Sleep is the natural state of relaxation for human being. Sleep quality is an essential yet frequently neglected aspect of sleep in general. Sleep quality is essential because it allows the body to restore itself and prepare for the next day. The standard method for evaluating sleep quality was subjective evaluation. Actigraphy devices, which can measure the sleep cycle, are now widely available. This study developed a method using Fuzzy Logic and an actigraphy device to measure and classify sleep quality. The fuzzy logic method was developed in several stages, which are determining the sleep quality measurement parameters, constructing the fuzzy set for each input variable, and developing the fuzzy rules. To evaluate the proposed fuzzy model, five individuals were invited to participate in the experiment and required to complete the PSQI subjective sleep questionnaire. The evaluation result shows that our proposed Fuzzy model achieves lower error compared to the existing method.

In real world applications of multiclass classification models, misclassification in an important class (e.g., stop sign) can be significantly more harmful than in other classes (e.g., no parking). Thus, it is crucial to improve the recall of an important class while maintaining overall accuracy. For this problem, we found that improving the separation of important classes relative to other classes in the feature space is effective. Existing methods that give a class-sensitive penalty for cross-entropy loss do not improve the separation. Moreover, the methods designed to improve separations between all classes are unsuitable for our purpose because they do not consider the important classes. To achieve the separation, we propose a loss function that explicitly gives loss for the feature space, called class-sensitive additive angular margin (CAMRI) loss. CAMRI loss is expected to reduce the variance of an important class due to the addition of a penalty to the angle between the important class features and the corresponding weight vectors in the feature space. In addition, concentrating the penalty on only the important class hardly sacrifices separating the other classes. Experiments on CIFAR-10, GTSRB, and AwA2 showed that CAMRI loss could improve the recall of a specific class without sacrificing accuracy. In particular, compared with GTSRB's second-worst class recall when trained with cross-entropy loss, CAMRI loss improved recall by 9%. © 2023 The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.

Rapid development in vehicular technology has caused more automated vehicle control to increase on the roads. Studies showed that driving in mixed traffic with an autonomous vehicle (AV) had a negative impact on the time headway (THW) of conventional vehicles (CVs) (i.e., driven by humans). To address this issue, there is a need to equip CV with visual advanced driver assistance systems (ADASs) that helps the driver maintain safe headway when driving near AVs. This study examines the perception of drivers using visual ADAS and their associated risk while driving behind the AV at constant and varying speeds. The preliminary results showed that while visual ADAS could help drivers keep the safe THW, it could affect drivers' ability to react to emergencies. This implies that visual modality alone might not be sufficient and therefore requires some other feedback or intelligent transport systems to help drivers maintain safe driving in a mixed-Traffic condition. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. Monitoring of vehicle conditions is needed as one of the securities in driving because one of the accident rates is negligence in checking the condition of the vehicle. This study aims to help reduce the level of accidents and increase human awareness for vehicle conditions, especially minibus type vehicles. The system works to provide information on the condition of vehicles sourced from the Engine Control Unit (ECU). ECU data cars are obtained by SNIP traffic broadcast message and ask for data directly at the ECU. The car can provide vehicle information using a Canbus communication protocol through the OBD-II socket. Vehicle information can be seen by users through the website in real time. Based on the evaluation from the user side, this system provides ease of monitoring vehicle conditions because it can be accessed via the internet using various kinds of devices. © 2023 The Authors. The Smart Power Grid (SPG) is pivotal in orchestrating and managing demand response in contemporary smart cities, leveraging the prowess of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Within the immersive SPG environment, the ubiquitous deployment of smart meters stands as a testament to their paramount importance in the realm of vigilant monitoring and oversight. These smart meters are installed on high-tension electricity lines and transmit information about electricity outages and other issues to the utility center. To access services from utility centers, smart meters need to communicate securely over a public channel, even though the network itself is insecure. However, potential attacks from adversaries ( Ad) can exploit this communication. Therefore, protecting this communication is of utmost importance. Several privacy-preserving authentication protocols designed for SPG have been introduced in the literature. Nevertheless, a significant number of these protocols exhibit vulnerabilities to diverse security attacks. This article introduces a lightweight and anonymous authentication protocol specifically designed to address these concerns in the SPG environment. Our protocol ensures both security and efficiency, surpassing other comparable protocols in terms of its lightweight nature. By employing both formal and informal analysis, we showcase the robustness of our protocol against significant attacks while remaining lightweight. The proposed protocol provides added security features and incurs 23.8879% lower computation cost than related protocols. Consequently, our protocol is highly suitable for implementation in the SPG system. © 2020 IEEE.

Given a black box oracle that evaluates a univariate polynomial p(x) of a degree d, we seek its zeros, aka the roots of the equation. At FOCS 2016, Louis and Vempala approximated within an absolutely largest zero of such a real-rooted polynomial at the cost of the evaluation of Newton’s ratio (formula presented) points x and then extended this algorithm to approximation of an absolutely largest eigenvalue of a symmetric matrix at a record Boolean cost. By applying distinct approach and techniques we obtain much more general results at the same computational cost. Our use of Cauchy integrals and randomization is non-trivial and pioneering in this field. Somewhat surprisingly, the Boolean complexity of the accelerated versions of our algorithms in [25, 26] reached below the known lower bounds on the Boolean complexity of polynomial root-finding. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

We have been developing MEIMAT, meiji micro-processor (MPU) architecture design tools. Our MEIMAT has a feature to implement arbitrary instructions. However, the MEIMAT does not have a function to simulate those instructions. Therefore, we have newly developed a function of simulation to dynamically execute the designed instructions. The result of this dynamic simulation can be measured by the developed module viewers. It is also demonstrated that a higher performance MPU can be designed by our improved MEIMAT. © 2022 IEEE.

A title provides readers a succinct representation of the whole document and consequently helps them get the gist without going through the details. Although the research of title generation has been investigated for decades, it still leaves much space to improve due to its requirements of complex tasks such as language understanding and text synthesis. To perform unsupervised learning of titles, we employ a generative adversarial network (GAN) without paired training data. A sequence-to-sequence model with an auto-encoder architecture is adapted to model the generator. The readability gap between human-written and machine-generated text still needs to reduce. As n-gram model has been successfully used as a language model for solving the language tasks, we present n-gram discriminators in the GAN model to increase the readability of machine-generated titles. The proposed model is tested on the English Gigaword dataset and the experimental results demonstrate that our approach obtains encouraging results. © 2022 IEEE.

For wind power systems to operate successfully and efficiently, accurate forecasting is critical. The integration of large wind farms with smart grid technology mainly depend on accurate models for wind power output prediction. This study introduces a neural basis expansion approach named N-BEATS (neural basis expansion analysis for interpretable time series forecasting) for time series multi-step wind power forecasting. N-BEATS is a deep neural network architecture composed of multiple fully connected layers, arranged with both forward and backward residual connections. The performance of N-BEATS was benchmarked using classical approaches including AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Seasonal AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA), Holt-Winters, and the recurrent neural network named Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). All models hyperparameters were tuned by Bayesian optimization. The N-BEATS model demonstrated superior forecasting scores and outperformed traditional methods in metrics such as mean absolute error and root mean square error for different forecasting horizons. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the disparity in the levels of difficulty presented by the several tasks, doing domain adaptation in an adversarial way may result in an imbalanced learning process. In the MNIST dataset, this phenomenon also manifests itself in the form of domain adaptation for color-shifted distribution. In this particular situation, the domain classifier has a higher tendency to fit more quickly, but the category classifier fits quite poorly in the learning process. In order to address this problem, a new hyper-parameter has been added to the loss function in order to strike a compromise between the learning speed of the domain and the categorical classifier. By using this technique, the categorical classifier may better match the data while still maintaining the same level of performance as the domain classifier. In order to determine whether or not making use of this hyper-parameter is useful, the phenomena in question is examined using three distinct color-shifted settings. Following the evaluations, it was discovered that the newly introduced hyper-parameter is capable of coping with imbalanced learning while simultaneously engaging in domain adaptation. © 2023 IEEE.
