Drug-Target Interactions Prediction Based on Signed Heterogeneous Graph Neural Networks

Drug-target interactions(DTIs) prediction plays an important role in the process of drug *** computational methods treat it as a binary prediction problem, determining whether there are connections between drugs and targets while ignoring relational types information. Considering the positive or negative effects of DTIs will facilitate the study on comprehensive mechanisms of multiple drugs on a common target, in this work, we model DTIs on signed heterogeneous networks, through categorizing interaction patterns of DTIs and additionally extracting interactions within drug pairs and target protein pairs. We propose signed heterogeneous graph neural networks(SHGNNs), further put forward an end-to-end framework for signed DTIs prediction, called SHGNN-DTI,which not only adapts to signed bipartite networks, but also could naturally incorporate auxiliary information from drug-drug interactions(DDIs) and protein-protein interactions(PPIs). For the framework, we solve the message passing and aggregation problem on signed DTI networks, and consider different training modes on the whole networks consisting of DTIs, DDIs and PPIs. Experiments are conducted on two datasets extracted from Drug Bank and related databases, under different settings of initial inputs, embedding dimensions and training modes. The prediction results show excellent performance in terms of metric indicators, and the feasibility is further verified by the case study with two drugs on breast cancer.

Stroke is becoming one of the most common diseases in modern society. Stroke caught in the early phase has a higher potential for recovery as it can be treated before the worsening of the patient's condition. Detection through brain CT images with deep learning has a favorable impact. Residual Attention Network (RAN) architecture is proposed to perform stroke detection. RAN builds upon the regular ResNet architecture by incorporating an attention layer within each residual block to extract meaningful information. RAN combines the advantages of residual connections and attention mechanisms. RAN is able to prevent vanishing gradient problem while focusing on the most important features. RAN yields an accuracy of 96.12% surpassing the regular ResNet with an accuracy of 94.40%. RAN shows great potential, especially in fields that require high accuracy and efficient feature extraction. This paper explores the effectiveness of Residual Attention Networks and their potential applications in areas requiring robust and accurate feature extraction. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2024.

Adaptive predictive analysis model utilizing Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs) to enhance quality assurance processes in Smart Campus environments. Traditional predictive models often struggle with the dynamic and complex nature of educational data, leading to inaccurate predictions and inefficient decision-making. SNNs, inspired by biological neurons, are particularly suited for processing temporal data and adapting to evolving patterns. The proposed model integrates spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) and dynamic weight adjustment to continuously learn and refine predictions in response to real-time data, ensuring improved accuracy and robustness. The study uses historical data from the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) over a three-year period, focusing on key performance indicators such as student enrollment trends, faculty productivity, and resource utilization. Experimental results demonstrate that the SNN-based model outperforms traditional neural networks, achieving a 20% reduction in Mean Squared Error (MSE) and a higher R-squared value. These findings indicate that the model not only enhances predictive accuracy but also offers significant improvements in operational efficiency and resource management. By providing timely and precise insights, this model supports proactive decision-making in educational institutions, enabling administrators to optimize resource allocation, monitor academic quality, and anticipate future challenges. This research contributes to the growing field of artificial intelligence in education, offering a scalable, adaptive approach to managing complex data and improving institutional performance in real-time. © 2024 IEEE.

The Intelligent Internet of Things(IIoT) involves real-world things that communicate or interact with each other through networking technologies by collecting data from these “things” and using intelligent approaches, such as Artificial Intelligence(AI) and machine learning, to make accurate decisions. Data science is the science of dealing with data and its relationships through intelligent approaches. Most state-of-the-art research focuses independently on either data science or IIoT, rather than exploring their integration. Therefore, to address the gap, this article provides a comprehensive survey on the advances and integration of data science with the Intelligent IoT(IIoT) system by classifying the existing IoT-based data science techniques and presenting a summary of various characteristics. The paper analyzes the data science or big data security and privacy features, including network architecture, data protection, and continuous monitoring of data, which face challenges in various IoT-based systems. Extensive insights into IoT data security, privacy, and challenges are visualized in the context of data science for IoT. In addition, this study reveals the current opportunities to enhance data science and IoT market development. The current gap and challenges faced in the integration of data science and IoT are comprehensively presented, followed by the future outlook and possible solutions.

Various organizations store data online rather than on physical *** the number of user’s data stored in cloud servers increases,the attack rate to access data from cloud servers also *** researchers worked on different algorithms to protect cloud data from replay *** of the papers used a technique that simultaneously detects a full-message and partial-message replay *** study presents the development of a TKN(Text,Key and Name)cryptographic algorithm aimed at protecting data from replay *** program employs distinct ways to encrypt plain text[P],a user-defined Key[K],and a Secret Code[N].The novelty of the TKN cryptographic algorithm is that the bit value of each text is linked to another value with the help of the proposed algorithm,and the length of the cipher text obtained is twice the length of the original *** the scenario that an attacker executes a replay attack on the cloud server,engages in cryptanalysis,or manipulates any data,it will result in automated modification of all associated values inside the *** mechanism has the benefit of enhancing the detectability of replay ***,the attacker cannot access data not included in any of the papers,regardless of how effective the attack strategy *** the end of paper,the proposed algorithm’s novelty will be compared with different algorithms,and it will be discussed how far the proposed algorithm is better than all other algorithms.

Modifying Lyapunov exponent of chaotic map by self-cascading

The self-cascade(SC) method is an effective technique for chaos enhancement and complexity increasing in chaos ***, the controllable self-cascade(CSC) method allows for more accurate control of Lyapunov exponents of the discrete map. In this work, the SC and CSC systems of the original map are derived, which enhance the chaotic performance while preserving the fundamental dynamical characteristics of the original map. Higher Lyapunov exponent of chaotic sequences corresponding to higher frequency are obtained in SC and CSC systems. Meanwhile, the Lyapunov exponent could be linearly controlled with greater flexibility in the CSC system. The verification of the numerical simulation and theoretical analysis is carried out based on the platform of CH32.

Generative adversarial networks based motion learning towards robotic calligraphy synthesis

Robot calligraphy visually reflects the motion capability of robotic *** traditional researches mainly focus on image generation and the writing of simple calligraphic strokes or characters,this article presents a generative adversarial network(GAN)-based motion learning method for robotic calligraphy synthesis(Gan2CS)that can enhance the efficiency in writing complex calligraphy words and reproducing classic calligraphy *** key technologies in the proposed approach include:(1)adopting the GAN to learn the motion parameters from the robot writing operation;(2)converting the learnt motion data into the style font and realising the transition from static calligraphy images to dynamic writing demonstration;(3)reproducing high-precision calligraphy works by synthesising the writing motion data *** this study,the motion trajectories of sample calligraphy images are firstly extracted and converted into the robot *** robot performs the writing with motion planning,and the writing motion parameters of calligraphy strokes are learnt with *** the motion data of basic strokes is synthesised based on the hierarchical process of‘stroke-radicalpart-character’.And the robot re-writes the synthesised characters whose similarity with the original calligraphy characters is *** calligraphy characters have been tested in the experiments for method validation and the results validated that the robot can actualise the robotic calligraphy synthesis of writing motion data with GAN.

Obstacle removal in crowd evacuation is critical to safety and the evacuation system efficiency. Recently, manyresearchers proposed game theoreticmodels to avoid and remove obstacles for crowd evacuation. Game theoreticalmodels aim to study and analyze the strategic behaviors of individuals within a crowd and their interactionsduring the evacuation. Game theoretical models have some limitations in the context of crowd evacuation. Thesemodels consider a group of individuals as homogeneous objects with the same goals, involve complex mathematicalformulation, and cannot model real-world scenarios such as panic, environmental information, crowds that movedynamically, etc. The proposed work presents a game theoretic model integrating an agent-based model to removethe obstacles from exits. The proposed model considered the parameters named: (1) obstacle size, length, andwidth, (2) removal time, (3) evacuation time, (4) crowd density, (5) obstacle identification, and (6) route *** proposed work conducts various experiments considering different conditions, such as obstacle types, obstacleremoval, and several obstacles. Evaluation results show the proposed model’s effectiveness compared with existingliterature in reducing the overall evacuation time, cell selection, and obstacle removal. The study is potentially usefulfor public safety situations such as emergency evacuations during disasters and calamities.

Solar flares are one of the strongest outbursts of solar activity,posing a serious threat to Earth’s critical infrastructure,such as communications,navigation,power,and ***,it is essential to accurately predict solar flares in order to ensure the safety of human ***,the research focuses on two directions:first,identifying predictors with more physical information and higher prediction accuracy,and second,building flare prediction models that can effectively handle complex observational *** terms of flare observability and predictability,this paper analyses multiple dimensions of solar flare observability and evaluates the potential of observational parameters in *** flare prediction models,the paper focuses on data-driven models and physical models,with an emphasis on the advantages of deep learning techniques in dealing with complex and high-dimensional *** reviewing existing traditional machine learning,deep learning,and fusion methods,the key roles of these techniques in improving prediction accuracy and efficiency are *** prevailing challenges,this study discusses the main challenges currently faced in solar flare prediction,such as the complexity of flare samples,the multimodality of observational data,and the interpretability of *** conclusion summarizes these findings and proposes future research directions and potential technology advancement.

This paper presents a radar-based heart rate monitoring and Inter-beat interval (IBI) estimation. Traditional IBI estimation relies on peak detection combined with signal processing techniques. Our approach uses signal reconstruction with a neural network, which significantly improves the accuracy and robustness of IBI estimation compared to conventional methods. By utilizing multi-channel input data, our approach effectively mitigates various sources of noise and interference, resulting in highly accurate and reliable IBI predictions. Instead of relying solely on peak detection, we use the U-net architecture and cross-channel attention mechanism to reconstruct the triangular waveform generated from the ground truth ECG signals. The incorporation of multi-channel input and channel-wise attention mechanism improves our model’s ability to discriminate and emphasize critical features from different input channels, further improving IBI estimation accuracy. To evaluate the accuracy and robustness of our proposed method, we trained our model on the open-source dataset [1], and then performed leave-one-subject-out validation, which ensures our approach to be evaluated only on unseen independent subjects. We have achieved a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 26.7 ms for the IBI of each heart-beat. Our results demonstrate the transformative potential of adopting signal reconstruction methods supported by state-of-the-art deep learning techniques. This shift in perspective promises more accurate and robust heart rate and IBI estimation, opening new avenues for improving the accuracy and reliability of cardiac monitoring systems. © 2024 IEEE.
