Mobile edge computing (MEC), as a promising paradigm, delivers computation and storage capacities at the edge of the network. It supports delay-sensitive services for mobile users (MUs). However, dynamic and stochastic characteristics of MEC networks necessitate constant migration of installed services across edge servers to keep up with the mobility of MUs. As a result, the cost of maintaining the network increases significantly. Existing studies of MEC rarely consider the cost of service migration due to MU mobility. To minimize the long-term cost for microservices in a hybrid cloudedge system comprising of MUs, small base stations (SBSs), and a cloud data center (CDC), the total cost minimization is formulated as a constrained mixed-integer nonlinear program. To solve it, this work designs a novel meta-heuristic optimization algorithm called Multi-swarm Grey-wolf-optimizer based on Genetic-learning (MGG), which effectively combines strong local search capabilities of grey wolf optimizer with superior global search capabilities of genetic algorithm. MGG simultaneously optimizes service request routing among MUs, SBSs, and CDC, CPU speeds of SBSs, service deployment of SBSs, service migration cost of SBSs, as well as MUs' transmission power and channel bandwidth allocation. Simulation results with Google cluster trace demonstrate that MGG outperforms several state-of-the-art peers with respect to the overall cost of the hybrid system. © 2023 IEEE.

The characteristics of the disease that spreads quickly, the number of sufferers, and the severity of sufferers of Coronavirus Disease 2019 are components of uncertainty during the pandemic. In an uncertain situation, prediction models for the need for drugs and medical devices are of great concern to policymakers in government, drug manufacturers, distributors, and pharmaceutical installation managers to maintain drug availability. Drug need prediction models that rely on historical data components on drug use are no longer reliable. Learning from the COVID-19 case, epidemiological variables correlate with predicting drug demand. This research includes data on ten major diseases in private hospital units for 2017–2022 to complete historical data on drug use. This study implements the Random Forest algorithm. The research method uses literature studies and processing field data from pharmaceutical installations. The analysis process uses KNIME software. The level of accuracy in predicting drug demand from historical drug use data was 77.272%, increasing to 81.818% with a model for predicting drug demand based on consumption cycles and classification of drug therapy groups. Furthermore, predictions of drug demand can consider variables recorded in medical records related to the seasonal frequency of diseases.

Terahertz wireless communication has been regarded as an emerging technology to satisfy the ever-increasing demand of ultra-high-speed wireless ***,affected by the imperfections of cheap and energy-efficient Terahertz devices,Terahertz signals suffer from serve hybrid distortions,including in-phase/quadrature imbalance,phase noise and nonlinearity,which degrade the demodulation performance *** improve the robustness against these hybrid distortions,an improved autoencoder is proposed,which includes coding the transmitted symbols at the transmitter and decoding the corresponding signals at the ***,due to the lack of information of Terahertz channel during the training of the autoencoder,a fitting network is proposed to approximate the characteristics of Terahertz channel,which provides an approximation of the gradients of *** results show that our proposed autoencoder with fitting network can recover the transmitted symbols under serious hybrid distortions,and improves the demodulation performance significantly.

Mobile devices (MDs) cannot fully run all computation/delay-sensitive tasks due to their limited computing resources. Mobile edge computing (MEC) meets the demand by providing massive resources for MDs and offloading task partitions to MEC servers. However, task offloading also brings communication delay and energy consumption. Therefore, it is challenging to associate resource-constrained MDs with appropriate MEC servers to minimize power consumption. To address this problem, a constrained mixed integer nonlinear program is formulated to optimize the total energy consumption of the system including MDs and MEC servers. To solve this problem, this work designs an improved meta-heuristic optimization algorithm called Self-adaptive and Multi-population Differential Annealed Optimization (SMDAO). Experimental results demonstrate that compared with its two state-of-the-art peers, the proposed SMDAO yields the best solution with the smallest total energy consumption in the least time. © 2023 IEEE.

Deformed spine radiograph spine segmentation can help doctors to analyze the disease site faster, which is a necessary part of the current development of competent healthcare. For scoliosis diagnosis, this paper designs an Attention-guided ResNet with an FPN-like Upsampling model(ARF-Net) for segmenting the cone part of the spine radiograph map. In this paper, ResNet50 is used as the backbone to propose the feature map. Then the Global-Coordinate Attention (GCA) attention mechanism is added to obtain the X-axis, Y-axis, and global features. Finally, through the SIMAMUP module, the feature map is upsampled to introduce more detailed information to prevent cone segmentation errors and to improve the cone segmentation capability. The final experimental findings demonstrate that the model described in this study has greater segmentation precision in the SpineWebl6 public dataset, with the Jaccard and Dice coefficients reaching 87.70% and 93.45%, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Education about health sciences has historically been limited in the curriculum of health professionals and largely inaccessible to the public. In practice, most of the health science education is still running conventionally. Supposedly with the advancement of technology and the use of the internet everywhere, learning such as e-learning can be important, especially in the health sector. Until this research was conducted, only 514 academic documents about e-learning in health sciences were found for 20 years from 2001 to 2020, obtained in searching on the Scopus database. This study presents a comprehensive overview of studies related to E-learning in the Health sciences sector. This study uses bibliometric analysis and indexed digital methods to map scientific publications throughout the world. This research employs the Scopus database to gather information, as well as the Scopus online analysis tool and Vosviewer to show the bibliometric network. The method consists with five stages: determining search keywords, initial search results, refinement of search results, initial compilation, and data analysis. Among the most published and indexed articles by Scopus, papers published by researchers in the United States have the highest number of publications (80), followed by United Kingdom (63) and Australia with 45 academic publications. The processed data shows the pattern and trend of increasing the number of international publications in E-learning in Health sciences field, which Scopus index. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. Facial Expression Recognition (FER) poses significant challenges due to various imaging conditions, including diverse head poses, lighting conditions, resolutions, and occlusions. Additionally, different personal attributes such as age, gender, and racial background further contribute to the complexity of FER. To accurately extract meaningful expression features amidst these interfering factors to enhance recognition accuracy and the model’s generalization, we propose a Self Decoupling-Reconstruction Network (SDRNet). Specifically, our approach involves two learning processes. In the first phase, the network is trained to decouple facial images with expressions into expression and neutral components. This process involves reconstructing neutral facial images and the original input, ensuring the preservation of meaningful expression components devoid of interference in the decoupling process. In the second learning phase, we employ simple convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to recognize the extracted expression components. Our method has achieved state-of-the-art results across multiple widely used datasets, providing substantial evidence of its effectiveness. Additionally, we demonstrate the robust generalization performance of our approach through cross-database evaluations.

Edge computing is a new architectural model that aims to offer computing, storage, and networking resources to support Internet of Things. Its primary strategy involves transferring computational tasks to the edge of network, which is closer to end-users. This paradigm facilitates offloading of computation, resulting in reduced latency and improved system performance. However, nodes located at the network edge have restricted energy and resources. As a result, running tasks entirely at the edge leads to higher energy consumption. This work proposes a novel three-tier offloading framework comprising of multiple mobile vehicles (MVs), a base station (BS), and a cloud data center (CDC). It jointly optimizes offloading rates of tasks, CPU computation rates of MVs, BS, and CDC, and the allocation of wireless bandwidth resources at MVs during partial computation offloading of tasks. It also considers limits of maximum computational resources and maximum delay of task execution. To further reduce the total system energy consumption, this work actively caches execution codes of tasks in MEC servers to reduce data transmission energy of MVs, which minimizes the total system energy consumption. This work develops a mixed integer nonlinear program and designs a mixed meta-heuristic algorithm with a multi-strategy adaptive particle swarm optimizer. Simulation results demonstrate that it outperforms various state-of-the-art algorithms by achieving lower energy consumption in fewer iterations. © 2023 IEEE.

Attendance systems have become more modern, and one of the biometric systems without physical contact is face recognition. However, many face-based attendance systems still carry out attendance individually and cannot detect multiple faces simultaneously. In addition, capturing facial data in real-time is still a challenge because the relatively large distance between the camera and the individual reduces the ability to recognize faces. The general solution is to use super-resolution to generate better-quality faces while maintaining the main facial recognition features. One technique still being researched is super-resolution generative adversarial networks (SRGAN). SRGAN can enlarge the resolution of captured images and maintain image quality sufficient for face recognition. The attendance system can be easily integrated into edge devices such as the Jetson Nano. This paper proposes automatic and effective attendance systems with the super-resolution technique to detect and recognize faces in low-resolution input. The experimental results show that using face data capture with a resolution of 40 × 40 pixels and a four-fold magnification results in a resolution of 160 × 160 pixels. Combining Face SRGAN with FaceNet architecture as the basis of face recognition can achieve an accuracy rate of 78.19% and an F1-Score of 81.13% with an average processing time of 1.61 seconds per frame on a PC and 14.55 seconds per frame on a Jetson Nano at an average of face recognition per frame of as many as up to 8 faces simultaneously.
