of service quality, perceived value, and satisfaction in western table-service restaurants. 307 subjects participated in the study with a 2(physical environment: positive vs. negative) x 2(employe behavior: favorable vs. unfavorable) x2(food quality: good vs. poor) factorial design. Results indicated tha employee behavior clues have the most influence on customers' perceptions of service quality, perceived value, and satisfaction.
