Population clustering methods, which consider the position and fitness of individuals to form sub-populations in multi-population algorithms, have shown high efficiency in tracking the moving global optimum in dynamic optimization problems. However, most of these methods use a fixed population size, making them inflexible and inefficient when the number of promising regions is unknown. The lack of a functional relationship between the population size and the number of promising regions significantly degrades performance and limits an algorithm’s agility to respond to dynamic changes. To address this issue, we propose a new species-based particle swarm optimization with adaptive population size and number of sub-populations for solving dynamic optimization problems. The proposed algorithm also benefits from a novel systematic adaptive deactivation component that, unlike the previous deactivation components, adapts the computational resource allocation to the sub-populations by considering various characteristics of both the problem and the sub-populations. We evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm for the Generalized Moving Peaks Benchmark and compare the results with several peer approaches. This paper presents an empiric results of aspectbased sentiment analysis in education to extract and classify opinions, sentiments, evaluations, attitudes, and emotions from newly graduates of an online learning program. As part of continuous education monitoring system, the sentiment analysis process produces valuable input to leverage service quality of online learning program. In this study, the aspect-based sentiment analysis is implemented to analyze a set of feedbacks from 162 newly graduate from Binus Online program majoring in Accounting, Management, information System, and computer science. The important qualitative results of this study are confirmation that the main benefits of online learning from student perspective are mainly: the knowledge they gained from the program, learning guidance, reliable student team to work on thesis, quality of education support system, and learning happiness. © 2022 IEEE.

Over the past few years, there has been a significant rise in the number of fall accidents occurring among elderly individuals, a problem that has been accentuated with to the aging population. Researchers and developers have focused their efforts on investigating and creating various fall detection methods that utilize an accelerometer. However, conventional fall detection methods typically target specific positions where accelerometers are placed. In addition, they suffer from low accuracy which can be attributed to the fact that the classification algorithms commonly employed, such as the support vector machine (SVM) and the random forest (RF), are not specialized in making predictions based on time series data. In this paper, we propose the fall detection method based on a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network, using an accelerometer. In the proposed method, four kinds of possession positions are set: (i) in hand, (ii) inside a chest pocket, (iii) inside a waist pocket, and (iv) in a bag. The acceleration data collected are classified using the LSTM classifies into one of four classes: (i) standing, (ii) walking, (iii) falling, and (iv) lying down. The results of the multi-class classification are further reclassified into two classes, i.e., fall and non-fall. The experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms the conventional methods in terms of fall detection accuracy.

Email spam detection is crucial for ensuring a positive user experience and maintaining communication security. This study presents a novel spam detection approach leveraging Logistic Regression, optimized through hyperparameter tuning and enhanced with Explainable Artificial Intelligence. The proposed method is evaluated on a large-scale dataset of emails collected from a real-world spam detection system. Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency is utilized for feature extraction, converting email text into numerical representations. XAI introduces interpretability by highlighting critical features such as "pill," "PHP," and "Businessweek," which indicate spam classification patterns. Metrics such as precision, recall, and the confusion matrix are employed to assess the model’s performance, ensuring a balanced evaluation. Hyperparameter optimization using Grid Search CV achieves an optimal regularization parameter (C = 100) and maximum iterations (maxiter=100), resulting in an impressive F1 score of 98.76%, accuracy of 98.82%, precision of 98.62%, and recall of 98.90%.

With the development of IoT technology, various kinds of data are generated by IoT devices. Some of this data contains information on geographical location and time. We refer to such data as spatio-temporal data (STD). Since the 'local production and consumption' of STD is effective for location-dependent applications, we have proposed an STD retention system that utilizes vehicles as data sources. STD sources ranges from simple sensory data to large video data. However, since previous methods assumed to retain an STD consisting of only one packet, retention of large STD sources may suffer from frequent packet collisions due to the increase in the number of packet transmissions. In this paper, we propose a data completeness-aware transmission control mechanism for large STD retention. Our simulation results showed that the proposed scheme reduces channel collision by suppressing the forwarding of incomplete data, and achieved a nearly 100% coverage rate. © 2022 IEEE.

Due to the vagueness and uncertainties due to the coronavirus, it is crucial to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the World Health Organization and the authorities. Therefore an effective control system is required that minimizes the vagueness and uncertainties of people who are on the front line during the period of this pandemic checking the entering persons in an indoor area where it is necessary to maintain a distance of six feet from one another to avoid the spread of coronavirus. In this research work, a robust and efficient system has been proposed that takes protective mask and feverishness values as input and applies them using the fuzzy logic algorithm. If these input values are according to the rules defined in the system, then the door will open as an output. Otherwise, the door will not open. It is, finally, analyzing the output values. This fuzzy model had been implemented using a microcontroller. The genuine difference in the duty cycle of the microcontroller’s output pulse was measured using a 100 MHz digital oscilloscope. Our proposed system was compared with different systems reported in the literature. This work reduces the human effort as well as the negligence of people and builds up the management system without the labor in a mint. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital tourism village potentially accelerates rural development hence improving a country's economy. The Indonesian government has developed hundreds of tourism villages in recent years but has yet to popularize the development of digital villages. technology design and development are pivotal factors in tourism villages' digitalization. Therefore, the development digital tourism village must consider village readiness by measuring technology adoption readiness or technology acceptance of the corresponding stakeholders. This paper presents the technology acceptance analysis in the context of a digital tourism village. We use a quantitative analysis approach using the TAM-UTAUT model with data collected from a questionnaire of 101 villagers (n=101) in Pasanggrahan Village, West Java, Indonesia. This research uses machine learning with clustering procedures to analyze the level of technology adoption readiness by implementing K-means Clustering algorithm. In addition, to observe the significance of each influencing factor to the technology adoption readiness level, feature importance analysis approach using Extra tree classifier algorithm is employed. The research finds that attitude toward use, perceived ease of use, and facilitating condition-have a considerable impact on the degree of readiness for technology adoption. On the other hand, the perceived utility and social impact are found to have minimal bearing on the preparedness level for technology adoption. Perceived ease of use and facilitating conditions are the most important factors to afford the acceleration of technology adoption readiness. The research contributes to the development of a digital tourism village and the analysis of technology adoption readiness using machine learning.

Depression has become a major global public health challenge. Social media texts reflect users’ emotional and psychological states, providing a valuable data source for depression detection through natural language analysis. However, current research still faces limitations in modeling the collaborative representation of user texts and dynamic behaviors. To address this, we propose MVDep, a model that integrates multi-view features to enhance social text representation for depression detection. Specifically, we enhance text representation by investigating depression from multi-view, including social media texts, user profiles, and social behaviors, enabling more effective depression detection. First, we conduct initial filtering of social media texts using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), and then screen out the uncertain domain of data samples based on the three-way decision (3WD). Next, we extract quantified user profiles and social behavioral features to enhance the representation of depression tendencies for uncertain domain samples. Finally, we fuse the multi-view features derived from social media texts, user profiles and social behaviors, improving the model’s ability to detect depression. We evaluate our model on the SWDD dataset, demonstrating its superiority over state-of-the-art baseline models in depression detection tasks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

At present, in the face of the huge and complex data in cloud computing, the parallel computing ability of quantum computing is particularly important. Quantum principal component analysis algorithm is used as a method of quantum state tomography. We perform feature extraction on the eigenvalue matrix of the density matrix after feature decomposition to achieve dimensionality reduction, proposed quantum principal component extraction algorithm (QPCE). Compared with the classic algorithm, this algorithm achieves an exponential speedup under certain conditions. The specific realization of the quantum circuit is given. And considering the limited computing power of the client, we propose a quantum homomorphic cipher dimension reduction scheme (QHEDR), the client can encrypt the quantum data and upload it to the cloud for computing. And through the quantum homomorphic encryption scheme to ensure security. After the calculation is completed, the client updates the key locally and decrypts the cipher result. We have implemented a quantum cipher dimensionality reduction scheme implemented in the quantum cloud, which does not require interaction and ensures safety. In addition, we have carried out experimental verification on the QPCE algorithm on IBM's real computing platform. Experimental results show that the algorithm can perform cipher dimension reduction safely and effectively. © 2021 IEEE.

The strategy of transforming vocal discourse signals into text using records is known as programmed discourse acknowledgment (ASR). In the ongoing time of the PC unrest, the ASR has a huge impact in further developing the client experience while communicating with the PCs in a characteristic manner. This study presents an air terminal enquiry framework in view of ASR. The program was made solely for the Telugu language.
