Stroke is becoming one of the most common diseases in modern society. Stroke caught in the early phase has a higher potential for recovery as it can be treated before the worsening of the patient's condition. Detection through brain CT images with deep learning has a favorable impact. Residual Attention Network (RAN) architecture is proposed to perform stroke detection. RAN builds upon the regular ResNet architecture by incorporating an attention layer within each residual block to extract meaningful information. RAN combines the advantages of residual connections and attention mechanisms. RAN is able to prevent vanishing gradient problem while focusing on the most important features. RAN yields an accuracy of 96.12% surpassing the regular ResNet with an accuracy of 94.40%. RAN shows great potential, especially in fields that require high accuracy and efficient feature extraction. This paper explores the effectiveness of Residual Attention Networks and their potential applications in areas requiring robust and accurate feature extraction. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.

Technology and information growth enable internet users to play a role in disseminating information, including hoax news. One way that to avoid hoax news is to look for sources of information, but valid news is not always perceived as 'true' by individuals because human judgments can lead to bias. Several studies on automatic hoax news classification have been carried out using various deep learning approaches such as the pre-trained multilingual transformer model. This study focuses on classifying Indonesian hoax news using the pre-trained transformer multilingual model (XLM-R and mBERT) combined with a BERTopic model as a topic distribution model. The result shows that the proposed method outperforms the baseline model in classifying fake news in the low-resource language (Indonesian) with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 results of 0.9051, 0.9515, 0.8233, and 0.8828 respectively. © 2022 Slovene Society Informatika. There is still a severe malaria problem worldwide, particularly in regions with limited access to diagnostic tools. It is crucial to develop a system for detecting malaria in blood cells. This paper presents a hybrid Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and as a classifier, we use a Support Vector Machine (SVM) framework for the automated detection of malaria parasites in blood cell images. The proposed system leverages the strengths of CNNs in feature extraction and representation learning from images, combined with the discriminative power of SVMs for classification. Initially, CNN extracts intricate features from blood cell images, capturing essential patterns indicative of malaria infection. Subsequently, the extracted features are used to train an SVM classifier, enabling accurate discrimination between parasitized and uninfected blood cells. Experimental dataset evaluations were obtained from the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications website of the National Library of Medicine. The proposed model achieves a better f1-score, outperforming individual CNN or SVM models, around 0.015 compared to individual CNN models and 0.27 compared to individual SVM models. This hybrid CNN-SVM methodology offers a promising solution for accurately and efficiently detecting malaria parasites in blood cell images. © 2024 IEEE.

Enzymes are biocatalysts with vital roles in biological functions and many industrial applications. Diverse enzymes are classified using Enzyme Commission (EC) nomenclature, making differentiation challenging. On the other hand, another biological information, gene ontology (GO), can describe the biological aspects of enzymes, covering related biological processes (BP), molecular functions (MF), and their locations within cells (CC). This study proposes a novel EC class and subclass classification of enzymes within the ontology subclass based on their GO semantics using a Bidirectional Encoder Representation of Transformer (BERT). The BERT model is first fine-tuned using the preprocessed GO term name and definition, with the enzymes in each ontology class (BP, MF, or CC) are also divided based on how the GO assigned, either through manual annotation (NONIEA) or electronically inferred (IEA). BERT successfully obtained 0.93, 0.60, 0.99, 0.90, 0.40, and 0.35 F1 scores during fine-tuning for BP IEA, BP NONIEA, MF IEA, MF NONIEA, CC IEA, and CC NONIEA, respectively. On the test set, the fine-tuned BERT significantly outperformed GOntoSim, a framework to calculate semantic similarity based on classical information theory, in EC class classification across all metrics with less inference time in all ontology subclass. Expanded further to the EC subclass, BERT can classify the enzyme on the EC subclass level in BP IEA and MF IEA ontology subclass. However, longer epochs are needed in fine-tuning. This result shows that the names and definitions of GO terms are distinguishable features in classifying enzymes as an alternative to the information content approach. © 2024 IEEE.

The study focuses on the argument component in argumentation mining, specifically examining claim and premise types. Various datasets exist for argumentation components, each with different classes. The study evaluates the performance of deep learning architectures, particularly using contextual embedding as the initial layer. Six datasets with diverse argument components are used for validation. The research provides a comprehensive comparison of deep learning architectures, combining multiple layers such as BERT or word embedding with LSTM, GRU, or CNN. The results and their implications are discussed in the concluding section of the journal. The study demonstrates significant results with the BERT-BiGRU-CRF architecture after conducting several experiments. © 2023 Slovene Society Informatika. All rights reserved.

Real-world practical systems inherently exhibit non-linearities in their dynamics. Also, it is known that a time-varying delay exists in the system state or input-output. Combined, it affects the stability of the closed-loop system. It also increases the complexity of the controller design. In-depth controller design research on the class of Nonlinear Systems with Time-Varying Delay (NSTVD) has been the focus of the control community for many years. However, there is a lack of Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and classifications of the papers on this topic. This paper aims to review controller design utilizing a neural network model for the class of NSTVD systems. The study employs Kitchenham's SLR method to gather, analyze and synthesize published papers from reliable databases between 2017 and 2021. The bibliometric analysis for the selected 38 papers reveals the prolific authors, countries, affiliations, publishers, co-authorship network, co-occurrences of keywords, and ten most-cited papers. Finally, this paper developed a conceptual map outlining six multi-layered findings: the addressed problem, control design method, nonlinear system properties, time-varying delay properties, system constraint properties, and actuator limit properties. A brief qualitative analysis of the ten most-cited papers is performed based on the map. The findings highlighted that the proposed methods have shown encouraging results in the simulation domain and can be used as a source of inspiration for future studies and implementation of the neural controller design of the NSTVD system. © 2023 IEEE.

—Agriculture has long been recognized as pivotal to economic development, offering avenues to alleviate poverty, foster prosperity, and sustainably meet the food demands of a burgeoning global population projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050. However, persistent inefficiencies within agricultural supply chains, particularly in sectors like rice production, pose formidable challenges. Addressing these inefficiencies is imperative to avert a surge in hunger and malnutrition. Failure to do so could condemn 815 million people to hunger and leave 3 out of 10 individuals malnourished. Thus, investigating solutions to enhance the resilience of rice supply chains is paramount. This research endeavors to identify and analyze challenges inherent in tracing the rice supply chain, offering a conceptual model proposal as a potential remedy. Employing a methodology centered on scholarly discourse and extensive literature review, our study reveals various impediments facing rice commodity supply chains in Indonesia. Furthermore, this study leverages blockchain technology, specifically the Sawtooth Hyperledger platform, to streamline the tracing process for rice commodities and rationalize the supply chain by reducing intermediary actors. From the proposed model, there is great hope that it can provide implications for the rice supply chain to run more efficiently. ©2024 IEEE.

In organizational knowledge management, Large Language Model (LLM) caches act as a semantic repository gathered from previous LLM responses. Due to intensive calls from multiple users, LLM may suffer from high inference latency. While there are many prior available approaches to solve this problem, most of them are inherently complex. This paper introduced a Knowledge Graph-enhanced Semantic Cache mechanism as an alternative, lightweight technique to boost retrieval for similar prompts. The latest state-of-the-art open-source LLM, named Google's Gemma-2B-it, was used to generate sample prompts and responses as a draft, while a knowledge graph (KG) was built from Wikipedia sentences. To create embeddings of prompts and KG, all-MiniLM-L6-v2 from SentenceTransformer was used. This new cache system resulted in up to 28% improvement over a standard model. In particular, reinforcement with KG cache embeddings yielded more than 85% semantic cache accuracy. To map the next trajectory of this pilot study, an overview of the extended framework for LLM knowledge management was also presented in this paper. The framework includes the new KG- enhanced cache system equipped with scalable security and fallback mechanisms that can promote green technology through substantial improvements in latency, throughput, and overall LLM costs. © 2024 IEEE.

Rising cyber risks have compelled organizations to adopt better cyber-protection measures. This study focused on discovering crucial security metrics and assessing the function of red teaming in enhancing cybersecurity defenses against novel cyber hazards. The PRISMA standard considered nine core research works issued between 2014 and 2023. The inclusion of red teaming best practices can significantly enhance cybersecurity architecture. Accurate simulations of cyber threats during red teaming exercises help identify vulnerabilities, and actively embracing red teaming can amplify an organization's capacity to repel future cyber assaults. Researchers and practitioners can utilize the study's insights to pioneer novel security solutions. Combining red teaming methodologies with relevant metrics is essential for enhancing cybersecurity posture. The study's discoveries grant companies a priceless benefit in navigating the rapidly changing cyber threat environment and reinforcing their cyber protection mechanisms. © 2023 IEEE.

Current technological developments are directly proportional to the number of information technology projects made. This project is usually in the form of a program formed from a code. To facilitate version control and contributions between developers, git tools are usually used which are placed on an online platform such as Github. If a repository on an online platform contains sensitive information such as secret key variables and the repository can be accessed by the public, then this can be used to harm the company or organization that owns the repository. Several ways have been done before to detect this secret key variable by using the regex method and using machine learning to minimize false positive results. In this research, we will try to build a text or file classification model that contains secret key variables using the character level CNN and Shannon entropy. The Shannon entropy algorithm is used during pre-processing to retrieve the group of words with the largest entropy value and the CNN character level will be used because it is considered suitable for this case since the value of the secret key is abstract and does not require a sequence context for the said secret key in a file. The results of this study were able to obtain an accuracy value of 96.1% for the accuracy value for the classification of files containing secret key. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
