In this paper, the authors aim to analyze the error of dead reckoned data generated from received data in a discrete temporal axis in a distributed virtual environment (DVE). That is, compared with the data received in continuous time, data acquired in discrete time has a certain degradation or uncertainty of information. Our way of analysis is to introduce a mathematical model of this degradation with regard to the metrics of the temporal interval. We introduced polynomial models for dead reckoning method between frames using parametrics calculated from the data over the last several frames. By employing the method of error analysis of a numerical analysis to the above polynomial models, we formulate theoretical models which approximate the statistical error of dead reckoned data based on parameters such as the update interval and changes in the data. This study enables the discussion on the optimality of the update interval in a DVE using dead reckoning. Finally, we evaluate the adaptability of the theoretical model by conducting simulation experiments generated by pen motion of writing string of letters by human. As a result, we confirm that the proposed theoretical model closely approximates the average error in the simulation

The process of this paper divided two parts; the first part is user interaction that consist manual definition of pattern and pattern matching inside video file. Active learning enables learners to actively engage in learning. Learning not only transfers material to students for learning, but also encourages greater mental engagement and more extensive student-student and student-instructor interaction than does a typical lecture class. Peer instruction (PI) engages students in active learning by achieving continuous instructor-student interaction in a physics lecture. However, the methodologies and the effectiveness of implementing PI for elementary school students have seldom been clarified. This study explores the possibility of adopting PI in an elementary science classroom. The research considerations of the study are as follows: (1) how wireless technology can enhance PI in elementary science classroom; (2) how a teacher can engage students in pre-class reading, and (3) whether elementary school students have sufficient social skills to perform a PI discussion? These questions are examined by observing how the PI pedagogical model worked with a wireless response system in elementary science classroom. Based on the observation, this study also proposes a way of improving the PI learning experience of elementary school students by adding experiments and observations during peer discussion to explain concepts and phenomena in physics.

An emergency response activity usually involves several teams from different organizations working cooperatively for the purpose of saving lives or properties. These teams have to make many decisions under time pressure to accomplish their goals. Most decisions require contextual knowledge coming from the emergency settings, including those which report the activities of other emergency teams. Due to the opportunities provided by the Internet, more and more people are taking advantage of distance learning courses and during the last few years enormous research efforts have been dedicated to the development of distance learning systems. So far, many e-learning systems are proposed and used practically. However, in these systems the e-learning completion rate is about 30 percents. One of the reasons is the low study desire when the learner studies the learning materials. In this research, we propose an e-learning system, which includes three subsystems: the learning subsystem, learner support subsystem, and teacher support subsystem. The learning subsystem improves the learners study desire. The learner support subsystem supports the learner during the study, and the teacher support subsystem support the teacher to get the learner's study state. In the future work, we would like to add other functions to improve more the system performance.

The electron‐phonon interaction in one‐dimensional array of Si dots interconnected with oxide layers is theoretically examined. The folded electron/phonon energy dispersion relations and rigorous phonon normal mode calculation are incorporated. The acoustic deformation potential scattering is weakened due to the strain absorption by the oxide layers. Electron energy loss is strongly suppressed near the bottom of a miniband due to restriction of high‐energy phonon emission.
