In this study, dopamine passivated carbon nanodots (C-dots) were fabricated to detect ferric ions (Fe3+) sensitivity and selectivity. Photoluminescence (PL) intensity of C-dots was turned on after adding phenyl boric acid. Depending on the interesting PL property, we investigated a novel strategy for Fe3+detection. Comparing to the previous papers used complicated and tedious process to fabricate nanomaterial-based probes for Fe3+ sensing, the one-pot hydrothermal method spend only 2 h to prepare C-dots from dopamine and trisodium citrate. The limit of detection (LOD) is 5.8 nM, which is lower than these papers.

Electron transport materials (ETM) play an important role in the improvement of efficiency and stability for inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs). This work reports an efficient ETM, named PDI‐C 60 , by the combination of perylene diimide (PDI) and fullerene. Compared to the traditional PCBM, this strategy endows PDI‐C 60 with slightly shallower energy level and higher electron mobility. As a result, the device based on PDI‐C 60 as electron transport layer (ETL) achieves high power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 18.6 %, which is significantly higher than those of the control devices of PCBM (16.6 %) and PDI (13.8 %). The high PCE of the PDI‐C 60 ‐based device can be attributed to the more matching energy level with the perovskite, more efficient charge extraction, transport, and reduced recombination rate. To the best of our knowledge, the PCE of 18.6 % is the highest value in the PSCs using PDI derivatives as ETLs. Moreover, the device with PDI‐C 60 as ETL exhibits better device stability due to the stronger hydrophobic properties of PDI‐C 60 . The strategy using the PDI/fullerene hybrid provides insights for future molecular design of the efficient ETM for the inverted PSCs.

Recent reports have demonstrated the Z2 topological property of the superconductor PbTaSe2 (Tc∼3.8 K). PbTaSe2 simultaneously exhibits superconductivity and nontrivial Z2 topology without the need for doping or proximity effect. Scanning tunneling microscopy confirms that the topological surface states are gapped by superconductivity, indicating the likelihood of the chiral px+ipy pairing mechanism. Motivated by these exciting findings, we predict by means of the first-principles scheme that ABSe2 (A=Pb or Sn and B=Ta or Nb) is also a superconductor with nontrivial Z2 topology. Among these, SnNbSe2 shows the highest Tc∼7.0 K. Due to the fact that the required energy resolution to detect the Majorana bound states is of the order of Δ2/ɛF, the predicted higher Tc of ABSe2 may help mitigate some experimental challenges and provides a better platform for the exploration of the topological superconductivity.
