The Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) is an annual competition for autonomous mobile robots held in the U.S. One of the vital functions of success in this competition is the autonomous lane-following function, which requires stable lane line recognition while avoiding obstacles and staying within lanes. The most popular approach for lane line recognition employs image sensors such as cameras. However, this approach has inherent weaknesses due to changes in outdoor lighting conditions, which are caused by limitations in the dynamic range of the image sensor. To overcome the weaknesses of image sensor-based lane line recognition, we propose a new method that utilizes the reflection intensity of the point cloud acquired by 3D LiDAR. The combination of point clouds and intensity enables the detection of both lane lines and obstacles without the effect of lighting condition changes. In this paper, we propose a novel, safer, and more robust lane-following algorithm that uses only 3D LiDAR, without the need for an image sensor. Lane line detection is performed by extracting a group of points with reflection intensities within a certain range while estimating the direction of the lane line and using a reflection intensity threshold value. Detected lane lines and obstacles are represented as a one-dimensional evaluation cost function, and a local target destination is determined in the direction with the lowest cost. This enables robust control regardless of outdoor lighting conditions. The performance of lane-following, obstacle avoidance, and real-time operation were evaluated in a simulation environment.

Students “attendance in class is one important success parameter in face-to-face learning processes. Conventional attendance systems, such as paper-based attendance sheets or identity card systems, require a long time in the manual recapitulation process. Without additional verifications, even computer vision-based methods are prone to fraudulent practices by the students instead of gaining their excitement and attention in a class. To stimulate students” attention in a class, this work designs an intelligent class attendance system, in which facial pattern and smile recognition are implemented by using the latter as an additional task-based verification to reduce the risks of fake attendance. For the face recognition module, this pilot study used FaceNet as a feature extractor combined with SVM for classification, whereas the Haar cascade algorithm is used for recognizing smiles. This face recognition pipeline was implemented as a service installed on minicomputers or Internet of Things (IoT) devices in each classroom and connected to an IP camera. Every recorded attendance will be sent as a notification to a mobile application for students that requires their active participation to confirm it with a smiling self-photo. The proposed pipeline obtained 92.86% accuracy on the test data, and 66.67% accuracy when evaluated in a real-life simulation setting through the implemented system. The lower accuracy in the simulation indicated that further improvements are indispensable, especially since the model obtained 28.57% False Negative Rate. Future studies will need to acquire more data and experiment with more efficient methods of attendance verification.

Patient privacy and data protection have been crucial concerns in Ehealthcare systems for many *** modern-day applications,patient data usually holds clinical imagery,records,and other medical ***,the Internet of Medical Things(IoMT),equipped with cloud computing,has come out to be a beneficial paradigm in the healthcare ***,the openness of networks and systems leads to security threats and illegal ***,reliable,fast,and robust security methods need to be developed to ensure the safe exchange of healthcare data generated from various image sensing and other IoMT-driven devices in the IoMT *** paper presents an image protection scheme for healthcare applications to protect patients’medical image data exchanged in IoMT *** proposed security scheme depends on an enhanced 2D discrete chaotic map and allows dynamic substitution based on an optimized highly-nonlinear S-box and diffusion to gain an excellent security *** optimized S-box has an excellent nonlinearity score of *** new image protection scheme is efficient enough to exhibit correlation values less than 0.0022,entropy values higher than 7.999,and NPCR values around 99.6%.To reveal the efficacy of the scheme,several comparison studies are *** comparison studies reveal that the novel protection scheme is robust,efficient,and capable of securing healthcare imagery in IoMT systems.

Wind power forecasting plays a crucial role in optimizing the integration of wind energy into the grid by predicting wind patterns and energy *** enhances the efficiency and reliability of renewable energy *** approaches inform energy management strategies,reduce reliance on fossil fuels,and support the broader transition to sustainable energy *** primary goal of this study is to introduce an effective methodology for estimating wind power through temporal data *** research advances an optimized Multilayer Perceptron(MLP)model using recently proposedmetaheuristic optimization algorithms,namely the FireHawk Optimizer(FHO)and the Non-Monopolize Search(NO).A modified version of FHO,termed FHONO,is developed by integrating NO as a local search mechanism to enhance the exploration capability and address the shortcomings of the original *** developed FHONO is then employed to optimize the MLP for enhanced wind power *** effectiveness of the proposed FHONO-MLP model is validated using renowned datasets from wind turbines in *** results of the comparative analysis between FHONO-MLP,conventionalMLP,and other optimized versions of MLP show that FHONO-MLP outperforms the others,achieving an average RootMean Square Error(RMSE)of 0.105,Mean Absolute Error(MAE)of 0.082,and Coefficient of Determination(R^(2))of 0.967 across all *** findings underscore the significant enhancement in predictive accuracy provided by FHONO and demonstrate its effectiveness in improving wind power forecasting.

Agriculture has a lot of relations with SDG from United Nations especially in end hungers and sustainable agriculture. One of factor important in agriculture is weather. Weather prediction is very important in agriculture. Weather greatly influences agricultural yields and the types of crops to be planted. Weather predictions, especially temperature and humidity, can be done using time series data analysis. Current developments in deep learning enable more accurate predictions of temperature and humidity based on time series dataset. Some deep learning models can be used to predict data based on training using time series data. The deep programming models used include Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). The Transformer deep learning model, which was first introduced in 2017, is a sequence-to-sequence model which is very suitable for predicting time series data. This paper will explain temperature and humidity prediction using the Transformer deep learning model. Experimental results show that the Transformer model can predict temperature and humidity based on training results using a time series dataset. The accuracy obtained by the Transformer deep learning model is better compared to the LSTM deep learning model as indicated by lower MAE, MSE and RMSE values compared to the LSTM model.

To day's society is different from the past, where the speed of the internet is getting more sophisticated, and the existing gadget technology is getting faster, and of course, this is also changing the lifestyle of today's people, which of course almost half of their daily life is spent in front of gadgets. On the one hand, this is undoubtedly very good and supports humans in carrying out their daily life activities, but on the other hand, this raises new problems where humans start to lack time to communicate and socialize with each other and often making them stressed and anxious because they are already tired and do not know how to socialize anymore. This paper begins with a model and implementation of a very simple mobile application that behaves as a social media inspired by *** as a social media for academics. The design of this mobile application is done by using use case diagrams to describe existing processes and class diagrams to describe class relationships.

The government of Bangladesh has implemented the “Stay Home” policy following the WHO recommendation to resist the community transmission of Covid-19. As a result, the routine activities of all government, semi-government establishments, including educational institutions, are severely affected, and the country's economic growth becomes slowed down. To overcome such a situation, the relevant authorities have introduced the “Work from Home” policy for the employees and “Remote Education” for students. However, due to the persistence of multi-dimensional socio-economic problems, many employees and students face big challenges in performing their regular jobs while adopting such a policy. Consequently, enormous psychological anxiety has been developed for all people, including students, parents, employees, etc., and concurrently created severe changes in their behavior. This study aims to analyze the reasons for the behavioral changes of the employees, students, academic staff, and family members of different ages due to psychological anxiety, stress, or physical issues. A comprehensive online-based survey has been carried out on people working in various sectors in Bangladesh. A modified Apriori Algorithm has been used to sort out the associations between the causes and types of behavioral changes. Analyzed data revealed a massive human behavioral change in most participants. This finding indicates that the negligence of those significant human behavioral changes may cause a higher risk of creating psychological imbalance. Therefore, there is a need to have a solid understanding of the reasons for the behavioral changes and set up standard guidelines to maintain “Work from Home” in this Covid-19 situation to avoid psychological imbalance. Based on this study, some suggestions have been given for implementation by the government on an urgent basis. © 2023

Secret key generation(SKG)is an emerging technology to secure wireless communication from ***,the SKG at the physical layer is an alternate solution over traditional cryptographic methods due to wireless channels’***,the physical layer secret key generation(PHY-SKG)depends on two fundamental parameters,i.e.,coherence time and power *** coherence time for PHY-SKG is not applicable to secure wireless *** is because coherence time is for a certain period of ***,legitimate users generate the secret keys(SKs)with a shorter key length in ***,an attacker can quickly get information about the ***,the attacker can easily get valuable information from authentic ***,we considered the scheme of power allocation to enhance the secret key generation rate(SKGR)between legitimate ***,we propose an alternative method,i.e.,a power allocation,to improve the *** results show 72%higher SKGR in bits/sec by increasing power *** addition,the power transmission is based on two important parameters,i.e.,epsilon and power loss factor,as given in power transmission *** found out that a higher value of epsilon impacts power transmission and subsequently impacts the *** SKGR is approximately 40.7%greater at 250 from 50 mW at epsilon=*** value of SKGR is reduced to 18.5%at 250 mW when epsilonis ***,the transmission power is also measured against the different power loss factor values,i.e.,3.5,3,and 2.5,respectively,at epsilon=***,it is concluded that the value of epsilon and power loss factor impacts power transmission and,consequently,impacts the SKGR.

Perspective-taking, which enables individuals to consider the thoughts and objectives of another, is well established to be a successful strategy for encouraging pro-social behavior in human-computer interactions. Nowadays, perspective-taking is no longer limited to text; it is now more frequently used in virtual reality (VR). However, most previous research has focused on simulating human-human interactions in the real world in VR by providing participants with experiences connected to different moral tasks. In this study, we investigated whether participants’ prosocial behaviors toward robots would change if they experienced an altruistic VR task involving robots from the perspective of different robots. Our findings show that participants who had the help-receiver-view exhibited more altruistic behaviors toward a robot than those who had the help-provider-view one in a dictator game. We believe that this work is the first attempt to investigate the relationship between perspective-taking in a VR environment and changes in prosocial behavior in human-robot interaction.
