Transformer has recently been introduced into point cloud completion and achieved inspirational performance on 3D point cloud generation. However, the low-level local geometric features are ignored in the existing feature extraction network, and this leads to the loss of geometry in the recovery results. Meanwhile, FoldingNet models that estimate neighborhood information from predicted center points cannot effectively recover geometric information. In this paper, we propose a point cloud completion network based on local geometric feature reuse and neighboring recovery with Taylor approximation (PST-Net). Specifically, a feature extraction network named Skip-DGCNN is constructed to integrate local and global geometric features to reduce the geometry loss during the feature extraction. In addition, we propose a computational model through Taylor approximation to recover the geometry information in the neighborhood of the prediction center. Moreover, we design the TSMB module corresponding to Taylor's approximation to maintain the end-to-end training mode. The proposed method is extensively evaluated and compared with previous methods on three datasets including PCN, ShapeNet-55 and ShapeNet-34. The proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art (SOTA) and PoinTr on ShapeNet-55 and ShapeNet-34. The complexity analysis on the PCN dataset shows that the number of FLOPs of our approach is 60.79% lower than that of the SOTA. Visual comparisons demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively and accurately complete the geometry of missing parts.

With the rapid advancement of physical-layer security technology, the covert and secure communication has become crucial in safeguarding wireless communication systems. In this paper, we propose a joint covert and secure transmission scheme for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) assisted cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (CNOMA) systems. In the CNOMA system, a greedy relay transmits the confidential information to the far user (Carol), with the assistance of the near user (Bob). Meanwhile, as a SWIPT node, Bob is self-sustained by harvesting energy from relay. What's more, a warden (Alice) and non-colluding eavesdroppers (Eves) always attempt to detect and capture the confidential information, respectively. To counteract the attacks from Alice and Eves, a jamming-assisted scheme is employed. For the proposed system model, we derive closed-form expressions for the detection error probability (DEP) and the average minimum detection error probability (AMDEP) of Alice. Additionally, closed-form expressions for the outage probability (OP) of users and the intercept probability (IP) of Eves are obtained. Furthermore, to maximize the effective covert rate (ECR) of Carol, an optimization problem is formulated, subject to covertness and security constraints. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the impact of the system parameters on covert and secure performance, with the results showing perfect agreement with the theoretical analysis. © 2014 IEEE.

This systematic review provides a comprehensive overview of the methods used to integrate genomic and clinical data in cancer prediction. The review includes 19 studies across various cancers, including breast, colorectal, melanoma, lung, pancreatic, and thyroid. The studies employed different methods to combine genomic and clinical data, including weighted polygenic risk scores, genetic and non-genetic risk scores, and different machine learning algorithms. The results show significant improvements in model prediction performance accuracy across multiple studies. The review highlights the potential benefits of integrating genetic and phenotypic information to improve disease risk prediction models and inform personalized healthcare strategies.

The paradigm of polygenic risk score (PRS) has recently been getting much wider attention. PRS is a mathematical aggregate reflection of the risk conferred by deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) variations to estimate the susceptibility of people to some certain onset of diseases. It is enumerated by summing risk alleles which are weighted by effect sizes in a large population derived from genome-wide association study (GWAS) where the gene variations are reproducible in different sets of GWAS. The emerging of direct-to-consumer genetics testing has tremendously increased access to genetics testing for broader users. The result of this genetics testing can be used as a disease predictive tool. One of the applications is PRS. PRS is a mathematical aggregate reflection of the risk conferred by DNA variations to estimate the susceptibility of people to some certain onset of diseases. However, the accessibility of these heavy statistics and mathematical models is limited to certain groups such as physicians and researchers. The objective of this study is to propose a conceptual design of web based PRS calculation available for public users. The users can maximize the utilization of their genotype data as a predictive tool for various disease risks. The design presented in this paper including the proposed class diagram, use case diagram, user journey diagram, and a series of user interface mock-ups. This result can be used as a prototype to gain users' feedback before implementing in production stage. © 2021 IEEE.

This research explores the vital role of penetration testing in cybersecurity, specifically its alignment with ISO 27001:2022, COBIT 2019, and NIST CSF standards in the context of crypto asset exchange management. These sectors grapple with rapidly evolving threat landscapes, necessitating robust cybersecurity strategies. However, the integration of penetration testing with these standards remains underexamined. Through a comprehensive approach, including literature reviews, surveys, case studies, and interviews, this study investigates the incorporation of penetration testing into an organization's cybersecurity. It unveils the current state of penetration testing practices, interprets ISO 27001:2022, COBIT 2019, and NIST CSF perspectives, and pinpoints integration challenges and opportunities. This study offers practical insights and best practices for integrating penetration testing into cybersecurity frameworks by emphasizing alignment. It underscores the importance of aligning penetration testing with information security standards in the crypto asset exchange management sector, enhancing security, proactively identifying vulnerabilities, and effectively mitigating risks in the context of growing crypto asset importance. This research provides invaluable guidance for safeguarding digital assets in this evolving domain.

Touchscreen Controls for Future Flight Deck Design: Investigating Visual Parameters on Human-computer Interactions between Pilot Flying and Pilot Monitoring

This study is concentrated on investigating the different visual behaviors and HCI patterns between pilot flying and pilot monitoring while interacting with touchscreen controls on the flight deck. Twelve participants with flight experiences (M=1150, SD=4019.9) attended this research. The apparatus included Future Systems Simulator (FSS), eye tracker, and system usability scale (SUS). The designated scenario in the experiment was an instrument landing. All participants were required to perform two instrument landings in two different roles, pilot flying (PF) and pilot monitoring (PM). The order of role of randomized to eliminate practice effects. The results revealed that fixation counts of pilot flying were different among four AOIs, F (3, 9) = 10.58, p = .003, ηp2 = .78. On the other hand, the FC of pilot monitoring demonstrated a significant difference among four AOIs, F (3, 8) = 8.69, p = .007, ηp2 = .77. There was a significant difference between PF and PM on the subjective assessment of SUS total score, t (11) =3.85, p = 0.003, Cohen’s d= 1.11. The application of a touchscreen can integrate input and output in the same area for visual feedback. There is a rising need to simplify the future flight deck design based on the principle of human-centered design. Conclusion: The application of touchscreen flight controls may have the potential to facilitate single-pilot operations flight deck design in the future. TSCs considerations must be consistent with human information processing and pilots’ operational characteristics on the future flight deck. © 2023 The Aeronautical and Astronautical Society of the Republic of China. In challenging operational environments such as underground buildings beneath roadways, reliability and performance of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for electric vehicles (EVs) heavily hinge on the operating temperature of the magnetic couplers. Addressing this, this study introduces a novel approach employing heat sink and thermoelectric cooler technologies to mitigate temperature rise in magnetic couplers, which is particularly crucial for high-power applications. Utilizing ANSYS simulation, the study evaluates a WPT high-power application coil model with a total output power of 2 KW and an 18 cm air gap, with a 3.5 cm adjacent alignment to enhance thermal performance on both transmitter and receiver sides. Results demonstrate significant thermal enhancement, reducing the temperature of coils from 63◦ C to 54◦ C solely with the heat sink and further down to 48◦ C with the combined implementation of both heat sink and thermoelectric cooler. These measures effectively dissipate heat from the coils into the surrounding air, ensuring system efficiency and stability while facilitating functionality of system components. © 2024, Electromagnetics Academy. Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are episodes of high concentrations of algae that are potentially toxic for human consumption. Mollusc farming can be affected by HABs because, as filter feeders, they can accumulate high concentrations of marine biotoxins in their tissues. To avoid the risk to human consumption, harvesting is prohibited when toxicity is detected. In cases where chemical analyses are not possible, the legislation allows the authorities responsible for monitoring, by a monitoring program, to make decisions on the presence of risk factors. At present, the closing of the production areas is based on expert knowledge and lacks predictive models to support it. This work aims to create a predictive model capable of supporting decision making when making decisions on days when it is not possible to carry out a previous sampling. For this purpose, we have made a comparison between hybrid machine learning models when estimating the state of production areas. We have obtained recall values higher than 93% with a good generalization capacity. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Multipath QUIC (MPQUIC) is an emerging multi-path transport protocol that lets a mobile client simultaneously use several wireless networks (e.g., Wi-Fi and cellular) in 5G and beyond. MPQUIC's performance heavily relies on its scheduler, which determines a path or several ones for sending packets in the upcoming time slot. Despite numerous efforts, the traditional design of MPQUIC schedulers can not handle wireless networks' dynamicity. Recently, a learning-based approach has shown the potential to bypass such limitations of the MPQUIC scheduler with various learning-based schedulers proposed in the literature. However, the existing works only consider the scheduling task in a single client context. When applying such a scheduler to multiple client scenarios (likely to occur in practice), they suffer from a so-called rush scheduling phenomenon. More specifically, the packet forwarding decisions made by a scheduler are only accountable to one client, resulting in conflicts of interest with other clients' schedulers. Consequently, it may harm the network performance. This paper addresses the issue and designs a learning-based MPQUIC scheduler considering the existence of multiple clients. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to do so. We propose MuLeS, a learning-based scheduler for MPQUIC in the multi-client scenario. MuLeS uses a central controller, which allows it to observe the state of all flows in the network. Our evaluation results show that MuLeS outperforms contemporary schedulers in terms of various metrics, including download time and loss rate. Notably, MuLeS reduces the average download time by 7%-16% compared to the other schedulers.

We have developed a visual programming tool called SmrAI for function testing, and investigated whether wrapping existing source code with Scratch Blocks is an effective means of mitigating the shortage of programming personnel in the manufacturing. SmrAI is based on Smalruby, which can convert Scratch Blocks into Ruby code. In addition, SmrAI introduces two new sets of Blocks that wrap existing Ruby libraries for function testing. Since existing tools and libraries were utilized, the cost of developing SmrAI was low, and there were no changes in the function testing procedure. We conducted a verification test using staff members who were familiar with the function testing process but had little or no programming experience, and confirmed that they were able to program using SmrAI and that they had confidence in its business applications. These results are expected to contribute to the diversification and increase of programming personnel responsible for function test programming. © 2022 Japan Society for Software science and technology.
